Remind me about Frost 1.0

Forgive me if my memory only remembers the good things from Frost 1.0.

What were some of the concerns we had before?

Playcalling?
Clock management?
Hubris?

Not to create a negative thread. I’m ALL IN on Frost coming back. I think you’ve all seen that with my post history.

I want to dive deeper than just the “retreads don’t work” or “look at Nebraska!”

What were some coaching and staffing issues we had with him in 2016/2017 that we will be able to see if he’s rectified quickly or if he will have the same hurdles to overcome?

I could probably go read a game thread and get all my answers.

I’ll hang up and listen.

Way too early look at 2025

Obviously we don't have dates yet, and those could also play a major factor (cold weather, consecutive road games, etc), but just looking at next year's OOC and home/away conference slate:

Jax State (8/28): CUSA champs, will be good home opening test for UCF. Their 2024 schedule includes a win over Liberty, whose coach had been mentioned as a candidate here. They will be playing their bowl game right here in Orlando against Ohio, if anyone wants to get a sneak peek at them. I'll give this one to UCF, as the home field should be electric with Frost making his return

North Carolina A&T (9/6):
FCS Team at home. If Frost loses this game, the honeymoon ends quickly. UCF wins this one easily.

North Carolina (9/20):
Home game against flagship P4 team, both with new coaches. I'll give this one to North Carolina.

From here on, all conference dates are TBD:

@ Baylor - a game that UCF should be able to win, but will put this one as a toss-up, edge to Baylor
@ BYU - might be one of the toughest games on our schedule, this one goes to BYU
@ Cincy - another game that should be manageable, but put this as a toss-up, edge to Cincy
@ Kansas State - along with BYU, one of our toughest games of the year. This one goes to K-State
@ Texas Tech - same as Baylor and Cincy, but I'd give the edge to Texas Tech on this one
Houston - manageable home game; edge to UCF
Oklahoma St - this year was surprisingly disappointing year for oSu, but I have to think they'll bounce back next year. Toss-up, edge to oSu for now.
Kansas - manageable home game; edge to UCF
West Virginia - another opponent that will have a new coach. We lost by 10 points at Morgantown this year, I think we pull out the win at home.

Way too early outlook: 5-7, with 3 of the games being toss-ups

Obviously the conference schedule dates and transfer portal will play a huge role in how this actually shakes out

OT: To all you fathers out there who have kids that like baseball.

In a move that will reverberate through not just MLB, but the entire worldwide sports landscape, Juan Soto agreed to a record 15-year contract worth $765 million with the Mets on Sunday, according to sources, to usher in the Winter Meetings.

The deal eclipses the $700 million contract over 10 years (which included significant deferrals) that Shohei Ohtani received from the Dodgers last winter. MLB valued that deal at $460 million in present-day value because of the deferrals.

Redemption...

In my older age I have come to take hold of redemption stories with much joy.

If Scott Frost wants to come back why not have arms wide open?

He came back to coach our team in the bowl game that led to our 13-0 season.
He had all the tangibles come together here and a lot of interest from the recruits.

Why not again? At least it would get us back to the offense we had our greatest
success with. We would definitely need a good DC to go with this hire. I believe
that he has more wisdom at this point through his struggles after leaving.

Manny Diaz or Darrell Bevell?

Should UCF hire Manny Diaz away from Duke? The Blue Devils are currently 6-1 and Diaz may finally be getting his legs under him as a head coach. I also like Miami Dolphins QB coach Darrell Bevell. Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel rarely gives his assistant coaches much authority to make decisions and Bevell may be looking for a fresh start in his coaching career. Two possible HC candidates for UCF currently under the radar. I also realize this is wishful thinking on my part but most of us want to see Gus Malzahn relieved of his duties

Let the dungeon decide

So with Gus gone, I'd have to imagine the sandhill crane tease for commits is also gone. That means I need to make a new "gif"/graphic for the bat signal. What do yall feel should be the new signal? Should I make one to try to use moving forward or wait to see what UCF uses as the teaser and build off that.

I expect some of you to be civilized with these responses haha but not many

Dungeon NIL Donation

Let me start by saying I’ve always said I would never give to NIL but feel like I need to show some more support after Frost got hired. I’ve seen a lot of us say throughout the coaching search we want someone who gets UCF.

This post may not get any traction but I think it would be cool if there were others interested in making a donation too how much the Dungeon could put together in the next couple days.

Gus left the roster a bit of a mess and Frost has a lot of work in the portal. Even if it’s $10 everything adds up.

I’m in for $1,000. Anyone else?
