The problem is that you think I'm an anti-vaxxer. I'm not, and have praised the vaccines ability to help keep people from dying. My gripe is the government ignoring that fact and implementing ND recommending mask mandates based on numbers that don't indicate them being necessary.

Considering a big downside of getting a virus is getting sick, the whole not getting sick part of the vaccine is very attractive.
Agreed. And over time if and when the vaccines are proven to not have any long term side effects then people will be less averse to taking them. As long as hospitals aren't being legitimately overwhelmed, let's just let the thing play out on its own.

As far as stopping the spread. It’s not helping that enough people and children aren’t vaccinated. The variants aren’t helping either
The ultimate goal was/is to limit hospitalizations (getting worse) and to limit severe illness and death. Nobody cares about a disease if it doesn’t harm you. This one still is in predominantly unvaccinated people

It seems like maybe the Biden administration had a little bit too much faith in the vaccines to just wipe this thing out and didn't really have a working plan.
A plan to deal with a variant that is killing antivaxxers and spreads at a rate comparable to chicken pox? The vaccine is free and available right now and prevents nearly all serious complications from the virus. What plan do you think the administration needs to come up with outside of the one thing that can prevent serious illness being readily available? Mandating it?

I was on that bandwagon too. Then I read and spoke to some experts that studied vaccines and their effects rather than virology or epidemiology. Almost without exception, any side effects from vaccines are seen within 2 months of innoculation. The only real anomaly was the case where the vaccine for a disease in the early 20th century caused an effect within 2 months but we didn’t link the two until the 80’s.
Couple that with the hundreds of millions of people worldwide that have been vaccinated for more than 2 months and there’s a very good chance that we’ve seen all of the side effects the current vaccines are going to throw at us.
So, unless you have allergy issues that might cause you major problems, you should be able to make your decision on the current data and not worry about an unknown effect suddenly materializing.
The unvaccinated are infecting each other and the vaccinated that it’s not effective against are spreading it to the unvaccinated and vice versa. In addition to the new Delta variant. What about this can’t you comprehend?
