Topic of Sylla's energy came up in another thread (obviously, his two 3's last night excited the crowd) and I here was some of my response and more:
In tough games...he still has to play under control, especially on the defensive end...as many times, he is a fouling machine. (Fouled out vs Wichita St in just 16 mins).
Yes...he can hit the 3...but like in Wichita State...60% of his shots (3 of 5) were from 3...(all misses)...plus other times he is hanging out on the perimeter, which means he is not underneath for offensive rebound opportunities. (In 16:42 mins vs Wichita St...he had zero offensive rebounds and just 1 defenisve rebound).
He is young...and I suspect he should improve a lot by next Nov...but still would like to see MUCH MORE inside game from him...as he is usually much quicker than his defender and could be even more valuable down low (for easier buckets and more offensive rebounds).
DYK: In 128 mins of play this season, Sylla has taken 24 three pt shots (8-24, 33%) but just 13 two pt shots (9-13, 69%).
Sylla only averages 1 offense rebound for every 16 mins of play (again, because he spends a lot of time near or at the perimeter because he likes to take 3s). While Thoiune is not a great rebounder...he averages 1 offensive rebound for every 13 mins of play.
