Cam Leiter is now in the portal too but left it open to return with the right coach. Freshman, throws 95+. Id like to keep that one, but yeah pitching wasn’t good, coaching wasn’t good.
I’m pretty sure if they hire a good coach, a few will return. New coach may bring some guys with him too though. Lovelady had to go. Even if everyone left.
A lot of people get concerned about a complete rebuild and starting from zero. They rather have mediocrity and hope it changes or wait till it hits rock bottom to make a move.
The football team hit rock bottom, if that didn't happen good chance Brent Key takes over and the next few years is drastically different.

People would have been happy with a 2 win season and then a 4 win season. Saying we are getting better each year. There’s a reason you don’t want your AD to be friends with the coaches. Harder to fire them. Also don’t want HC being friends with the players. JRP comes to mind. It’s all business.

Prob didn’t want to be on the 2 deep fringe 3 deep for his 1-2 years left in eligibility.
While that is true and UCF's Dline is unquestionably the best unit, you don't let this kid get off your campus without a commitment. He is too good to let go. UCF is a couple of key injuries away from needing a swing man like this.
I have to think it was academics, not football related.
UCF DL is in desperate need of pass rushers. Almost dead last in all of FBS in sacks.
They brought they kid in for an official visit. A dude with no FBS offers. He did not pass the “eye test” and they did not take him. That’s all.

Wrong….he never enrolled at Memphis (had nothing to do with not winning a job there) and never set foot in West Lafayette. The guy is from FL and UCF is a better location for him….talented guy but we’ve got to get him on campus and enrolled.
