Will John Walker Make an Early Impact for UCF Knights?

I've suspected all along that he was just using UF for UCF's benefit. To make UCF look cooler. To convince others to join him. His commitment celebration appeared very genuine to me and I truly believe that kid wants to be an Otown hero.

Wasn't that from months ago though? I didn't think that conversation took place last night.
don’t think it did either

would happily love to be wrong . I am not sure what intel uf 247 got to think he is not going there but I haven’t seen an official ‘I am going to UCF recruitment is closed’ statement

Probably didn’t want to drop to a 3* by shutting it down for UCF.

Funny you say that because on 247 he moved up to Top 103 from like Top 125 or something. I was thinking they were anticipating a flip to the gators. He will be #150 now when the final rankings come out.

not sure if I agree . I think the T Will uncertainty had an effect with him and other recruits..that seems to be over for now

Their moderator on 247 said he called around to people close to the situation after JWs OV to UF and the tone was seriously downgraded from the days before.

Maybe he's realizing he'll make far more of an impact here than at UF. Especially if he has NFL aspirations (which doesn't everybody?)

I think he is ranked higher than trystan hill but t hill was a solid 4 star that started as a freshman and eventually got drafted

If you can’t play at UF you can’t play in NFL.
WTF? There is a limited amount of positions, and a school like UF gets a crap ton of 4 and 5 star guys.....and it used to be worse before scholarship limits. You can definately have multiple draftable guys across one position and have draftable guys playing behind them. Joe Burrow couldn't start at Ohio State....guess we never heard from him again.

What are you talking about? We aren’t talking Ohio State or QBs. We are talking DL. You can play multiple in a series. Let alone a game. Start naming DL that never played and made NFL. Ill wait. The way they worded it was he would be great for us and never play for them. If hes great for UCF hed be great anywhere. You aren’t better or worse because of where you play.

I'll just assume we interpreted the first post in a different way than you intended it and move on.

First the Magic beat Boston in Boston. Then the Gators get smoked in their bowl. Then the Jaguars beat the Cowboys to keep our playoff hopes alive. Then the Magic beat Boston in Boston again for their 6th straight W. Now this about Walker. What a f'n sports weekend!!!

It is what it is. We're not the only school having this issue. This is (and has been) life in a world where kids can flip anytime they want (basically). Kids should commit to programs, and not coaches, per say. Yes, you can have a guy you really trust but when you haven't even played a snap yet, or had a practice, or even stepped on campus as a student-athlete, you should probably let the process play out for a year. You can always transfer.

If I flipped jobs every year or two I'd never be any good at it. There's a lot to learn, good and bad, from every job.

I'm thinking Gilyard would have gotten a lot of snaps this season...just saying.

Ed Oliver was a 5 star stud that lived up to his billing at Houston. Immediate impact of having 2 sacks in his first game as a freshman against Oklahoma. In the end it wasn't enough to take Houston to the next level and as someone who is super talented he left early for the NFL.

Defense can't hide weaknesses around one player, and can't rely on one player during a time where Transfer Portal is always calling.

Is it unprecedented for a player to participate in bowl practices with one school, and then choose another? That would suck but also it would be hilarious

It's a good situation for Walker He should get playing time, but won't be required to be a starter. The perfect for a true freshman. Should be a similar to the role that Hunter played this year.
