Saying UCF should follow the same Bobby Bowden plan to gain national respect from 40 years ago is like saying UCF should follow the same Bobby Bowden social media branding plan from 40 years ago.
Correct. The better plan is to demand respect, make up reasons why anything that happens is disrespectful, create conspiracy theories and perpetuate them, have the AD troll other athletic departments, use twitter and message boards to tell every other team that they suck, act as though scheduling and budget issues exist only with UCF , and complain, complain, complain.
FYI, that was half tongue-in-cheek because everybody does the same things, but seriously in the last 2 weeks on this board:

0-12? Who would ever watch a team that went 0-12? Like, thats a seriously bad record. Exponentially worse than 4-8.
I feel like we should hang out. Not in a friendly way at all, but like in a "my wife works with your wife so we have to try to act like we get along and talk about things, but all we do is drink beer and sit across the table from one another thinking about how that guy is a smartass who likes crappy beer" awkward type of hang out. Then one of us brings up some weird bit of trivia and we both act like we are interested but know that it's just an excuse to grab our phones and pretend like we are looking up something interesting but are actually just checking to see what our real friends are doing on facebook.
Going from 0-12 to 25 game win streak in one year is more headline grabbing and history making. Team Riley to Team frost didnt actually improve since the coaching change except nickhames like Cornfumblers and NGEbraska.
Yes. Then while we are distracted by our phones we both start to eat a noodle on our plates. It turns out that we our plates are just one long noodle split between the two servings. As we get to the end of the noodle, you realize that Maury Povich is staged and maybe you aren't the father.
I prefer the term "5 time national champions", but your point is valid regarding nicknames. Cornfumblers is no better than the NGEbraska, even though one is possible to enunciate and the other sounds like a dog barking with a mouth full of marbles and rice chex. The issue at hand is whether a team can go 0-12 and still be relevant, and if so, how long after that does it take to be relevant? I would think it would take several years if not decades to overcome something that atrocious. I mean that is really bad. Like your wife was a 5 when you married her but in the first year of marriage she gained 450 pounds and has been on the Maury show 3 times since then trying to find out who her baby daddy was but the DNA tests come back saying that she wasnt actually pregnant, it was just diarrhea. Like that bad.
