UCF Hires Missouri offensive coordinator Josh Heupel as their new head football coach

I was very impressed with the press conference. This guy has won at every level, and no doubt he will bring more championship aspirations to UCF. The guy spent 10 years working under Bob Stoops. His offenses while OC were ranked top 25 every year. The year he was fired Oklahoma was scoring 39 ppg in the regular season, but had an awful bowl performance against Clemson. Many questioned the firing. http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsext...cle_86b9059d-8077-5bb2-9bfb-a0daa36206cb.html

Looks like a scapegoat firing if you ask me. 39 ppgand they went 8-4. That’s when ppl were starting to turn on Stoops. Looks like he fired JH to save his skin.

This is a good read Rittenberg calls UCF one of the better head coaching jobs:sunglasses:

Josh Heupel's hiring at UCF should serve as inspiration to promising coaches who need to revive their careers. After being dumped by Oklahoma, his alma mater, Heupel got back on track at Utah State for a year before coming to Missouri and completely turning around the Tigers offense. Now he has one of the better head-coaching jobs in the country. Impressive.

I hope all you Knights are happy. Josh Heupel should do a great job as your head coach. Shannon will be a fine DC. Thanks for making SF a better coach. Now go out and beat Auburn.

Heupel is an excellent hire. Not the same style of offense, but close enough. You will continue to score a ton of points. Randy Shannon has a ton of experience, but wasn't necessarily liked at his last couple stops. He plays a somewhat passive defensive scheme. But he does give UCF some inroads to South Florida kids.
Any defensive scheme is better than the one we have right now.

I text my wife the story and her serious response, "ew he's not cute at all."

He could look like Jabba The Hutt for all I care. As long as he wins games and stays long enough not to crush our recruiting. Coaches move, but it is hard to sustain momentum if the Head Coach leaves so quickly.
