Spring Practice

Good blocking and JRP also showing his footwork and speed. Like having two Johnny Richardson's in the backfield. Man, they're gonna try to load the box against us...and that will lead to a lot of explosive runs and YAC with short throws.
Didn't Plumlee have the sorts of SEC RB/WR talent we currently have?

I don't know his career starting record, but why does everyone assume things will dramatically change from his SEC days?

Just a ?

MS won 4 games in 2019 (2 of them were OOC)....they were not a very good team. Their O did average over 26 ppg. But their D had a difficult time stopping SEC caliber teams.

Yep...JRP will have to get on the same page as his receivers. Either the receiver hooks at the goal line or JRP puts some air under it to the back of the endzone. That INT was thrown to exactly the wrong place and was way too easy.
Looks like he was expecting wr on a curl route the way it was thrown. Both guys are new, this is what practice is for.

I don’t think Plumlee will be a great QB but he may be the best fit for what we have on campus. Castellanos is too raw to know that this Fall most likely unless his leap is so fast by fall camp.

the issue is Keene is what does he do at a high level? With Dilllon Gabriel we saw the deep ball right away , w KZ elusiveness and off script play making , etc. at least Plumlee can turn some of those tight coverage plays into 10 yard runs to move the chains .

I’m super bullish on TC, his athleticism has such a high ceiling. I’ve even been dumb enough to throw out the Heisman talk on him already, let’s revisit that hype in a few years though.

JRP seems like he could thrive in CGMs best playbook, matched with our stable of RBs and WRs. He actually brings a dynamic that can make them better, haven’t had that since KZ really (loved DG but he wasn’t a catalyst). I don’t see that with Keene, as we all saw last year, he’s limited and a decent game manager, solid backup at best imo.

In a perfect world, and we need to start thinking this way as we recruit better and recruit depth as a Big12 team, we need to recruit elite QBs every year with the idea that they will redshirt and hope to play 2-3 years. JRP plays 1-2 years starting now, TC redshirts and plays 2-3 years (or some other stud fits in), that’s the cycle. This is the way…

Anyone who can shake a Celiscar tackle and turn it into an 80 yard td needs to be on the field. He can improve as he learns. With Keene we are already at his ceiling

O’Keefe with a throwback pass to Plumlee🚀🚀
I sure hope JRP sells the play better than that if used in a real game. His immediate backpedaling to the sideline while keeping his eyes locked on O’Keefe the whole time, made the throw-back terribly obvious.

Was glad to see some new guys at the press conference and hear from them.

2 things that I’ve been hearing from almost all who speak:

1) Jaylon Griffen WR #18 has taken a huge leap and is pushing Kobe Hudson for the boundary WR spot. He could be the breakout player that nobody saw coming last year.

2) Koby Perry DB #4 is a big hitter and a vocal leader. Even though he is in his first year at UCF he has played a lot. Sounds like he may make a big impact on the defense this year.

I’m definitely looking forward to watching both of them in the Spring game.

Sounds like Ryan is really happy at UCF. Hopefully Paul can get some quality minutes on the line this year because there will definitely be an opportunity for a lot of playing time next year.

Is the game being televised or streamed? Would normally go but will be going to Jupiter for the weekend.

Speaking of mechanics, watch this breakdown of Josh Allen before and after…

There have been a great number of very effective college QBs with a long windup. I wouldn’t count him out yet.
And yet those “outliers” wouldn’t have only put up 100 yards against one of the worst defenses in college football (usf).

I get not counting him out necessarily, even though I have my doubts, but come on…the love affair with him and some of you is really weird. And then you all act like we aren’t real fans b/c we want better, which is again, very weird.

*full disclosure, I don’t go to practices b/c I have an actual life*

MK also had 229 against Temple and Tulane and 208 against UConn. I don’t love him but I also think CGM was managing him and not asking him to just air it out all the time. Honestly, I just want us to win games and if that means we have a game manager rather than a numbers guy then I’m fine with that. Especially after the DG fiasco.

I can agree with that, winning solves everything. But let’s not forget how bad all 3 of those teams and their defenses were as well.

I want better and I think we have that in JRP or even TC. At least I’m hoping, b/c I’ve seen what MK brings and it’s limited.
