Touted FCS QB Gronowski enters transfer portal
South Dakota State QB Mark Gronowski, who went 49-6 as a starter and led the Jackrabbits to two FCS national titles, has entered the portal as a graduate transfer.
Wild seeing former Ohio State, LSU, Alabama type players transferring to UCF. Frost doing well. Hope our OL signings pan out. Love the DT from Ga Tech!
You get the sense frost is looking at film and getting players that check certain boxes where as Gus would scroll through the 247 rankings and recruit off of rankings with no idea of how the kid would perform or what their character was
I mean, we got Cedric Hawkins (safety) to transfer from Ohio State to UCF just last year. He didn’t record a single tackle last season, I’m not sure I remember him ever seeing the field.
Once they transfer, the stars and HS accolades they received (which got them to Ohio State, Alabama, LSU, etc) means very little to me. Sometimes they pan out at UCF coming from blue-blood programs (see Javon Baker, Kobe Hudson, Lee Hunter, Amari Kight), and sometimes they don’t.
You can sprin recruits negative or positive. From Ohio State, they a 4-5 star stud, or they didn't pan out and are a bust. From FCS, they haven't played anyone they can't handle top level football or they are hungry and ready to prove themselves.
Unless they were a starter at high level putting up meaningful numbers as a starter, it's an unknown how they will pan out until they see the field.

Pretty dominant at Limestone college (Div II) this year, started his college at South Carolina in 2022 (no stats) so has 2 years left.

once you're in the portal it means you're either looking for money or playing opportunity. based on his list, i think he's looking for opportunity.
Totally unrelated factor.
UCF was stacked on the DL in 2024. Edwards wanted immediate playing time. He wasn't going to get that at UCF. He circled back because the path to playing time has cleared, and the DL coach who recruited and secured his original commitment was retained.
Gus or no Gus, he was coming to UCF in 2025.
Sincere Edwards is a very good get for UCF…the best one by Frost so far. A young player with proven P4 production.

N. Kelly came back to UCF after entering the portal, M. Lawrence is returning, J. Johnson came back after entering the portal, I. Nixon is back. UCF’s top-four returning DE’s all came back.
You can say that Edwards may better than some of those guys, I’m excited about it. But it’s not accurate to say “the path is clear”. D-end is literally the only position in the entire program where production is returning. Both starting DE’s, both primary backups. Only four returning starters in the whole program, two of them here at this position.
We’re getting some nice “homesick” portal additions. Also think that Kenny Martin staying was a huge factor
Nice get, but I would say OL, veteran WR, TE, depth QB are probably bigger needs at the moment.
Starting QB level talent needed, somebody who can compete, not a depth guy.
Still think we need LB help.....Grinch needs to work the phones.
