when Derek Chauvin inevitably walks ...

Holy Cow, you live in some alternate universe than most of us if you really think Nelson's closing has won the day.

But the responses I've heard here certainly emphasize that it just takes a single clone of crazy or sk8 to create a hung jury.
Lol. You have a 100% historical record of never taking anything into consideration if it doesn't match your confirmation bias. Do you really think that's how everybody operates?

Holy cow still going. Did they take lunch? I’m a hangry fellow - If I was on jury All I could think about was lunch. It’s 2pm local time

Anybody that watches the defense closing and thinks it isn't effective is an idiot.

Only 1 prosecution witness said that meth is bad for you. 90% artery blockage is no big deal. An enlarged heart is a good thing. High blood pressure is a healthy situation. Fetanyl is no big deal even in high doses.

It may not have played a role in Floyd's death, but for expert witnesses to say those things totally undermines their credibility.

Showing video that proves that Floyd was on his side for over 2 minutes and still screaming that he can't breathe.

Every commentator on both WAPO and ABC is black. Like that isn't intentional, lol.

Bahahahahahaha! "Nelson is trying to show the jury how big Floyd was and how black Floyd was."

That's pretty obvious race baiting. Good for ratings though.

With the defense testimony being so short, Nelson has to tie it all together in the close. The state's rebuttal should be longer than their close too.

Yeah, riiiiiiiiiiight. I'm the one with confirmation bias. :)

If you go back to the original thread back in May of last year, you'll see that I was very upset at what the video depicted. As more evidence has come out, my position moved. Through the course of the trial as all of the evidence has been published, it's pretty obvious that my initial response was incorrect.

You've ignored all of that and still feel like your original feeling is clearly the correct one.

Well the trial ends the same way it started, with the prosecution on its heels and presenting evidence that had not been admitted previously. Sheesh.

A lawyer getting paid thousands of dollars just used the term "examinated" after saying "why does all of the testimony matter when a 9 year old told you exactly what happened."

Lol.

The closing statement from Blackwell tells you everything you need to know about where our criminal justice system is today.

I'd laugh, but its pretty messed up.

"Nelson: So I have moved again for a mistrial. Such a modern problem to have, I walk from this court room to room where I'm permitted to stay, I've received thousands and thousands and thousands of emails, can't even look at that particular email anymore. My phone gives me alerts on things that just happened. Can't avoid it, so pervasive, I just don't know how this jury can really be said to be free from the taint of this. And now US representatives threatening acts of violence in relation to this case.

Cahill: I'll grant you Waters may have given you something on appeal to reverse all of this."

This is just absolutely insane. The last 2 things that came from this trial were:

Floyd didn't die from a heart that was too big, he died because Chauvin died from a heart that is too small.

Followed by the judge basically telling the defense that they should appeal the ruling because a US congresswoman is inciting riots.

Just wow.

I think there is plenty of reversible error for appeal beyond that. At some point it becomes cumulative

Blackwell: "Mr Floyd had a fatal arrhythmia is what the defense would have you believe. This isn't true"

Coroner's report: floyd died from a fatal arrhythmia.

Total and complete insanity

I haven't watched one second of the trial but it sounds like a sh!tshow. A lot of guessing based on so many factors...resisting, covid, drugs, restraint, etc
In my opinion, I really do think the drugs probably were the primary cause of death. Lane drawing his weapon on Floyd as early as he did probably kicked in a huge adrenaline rush, the meth was stressing his heart, and the fentanyl was suppressing his breathing. From that point he was in a total panic attack and wasn't able to control himself, so the cops really didn't have much choice other than to restrain him. The whole thing just wore out an already weakened heart and it gave up. It's just the perfect storm of factors and to his detriment Chauvin was there at the culmination of it all.

To make its case, the state says “ignore all of these physical ailments, ignore the drugs, ignore the environment, ignore the procedure book, and the defense is lying to you, any 9 year old knew just from the video that Chauvin was guilty and it’s just that simple.” Its Shook-level prosecution.

The defense says “look at everything and account for the totality of the circumstances. If you can’t say beyond a reasonable doubt Chauvin killed him and not any other factors (that even the defense doctors said would’ve been enough to kill him), then you cannot find him guilty. And oh by the way, if you cannot state beyond a reasonable doubt that Chauvin acted unreasonably given the totality of the circumstances, then you can’t find him guilty either.

Pretty good summation. In my opinion, Floyd probably would have died in the squad car on the way to the police station had they just closed the doors and drove off. His GAP was nearing zero and would have gotten there by the time he got to the police station.

Imagine if Trump weighed in on this while the jury was deliberating.
This is hard to believe. Totally irresponsible. Where’s Shucky?

He’s basically calling for riots and saying it’s OK by not denouncing it ahead of time. If they don’t get the verdict that they want.

Where is Shucky?

I am a bit surprised that our President would weigh in on the case before there was a verdict.

But on the other hand, you seriously have to question how any unbiased person could believe Chauvin should be found innocent of any wrong-doing in the case.

As I've said all along, the question before the jury is: how much responsibility for Floyd's death do we place on Chauvin for his actions/inactions?

Have you read the transcripts of the trial yet? Or are you just gaslighting in your second sentence based on an uninformed and biased opinion?

Biden needs to just shut his mouth

I had a client say that there will be riots regardless of the verdict
