UCF Portal Thread-signings/rumors

Something to monitor...

Razorback Fans Need to Prepare for Portal Movement That Should Happen Soon

"Between players returning, those about to sign and those who have already agreed to transfer in, there are essentially no roster spots available. "

This article was written by Captain Obvious….nothing of substance, all programs need to evaluate their roster this time of year…..duh

Singleton is still probably 4th string (Jefferson, his backup (forgot the name), Taylen Green (new Boise transfer), Singleton, then the 4 star in their recruiting class)…..and the new OC landed both Green and the 4 star guy, so has NO allegiance to Singleton.

OT: I just read an article where Oklahoma has now lost its entire OL to the portal. This sh_t is out of control and needs some rules so that teams can actually figure out a roster. Somehow be able to lock in players for at least two seasons at a time. Only in the current NIL world would a top notch program lose an entire OL…it’s like where are you going to go to get a better opportunity?

The college game is f-ed for the foreseeable future.
They aren’t committed to schools anymore. It’s either a coach or NIL. Oklahoma lost coaches. That’s why they are losing offensive players. Players from Oklahoma usually aren’t top tier. So if you want kids that only want to play for Oklahoma or State you have to get 2 and 3 stars. Even talent rich states can’t keep kids if a coach leaves. NIL speaks for itself.

Agreed. There has to be a middle ground. It’s completely swung in the direction in favor of the player and it’s absolute chaos. I like the idea of being able to transfer 1x (no more than 1); I like the idea of NIL money = you are contractually bound to a program. These kids need to learn about commitment & consequences. I don’t think it’s helping anyone with this current Wild West system that’s in place.

Half (or close) of OU’s recruits come from Texas, where I live (Houston) they have a huge presence….a son of one of my wife’s friends is there….and my God this kid is a monster….to paraphrase the icon Weird Al, when he is around, he’s the only one getting a tan.

One of the funniest things ever was watching him get into my Lamborghini…..if it wasn’t a convertible, he would’ve never made it, even then most of his head was above the windshield.

Point is Arkansas hasn't made roster cuts yet. Most other programs, including UCF, have. Stands to reason Malachi Singleton could be on the chopping block.

I see what you did there. 😂😂😂

Ja’Maric Morris committed to UCF not MJ or were you just saying he would be a nice get?

I was under the impression that Gus/UCF wanted Morris in 2021. Apparently that wasn't the case. He did not claim an offer from UCF.

I have to think Gus and Hinshaw went up there to talk him into this and maybe offer some NIL to do it. They must have a strategy in mind, if I’d guess it’s they will reach into portal for a 1 year guy, Redshirt EJ while he is 17 years old to get bigger stronger faster. He learns the playbook/system to take over as a redshirt freshman. I think they feel that strongly about him.

Glad you saw the original then......it isn't hard to acquire such things.....just takes motivation and a plan.
I understand it’s more attainable than ppl think, I could have one now too if I wanted…but why in the hell you want one of these money pits? It’s a depreciating asset (in most cases) that has extremely high running costs (I heard $1000s of dollars per mile, most likely if you just drive it sparingly). And you unknowingly look like a midlife crisis having asshole driving it (no offense, but that’s how people view you). Money is better spent on income producing real estate or investing somewhere else, especially if like you say you are a working man. If you’re wealthy beyond giving a ****, then by all means that’s who that car is for. But even still, the fact you had to tell some weird story just to bring it up…cringe

Solid flex 💪

Looks like Patrick Barnett "won" that last spot in the tryout among the Heupel leftovers I referred to earlier...

BTW, on the sons of UCF show, their guest QB expert said our 3 top available targets should be:
Nate Johnson
Matt Sulka
DeQuan Finn - who we won’t get
DeQuan Finn looks outstanding in his films and Nate Johnson also looks very good. Think I like Finn better. I don't think we even offered him. I know he went to Baylor for a visit.

Unless something drastic happens, the chances of UCF signing a transfer portal QB are less than 5%.

The 2024 quarterback room is projected to consist of Timmy McClain, Dylan Rizk, Xavier Williams, EJ Colsin, and Riley Trujillo. That's excluding walk ons Brock Hansel and Gunner Smith. That's five scholarship quarterbacks and two walk ons. Gus usually carries only four scholarship QBs with only one walk on.

Now all bets are off is Williams jumps in the portal and signs with a smaller program. But even then there is no guarantee Gus would replace him. Chances are UCF will start fall camp without an experienced backup.

The good news is I think UCF's Quarterback of the Future will be on the roster by the middle of next week.

I think we are still in the market....replace Williams with Nate Johnson and plan to redshirt Colson unless he wins the job outright. Still want Trujillo, but wonder if he is looking elsewhere.
