Breaking News: Dungeon Member Opts Out of Watching KJ Jefferson

(Wire Services-Orlando)

Today, long time Dungeon member GoodKnightNurse announced he will opt out of watching UCF QB KJ Jefferson for the remainder
of the 2024 season. When contacted, GKN said “ I have to think about my future. Every time I watch him try to impersonate a
legitimate D-1 QB, my eyes begin to bleed. I can’t be selfish. I need my vision to read bedtime stories to my young granddaughter,
and watching KJ play quarterback will no doubt accelerate macular degeneration”.

When made aware of GKN’s decision, head coach Gus Malzahn commented, “ I am so jealous of GKN right now. He gets to opt out
for the rest of the season and I’m stuck watching this crap QB every stink’n day”. Tell you what, think I’ll call Kristie right now and
be sure she has a bourbon waiting when I get home. On second thought, make it a double.

Is The Ted Roof Experiment Over?

Sitting in the stadium tonight and I saw many of the same issues on D that were problematic last year.
Missed tackles (looking at you Ethan Barr), missed assignments, receivers running wide open, etc.
Roof was supposedly brought in because of his experience and promised aggressive approach. We have
better athletes (Pace, Tennison, etc) than last season and yet TCU and Colorado did pretty much whatever
they wanted. Was telling earlier in the week when FoxTV analyst Brock Huard described UCF’s Defense as “vanilla”.
Roof had two weeks to prepare for tonight and it looks like we regressed. Also, let’s admit our D Line is mediocre
by BIG XII standards. Hunter, Barber, Lawrence, etc don’t keep any D coordinators up at night.

Post season travel hypothetical

Let's say, some how, UCF ends up as one the top 7 rated teams that is not a conference champion, we get picked by the selection committee, and we get to host a playoff game in the first round at the Bounce House on December 20 or 21. So we know season ticket holders would have to purchase tickets for that just like we used to CUSA and American conference championship games. We host the Vols and Gus wears down the Fightin' Heuples by running it down their throat.

We then win and play a conference champion in a bowl game on Dec 31 or Jan 1. Lets say it is the Peach Bowl vs Ole Miss at 1 PM Jan 1.

We win again (bc Kiffen does something really dumb). Next we move on the semi finals bowl games (semi-bowls?) on Jan 9 and Jan 10. This time against Ohio State in the Orange Bowl. Ryan Day's Buckeys are winning until they see Jim Harbaugh in the stands, and craps himself like he is playing Michigan, and UCF moves on the final.

The Final is back in Atlanta, where UCF plays Utah for the third time in six weeks.

With that fan fiction done, how many of those games ( conference champion ship game in Dallas, home playoff game, bowl game in Atlanta, bowl game in Miami, and second game in Atlanta ) would you be able to attend, on short notice?

DO NOT OVERLOOK COLORADO

Prime will have his boys ready to come in here and smash our face if we for one second overlook this team. You know he’ll be laser focused being a 14 point underdog so we better match that intensity from the kick. No thinking about next week, no being overconfident as a favorite, no getting caught up in the Big Noon hoopla. Don’t fall for all that buttering up of Malzahn by Prime. You know he wants this one bad. Better come ready for a fight!

Hire Gus

Just as an experiment to counter that stupid 'fire gus' thread, let's try this one.

Be a Positive Paul and not a Neggie-Nancy and make some good statements about Coach Malzhan. (lobocane need not apply).

I'll start...
I like the run first mentality. If they know you are going to run the ball and you are still successful running the ball, 9 times out of 10 you gonna win.
Recruiting is top notch. His spider web amongst High School and other college recruiting circles is wide.
Coachspeak. He knows it, we know it, he plays the game of coachspeak very well. Wins the press conferences. Takes blame, inspires to always improve.

Most importantly, we are 3-0 and winning cures everything....

This is not time to panic

Welcome back.

As I said, we needed to lose a game. There is something about getting the first one out of you that I could feel we needed. Our coaches and players are too uptight, we weren't having fun. These are the changes we need to make. If we make these changes we can still win big.

1. Unleash KJ's arm on the first drive and stop being a "run first team". Stop with the running on first and second downs and then having to throw on 3rd. Stop with the idea that we are going to run down and make the opposing defense tired. We need to evenly mix in passes. This creates excitement, confidence, and loosens the players up. It needs to be more 50/50 rather than 70/30 as it is.

2. How to do this? Throw it over the middle of the field and trust KJ.

3. Stop taking the ball out of the endzone. Start at the same position every time, it creates consistency for the offense.

4. Have fun! Our players are not having fun, everyone is up tight. Look at Travis Hunter, he is smiling every play, even when he makes a mistake.

Now is to the time to take this on the chin, and unleash KJ's arm going forward.
