UCF vs UF in the Gasparilla Bowl???

I agree with you that I wouldn’t blame him for transferring, since this isn’t exactly a vertical-threat offense taking shots down the field Gus is running.

But I would have to disagree about the NFL attention. Ten games of film last year, just just a couple good films this year, is that enough? He potentially has NFL speed and ball skills, I’ll give him that. But he’s a bit undersized to play the “X” receiver at the next level, and he really just had the one good year. I think we tend to overvalue our guys a little bit as far as the NFL goes. I think he’s the top NFL prospect on the roster, but I would still think it’s 50/50 (if that) that he would get drafted.

And like people have already posted on here. He’s already transferred once. Nothing stopping him from doing that again - especially if he just needs one more season of film to ‘prove it’. But that is a lot of moving around in 4-5 years.

As i am reading this. Issue occurs to me is that even with a super accurate Deep ball QB like DG. Gus wouldn't change his Offense to the players strengths. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

He’s a prototype slot guy. Fast, crisp routes. 1 year is enough for many, he never looked bad and caught difficult balls every game. He’s got enough film. I doubt he transfers again, I feel like if he leaves the team it’s to go pro, not transfer.

Comment about j-flash seemed concerning by Gus. What exactly is j-flash situation? Injury, transfer or what? Didn’t he go to Hawaii with DG last summer? Wonder where he’s at?

Robinson for sure has NFL speed and ball skill, the guy runs a 4.3 and has made amazing catches. The question is his size

DG leaving is horrible news for Okeefe and JFlash. How do you be a great receiver without a great QB?

*opt out for the NFL that is. Only know this because I was reading about Gators top player CB Elam who is a 1st round projection. He hasn’t decided if he is leaving yet and he is playing in the bowl game.

Anyone who is a first round grade should be so out. If that’s true, Elam should be opting out also.

"Wish the BYU QB last year would’ve got the memo."

That same Qb, Tysom Hill, just beat Tom Brady's Buccs.

EDIT: made mistake on BYU qb. oops...coffee too strong but when I was watching that Buccs game the other night I thought it was the same guy in the Boca Bowl. After googlin' I see that byu qb is with the jets.

From Gator journalist Pat Dooley:

* Florida has maintained a six-point spread in its game against UCF in the Gasparilla Bowl and this is the most difficult game to call for Dr. Football. I just don’t have a feel for how important this game is to the players and coaches who won’t be around in 2022. Never bet with your heart and take the Knights and the six.

DGs spirals may be beautiful but he was not super accurate. His completion was 60% which was 67th among FBS qbs and this is middle of the pack. He very often made underthrows on deep balls but was bailed out by our excellent receivers, (Davis, Nixon, JFlash, etc) who would make the adjustment to turn poor throws into a reception.

Lucky the bowl is happening now, everything pointing to another spike at an even faster rate than before. Unfortunately, its also looking like spike in hospitals too, which I didn't think would happen so soon after Delta.

Yeah we might be able to squeeze this game in before the shit hits the fan… I’m still concerned that we’ll have some surprise players out due to covid, given what’s happened in the nfl.

Another way to win the UCF vs. UF game is to get their QB Emory Jones. Provided our guys give it their all, Jones could be convinced that UCF is the place to come when he transfers.

MK has a better completion percentage throwing 2 yard outs than DG did throwing go routes. DG sucked.

Keene is on the Milton trajectory, sub par Freshman year so that means he will be Heisman caliber sophomore. Gabriel with his career 5-1 td/int ratio was awful.

I was day drinking in a dive bar over here in Brevard just now and in comes a guy with a orange Gator shirt. His first comment was, "Gators are gonna beat UCF by 50 points." An hour later he was agreeing with me that UCF is probably going to win. Bowser Bowser Bowser... :p
If Bowser can make it through the game! He's an impressive specimen when healthy. Rare combo of power and fleet-footedness.

We just need Bowser to soften up the run defense until the 2nd half. We got this.
Yeah, we need a lot more than just that. Bowser can certainly help, but those are high-level SEC front seven guys on the other side of the ball. They’re not going to respect our vertical passing game, so running the ball down their throats will be pretty tough. They will certainly play man on the outside, and they have the guys to do so (led by DB Elam, first round pick).

I think we are going to have to take down-field shots, hit on a couple trick plays, and use O’Keefe (pre-snap motion) running outside zone plays. That’s where we can loosen them up, off-tackle (as long as receivers block).

Defensively, forcing turnovers has been somewhat of a strength for us, will need 2-3 of those. But we’re talking about slowing down a top-15 offense in the country.

We have a huge challenge in front of us, don’t get it twisted.
