I have to say I don't like this move. There are too many quality unsigned players to take a risk on a redshirt freshman who has never seen the field.
If UCF wants a slot corner, it should pursue Dom James of North Dakota State. No way will the kid stick to his Colorado State commitment if UCF offers.

I would take a chance on a big physical corner with lots of playing experience and high upside like Matthew Ballentine of Eastern Kentucky before I wasted a scholarship on Stewart.

Yes. He has a great arm and can run. We have Byrum Brown and a kid from Cali that is pretty bad a$$ so it was a numbers game. Notice he has no fear of competing with Timmy McClain.
He FINALLY agreed to play Tight End. I think he will get a shot at the NFL. He was always a natural at that position. Some fools never learn. Some do apparently.

Malik Willis in two years at Liberty: 377/604 = 62.4% completions, 5,107 passing yards yards, 1,822 rushing yards, 6,929 total yards, 74 total TDand 18 INT.
People wonder why Malzon has a bad rep with QBs. Viable QBs want nothing to do with your boy.

He couldn't beat out 5 star Bo Nix, but Gus still wanted him to get on the field somehow. I watched both play during the 2019 Spring Game. Bo, whose dad was his high school head coach and himself a quarterback at Auburn and a former P5 offensive coordinator, was unquestionably the better quarterback. Bo threw for a state record 12,000 yards in high school; Willis started at quarterback for only one season (kind of like Xavier Williams). Gus was the ONLY FBS coach in America to offer Malik Willis as a quarterback. His offer came at the 11th hour.

The loss is another disappointment on what has been a bad night so far with the Hokies now only having one defensive back committed in three-star DB Devante Smith who has been lightly recruited, but hasn't waivered in his commitment either. The decommitment is also a little bit of a surprise, making the disappointment only greater. Willis was projected to play cornerback and will make the Hokies' push for other CBs only increase a good amount. Update: In what has been a wild two days, Malik Willis has received an offer from Auburn and committed to the Tigers very quickly and faster than he committed to the Hokies after receiving an offer at an Atlanta satellite camp and committing on a visit that weekend. At this point, I wouldn't expect the Hokies to really make a push for Willis with Virginia Tech likely putting more resources towards cornerbacks with the possibility now that Tahj Capehart may end up at CB and not WR. One thing that may have also made the difference for Willis is the fact that Auburn offered him as a QB while also being closer to home and in the SEC for the Georgia native. After Willis's recruitment moved quickly over the summer with Virginia Tech, it moved even quicker with Auburn while also having a wild series of events from the decommitment during the second quarter of the Belk Bowl to the commitment less than 24 hours later."
Willis backed up current NFL quarterback Jarrett Stidham and future NFL quarterback Bo Nix during his two years at Auburn. His ONLY path to see the field was at wide receiver. Willis simply was not ready to compete for the quarterback position at Auburn. He redshirted his first year at Liberty due to NCAA transfer rules.

Gus wanted to make him change positions. Gus is a clown. Malik left and prospered. Bo Nix went in the portal and wanted nothing to do with Malzon…went to Oregon and had the best season of his career.

Bo Nix was coming to Orlando until Kenny Dillingham turned down Gus's offer to take the Oregon OC job for more money and for the ability to call plays (which he would not have hsd under Gus). Bo followed his Year One Auburn QB Coach to Oregon. Now Dillingham is the youngest FBS coach in America.

Gus made a monumental, Auburn-career ending error in 2020 by replacing Dillingham with Chad Morris, who is quite possibly the most inept offensive coach in college football. Today, Dilly Dilly is the head coach at his alma mater; Morris is unemployed after one year stints as an offensive analyst at South Florida and as a high school head coach at Allen (TX) HS.

Mario boggled his OC hire so badly that instead of playing on Sundays this fall, his QB (who's draft stock he cratered), had to hold that fraudulent collective hostage right after Spring, for a few extra pesos.

I am going to explain this in a manner you can understand. UCF was without starters Jeremiah Jean-Baptist, Divaad Wilson, Jarvis Ware, Devonte Brown, Quadric Bullard, and Ryan O'Keefe.
Gus had all hands on deck for the bowl game. He had no choice but to play freshmen, redshirt freshmen, and sophomores in prominent roles.

UCF was #20 and lost to 3-7 Navy. Beat a 1-10 USF and then lost to Tulane. You don’t think Malhazan needed that win? Malzon only had TWO double digit win seasons at Auburn. Two. You don’t think Malzon wanted to get to 10 wins and build momentum for offseason recruiting and donations?
