Will John Walker Make an Early Impact for UCF Knights?

pretty sure Walker said one of the things he likes about Gus and co was that they weren't breathing down his neck everyday, they let his be a kid and a highly sought out prospect.

it sucks but thats how it goes when you're good. If we intend to sign more John Walkers this is what the process will be like with each and every one of them. But you cant let them feel like it'd us or nobody, thats how you really lose them
Some would say they chose the school that seemed like they wanted him more. Everyone is different.

We also don't know the relationship recruits have with Gus. Maybe Malzhan tells them to go on and visit other schools for the experience and also maybe learn about other recruits. Maybe he tells them to enjoy themselves and have fun at it. Who knows?!?

For me, I wait until the ink dries! :p

He's one of our top recruiters right now. It was my initial thought when I heard about these visits he's been taking. It's rather brilliant strategy.

Yes, It may be a strategy... HEY LOOK GATORS REALLY TRYING TO GET THIS GUY...but he is going to UCF...Let's follow him to Orlando where THE FUTURE OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS!

Napier will be fired in 2 years and will be starting from scratch again. Meanwhile, UCF is building for bigger conference and has a greater shot at CFP than Gators.

(just hoping this is true and John Walker keeps his commit to UCF)

I think he's ours. Just look at how involved his parents were during his hometown hero commitment party.

Seems like the vibe in Gainesville is pretty 💩. The Brenton Cox situation, players and he himself have expressed shock about his dismissal. The Media is already turning on him as well lol. Is Billy Napes already losing the team? I never thought he was a good hire, never thought he would last. Dan Mullen was an absolute weirdo, but one bad season (6-6) and he gets fired? No way Billy makes it, they about to go 4-7.

Napier's history suggests otherwise.

from a recent article on upcoming high school playoffs:

Recruit to watch

John Walker (Osceola DL)

Walker is the headliner of a loaded Osceola defense that has players committed to Oklahoma, Florida and Rutgers. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound UCF commit is ranked No. 13 on the USA Today Florida Network top 100. Through Week 10, Walker had 48 tackles, nine tackles for loss, eight sacks and two forced fumbles.

Man I hate to say it out loud and I hope I am wrong. But when I saw we were going after the 2 DT’s from South Florida (Hammond and Rumph) I was hoping that they weren’t a backup plan for Walker. It is looking like that may be the case, like I said I hope I am wrong.

He has been playing UCF for months …you don’t visit Gainesville that much for some reverse recruiting like some fans have convinced themselves. would love to be wrong but every sign including when he scheduled the UF OV says he is flipping. He is going to claim something changed this weekend but not buying it

But then he posts stuff like this. I think he’s smart and knows what he’s doing, to keep everyone intrigued and in suspense. But I agree that he will eventually pick the Gators

Florida has done nothing on the field to win him over. UCF, however, has done stuff on the field to lose him.

He is a Knight in my book until/unless he proves otherwise. If he picks UCF, he is a hometown hero who is true to his word and impact player for life. If he chooses Florida, he is probably overrated and UCF hafs
other guys on the hook who are better players, just not as well known

We can use 3 DL men they need to rotate and stay fresh

Walker knows the deal.

Go to UF, he's not sniffing the field for 1-2 years

Come to UCF and he's making an impact on day 1.

Those are his options btw UF and UCF.

That is not true. He is really good and UF’s defense isn’t loaded

Should see the dorky post any moment now “first of all, thank you all knight nation….after discussing with my family, jesus christ, and the 3 wise man ive decided…..agtg, go gators, respect muh decishun”
Yep. There’s a reason Gus wasn’t in the photo for that “in-home visit.” He wasn’t going to waste his time. Which I agree with. His talents are better used on kids who are interested in coming here.

“Pretty close in the race”??????

WTF? I don’t get these kids. It’s really simple: Don’t commit so early if you don’t want to look like an a-hole.

Do all the bullsh*t posting you want without the early commitment. The tweet above would be looked at totally different from both fan bases if he wasn’t committed.

Why can’t these kids figure this out?

what makes this one more annoying is the ‘Hometown Hero’ stuff .

Because they are raised by parents who dont discipline them and never teach them things like accountability or how to be a man of your word. This behavior is then supported when we put them on a pedestal for being really good at football….in high school

This is why I like waiting for the ink to dry. But, who knows, if he rides the pine at duh gators maybe transfer back home to UCF in a year or two after Napier is fired (inevitable)
