From play caller to shot caller... Top 5 reasons

Tim Harris Jr. should be given the keys to The Kingdom as UCF's new coach.

No. 5, Harris is a homegrown Pokelando product! He has connections all over South Florida. Y'all missed on Kamala, so target Tim!

No. 4, Talent! Harris is recruiting like his hair... er... head is on fire! Swint wants to stick with the Knights. The No. 1 juco RB is on board. Myles Montgomery appears to be staying put. All the players returning and staying true to UCF suggest Harris is the next big baller.

No. 3, Harris can hold the staff together. All of the current coaches won't have to have their contracts be bought out by UCF, and Harris can continue what Gus started: Another year of Addison Williams!

No. 2, All the money UCF saves on hiring a new head coach can be poured into retooling the already stacked roster that Gus left. The Knights won't miss a beat.

And No. 1 reason to hire Tim Harris, Jr. as head coach is so it can be Hurricane Season all year long!

Getting Back with an Ex

I know a lot of Dungeon people don't appreciate long posts in the forum, so move along I guess, or hate me in the comments...

Getting Back with an ex girlfriend is usually not a great idea. Statistically it rarely works out. While I couldn’t find an exact percentage by searching around on the internet, experts seem to agree it’s between 40-50%. And of those only 10-15% actually stayed together for the long term.

The main factor to impact if couples got back together had to do with the reason for the breakup. If the reason included abusive, negative, or point-of-no-return type behavior, then the likelihood of reconciliation for the long term was low... nobody wants to repeat the same problems. But if there were life circumstances that broke them up, and not necessarily poor behavior, those were the folks I believe that were figuring it out.

A lot of people have been using the ex-girlfriend analogy concerning Scott Frost and his potential reunion with UCF. And a Frost hire could be a good business decision for points discussed in other posts, but his failures at Nebraska are legit concerns. The anti-Frost crowd claim he's just a nostalgia pick, based on emotion. So let's lean into that a little bit. Here. I’ll use a more specific "girlfriend that got away" analogy...

Imagine you met the love of your life and had the most amazing run of relationship success. She was perfect for you and you for her, only she told you she MIGHT have to go home someday as part of an arranged marriage. But you didn’t care, you loved her in that moment and thats all that mattered. Everything came easy for a couple of years, and the love grew into an amazing success. Then one day she says to you: “ Listen, I didn’t think it would happen, but I’m being called home and I cannot let down my family.” You’re absolutely devastated, but you understand, you knew this could happen. You love her so much that you let her go. She breaks your heart.

Fast forward seven years. You’re single, a little bit down, and with a couple of seriously mediocre relationships in the rear view mirror since your real love left you. The new girls were ok, nice ladies, good people. But neither made your heart beat faster. They weren't the right fit. You still think about the one that got away all the time. AND you know she’s not happy. In fact, her arrangement fell through, and her father had passed. She’s now free to do whatever she wants. She didn’t handle being away from you very well. She in fact make some poor decisions. But that’s all in the past now. She’s telling you she’s sorry. She’s admitting she should never have left you. She’s being humble. On top of this, she’s coming back super rich. Like she can’t even hurt you financially. You know in your heart you still love her, you always will.

I know a lot of people are saying "you don’t go back to ex’s", and "look what happened in Nebraska"… I think you mean well with your commentary. But given the chance to right a wrong, reconcile a love lost under favorable circumstances. I just think most people would go for it. I realize UCF shouldn't make coaching decisions based purely on emotion, and I hope TMO is doing everything he can to secure the best coach possible. But I thought I'd have some fun with the ex girlfriend narrative for those of you that like to read. And I say let’s go get Frosty, because he fits. It's just as simple as that. If it doesn't work out there will be up-n-coming OC's and G5 HC's to choose from in a couple years, just like there are now.

Cartwright getting paid

UCF’s board of trustees voted Thursday to extend President Alexander Cartwright’s contract by one year, raising his pay to more than $1.2 million and giving him a $270,000 performance bonus. Cartwright’s contract, which was set to expire in April, now extends through April 12, 2026 and raises his base salary from $750,000 to $900,000. The extension, approved unanimously, also increases the president’s potential annual incentive bonus from $300,000 to $375,000, meaning Cartwright could earn up to $1.275 million next year. Cartwright has been the University of Central Florida’s president since March 2020. In its evaluation, the board said the president “exceeded expectations” and “excelled in areas of research, achievements, strategic partnerships, national recognition and in particular, new state investment in our institution.” It also noted that UCF this past year surpassed the 2026-27 goal for patents awarded to faculty.

Caden Piening committed to UCF during the spring game and the tight end returned on Bounce House Weekend for his official visit.

"Just the player interactions I've had (really stood out)," Piening said. "I've had a great time with Randy Pittman. He was taking me around and showing me places. Overall, I just really enjoyed it."

Piening spent his younger childhood in Orlando before moving to Cincinnati in 2015.

"I've been reminiscing about past times on the drive over," Piening said. "It was great seeing places I grew up going to when I was young, like Fun Spot. Then we had a great time at Universal."
