UCF quarterback Dylan Rizk intends to enter transfer portal

Browns legs might still be a threat to land him the role. Please if his arm gets remotely better he would be a serious threat on the field

Tayven may be inexperienced but he's been pressure-tested. Last season he stepped up for Indiana and started at QB -- and won -- a critical game in the Hoosiers' run to the playoffs. As I recall, he was a 4-star out of HS so the kid clearly has the skills.
We still have the last few days of the portal and fall practice. He does appear to be QB1 right now....but Scott's leaving it open officially (and he should) until we get well into preseason. Tayven's got to continue to show consistency to secure the job.

Based on last year, he doesn't just have bad plays, he has horrible plays where it appears he has no idea what he's doing or how to do it. Pressure him, he loses his composure and bad things happen.
Some of those plays where he just lost it, and ran backwards for 40 yards, were scary.

“Pressure tested” “won a critical game” you are DRUNK at best. At BEST.

Are you telling us there was no pressure on back-up QB, Jackson, when an injury to the Hoosiers' star QB required him to take over in his absence? Really??!?

Question: If Jackson had lost the Washington game, would Indiana have made the playoffs? Isn't that the very definition of a critical game?

So was Joey Gatewood....how did that turn out....LOL
There are a lot of 4-star busts. It just means the experts believe the kid's odds of success are better. Scouts can measure a lot of important things (size, weight, speed, arm strength, etc.), but they can't measure a kid's heart.

FWIW, I'd rather have a young quarterback mentored by Milton and Scott than Hinshaw and Gus.

But he won a game and helped propel Indiana to the playoffs.

The 77-3 win over Western Illinois was big too.

I think they upgraded at both the offensive coordinator, HC and quarterback coach position. That being said, Gus was both the head coach, offensive coordinator, and quarterback coach. Gus thought of alot more from himself than others did. HS coach !!

Jacurri was excellent many times around the opponents 20 yard line. He had some bursting speed and moves to gain 5, 10, or 15 yards. That was one thing gus did that was pretty good I have to admit (it worked)
I am never in favor of a QB who can only run and not pass. Wasn't that one of Gus the Bust's offensive genius plays? Doesn't take a defensive genius very long to know it's going to be a run because your QB can't pass. May as well be a triple option team. Not a fan.

Good point. Jacurri could make some passes. Maybe he has improved. I mean it was obvious what gus was going to run when Jacurri was in. But several times it worked.

Gus mentoring a qb would be like Diddy mentoring an altar boy

You UcF fans need to get something through your thick heads: when a QB sucks, he sucks and there’s not a person in this Earth that can make him not suck. Your QB room…sucks. Simple as that, there’s no fixing it by anyone.

On the surface doesn't look like much to be excited about (short at 5' 10 or 11"), 50th QB in his class, an 82 transfer ranking, but his offer list was rediculous, 23 P4 offers including Alabama, Georgia, Florida, a school up North with a crappy OC, Michigan, Mich St, Oregon, Tenn, Miss, Penn St, and Texas A&M.

With 4 years of eligibility left, fits the mold of what I called out in another thread what we are looking for.

And his Dad can beat up every other recruit's Dad....

Frost tried to recruit Jackson to Nebraska so he has known about him awhile.

Teams had to watch Harvey AND Brown...hence why either got freed up for key runs inside the 15 yd line....as Brown had 4 rushing TDs and averaged over 7.5 yds a carry last year.

In that heartbreak 38-35 loss at #9 Iowa State, Brown rushed for 153 yds and 2 TDs.

Yes, Brown struggled much in the passing game but if he can improve in that area, he coukd be a major 2 way threat.

Regarding "all-world" Jacurri Brown, y'all love swallowing that blue pill.

Let me give you a taste of the red one:

He can't throw. Not a lick. Anybody with half a brain can watch his highlights and realize that deer-in-the-headlights, lost-as-a-ball-in-high-weeds demeanor of his any time he is asked to throw the football.

He is a "QB" and yet all his highlights are running.

I told y'all he was worthless when he came from 'duh u.' Once a u always a u. I looker up his Wikipedia and he is wearing u gear. No thanks. Gus should have NEVER signed that loser. He is Charles Barkley "turrible."

Do you not realize he lost head-to-head in high school against former UCF backup Xavier Williams? Williams, now a safety, was clearly the better QB.

He *may* -- and I emphasize may -- be able to play some wife receiver. Maybe some Guscat. Maybe.

Tulane just got a commit from Iowa, so some other team will have to "Rizk it for the biscuit".

OK, as expected a young guy with upside and alot of eligibility. No challenge to start this year, so we are riding with Jackson and Fancher (not sure where Brown fits in other than a wildcat guy). Probably won't then be in the market to grab another guy to challenge Jackson.

Will be interesting to see what MM will do with his first real student to coach up from scratch.
