Hell yeah he is, I love the quote" Bullcrap! If you want to win you gotta bring your A game."
Coach is bringing it!!
Interesting comparison viewing the deliveries of JRP and Mikey...JRP is smoother and quicker (no windup)....Mikey still has the windup...but accuracy is what will matter and that's yet to be seen...
No surprise there. He'll lead the nation in rushing by a QB. But passing accuracy is what will make us either a very good offense or a great offense.QB’s were “live” today. 3rd play of the scrimmage Plumlee scored on an 80yd TD run.😳
Noticed that in the videos too. It’s not just accuracy, though, it’s decision making pre and post-snap as well.Interesting comparison viewing the deliveries of JRP and Mikey...JRP is smoother and quicker (no windup)....Mikey still has the windup...but accuracy is what will matter and that's yet to be seen...
Ahh...more athletic than JRP? Doubtful. Certainly not as fast. TC has a longer delivery because of his shoulder turn and is smoother than Mikey but not as smooth as JRP. But, because of his turn, he has more zip...TC has the most zip on ball and probably more athletic of the 3. Doubt he knows the terminology yet though.
Gus said Gatewood has good hands...looks like he does, doesn't he?Anyone happen to notice the one handed/behind the back catch by a certain WR #7 on TC first throw???
I don't understand why Mikey didn't fix that in the offseason. I also don't understand all of the negative comments about JRP when he transferred in. Many just said he can't pass. Well, it's not for a lack of technicals. He's smooth and has obviously gone to QB camps in years past to hone his skills. But we all want to see him throw the easy passes accurately and put some air under the longer ones so our speedster WR's can catch some every game. If he can, combined with his running ability, we'll own the AAC. Remember, a lot of Mikey's yards and his completion percentage benefitted from short and shovel passes to O'Keefe and others. I'm sure those will still be in our playbook and are stat builders. That windup is a killer. JRP gets the startin gig
We are still in the off-season. There’s 4.5 months from the spring game to preseason camp. That’s more time than between the bowl and the first spring practice.I don't understand why Mikey didn't fix that in the offseason. Patrick mahomes has the highest % of completions 0-5 yrds. Were used to DG’s deep ball accuracy which is valuable but JRP is like Killins playing qb. Looks like it got even worse..That windup is a killer. JRP gets the startin gig
Actually it's 3 1/2 months and you're right, time will tell....a big difference between JRP and Jeff is the competition they played against their frosh years. JRP played pretty well (as a frosh) against some of the top teams in the country (LSU, when they were #1, AL, Auburn, Cal). All were top 25 when he played against them. Plus other SEC teams like TX A&M and Missou. Jeff played primarily against CUSA level opponents and, except for the Liberty Bowl, even lesser OOC. Having watched a few of Plumlee's games, he was constantly under pressure. Hopefully that experience helps him to handle the pressure against the tougher teams on our schedule. I guarantee you that after a few long TD runs, he'll be spied every game and that should have our stud receivers licking their chops. Just gotta get 'em the ball.We are still in the off-season. Again, there are plenty of QBs every year that look great in practice throwing drills and then can’t complete a pass when the lights are on and the defensive line is bearing down on them. Look at how good Jeff Godfrey looked until Mario Cristobal realized that the dude couldn’t handle a blitz.
I don’t care who the QB is as long as they’re effective. But I try not to get caught up in the “next guy up is better” syndrome. JRP was also playing with SEC talent where Godfrey wasn’t. Hopefully they’re both good and it’s a win-win for everyone.Actually it's 3 1/2 months and you're right, time will tell....a big difference between JRP and Jeff is the competition they played against their frosh years. one of the weirdest things our fanbase has done the last 6 months or so is trying to make Keene happen. it was so obvious last season despite being a freshman ..they nitpick stats trying to compare him to KZ and when the eye test shows that can’t be further from the truth .That windup is a killer. JRP gets the startin gig
I don’t think anyone is delusional enough to think that anything they write on these boards or any other is going to influence the coaching staff’s choice for QB. Some of us, though, don’t see the value in tearing the kid down for no reason when we have very little idea of what is actually going on in practices.one of the weirdest things our fanbase has done the last 6 months or so is trying to make Keene happen. it was so obvious last season despite being a freshman ..they nitpick stats trying to compare him to KZ and when the eye test shows that can’t be further from the truth .

It’s been a real head scratcher. Mention a negative observation or reference any of the various poor performances last year and people get all hot and bothered up in here about Keene. People taking it so personal, it’s ok to want better and you should be able to take a step back and be honest about last year’s qb play. It wasn’t good or leaving anything to be excited about.one of the weirdest things our fanbase has done the last 6 months or so is trying to make Keene happen. it was so obvious last season despite being a freshman ..they nitpick stats trying to compare him to KZ and when the eye test shows that can’t be further from the truth .
This. Keene would be a valuable backup and doesnt turn the ball over. Plumlee makes oir offense lethal from the running standpoint.making an observation on a ucf message board about someone’s play or projecting ceiling isn’t tearing someone down
that is part of the problem. it is even worse in the Dungeon
Good blocking and JRP also showing his footwork and speed. Like having two Johnny Richardson's in the backfield. Man, they're gonna try to load the box against us...and that will lead to a lot of explosive runs and YAC with short throws.
Yep...JRP will have to get on the same page as his receivers. Either the receiver hooks at the goal line or JRP puts some air under it to the back of the endzone. That INT was thrown to exactly the wrong place and was way too easy.
Since we highlighted Mikey Keene’s pick 6 last scrimmage. Only fair…
