The XFL comes to Orlando: Meet Guardians LB Terrance Plummer

In 2023, the XFL will relaunch featuring 8 teams, including the Orlando Guardians. Recently Trace Trylko from the Sons of UCF spoke with Guardians linebacker, and former UCF Knights great, Terrance Plummer about the launch of the new season. In his four year career with UCF, Plummer was an all-conference player and the 2013 Fiesta Bowl defensive MVP.

Slightly OT: If you could move 1 and only 1 team from each FBS Conference...

Slightly OT: If you could move 1 and only 1 team from each FBS Conference & Independent, who would it be and why? Use teams as currently on track for 2023 football season. No wrong answers, I just went with what seemed to make sense. Your reasons are your own. (Idea stolen from twitter)

AAC-Navy->Ind
Fb only schools limit conference, go balls deep or gtfo

ACC-FSU -> SEC
Prototypical SEC program stranded in hoops conference

B1G-Rutgers->MAC
Pretty obvious fit

B12-UCF->ACC
Replaces FSU, better regional fit

CUSA-UTEP->MWC
Better regional fit

Independent-ND ->B1G
Gives Indiana that all important 3rd B1G program

MAC-Bowling Green-> Sunbelt
Cultural and regional fit

MWC-San Diego St. -> PAC
SoCal

PAC-Colorado->B12
Back where they belong

Sunbelt-Texas State->CUSA
Cultural and regional fit

SEC-Vanderbilt ->AAC
Perfect fit with SMU, Tulane, Tulsa

Chinese Balloons

A Chinese spy balloon floats around for several days and Biden does nothing about it--Republicans call for his resignation for putting Americans at risk.

Three Chinese spy balloons floated over the U.S. during the Trump administration and no one knew anything about it and none shot down.

My question: do you think they had "Made in China" stamped on them?

"Darker" brand version

With all the talk of Citro or Knights, I'd like to throw out an idea: I always thought UCF was missing out by not coming out with a "darker" brand (think Molly Hatchett album covers & Frank Frazetta). The Knight mascot really lends itself to this treatment. This darker brand wouldn't replace the existing brand work, but could be used on special occasions for like schedule posters, social posts, and special edition shirts.

Nice way to support stalwart UCF fans and a worthy cause. I DMed Jan and hope to have Britt pick out some earrings for my wife and have them ship it to me. Figure it’s a win win win here

Sylla's present and future on the hardcourt?

Topic of Sylla's energy came up in another thread (obviously, his two 3's last night excited the crowd) and I here was some of my response and more:

In tough games...he still has to play under control, especially on the defensive end...as many times, he is a fouling machine. (Fouled out vs Wichita St in just 16 mins).

Yes...he can hit the 3...but like in Wichita State...60% of his shots (3 of 5) were from 3...(all misses)...plus other times he is hanging out on the perimeter, which means he is not underneath for offensive rebound opportunities. (In 16:42 mins vs Wichita St...he had zero offensive rebounds and just 1 defenisve rebound).

He is young...and I suspect he should improve a lot by next Nov...but still would like to see MUCH MORE inside game from him...as he is usually much quicker than his defender and could be even more valuable down low (for easier buckets and more offensive rebounds).

DYK: In 128 mins of play this season, Sylla has taken 24 three pt shots (8-24, 33%) but just 13 two pt shots (9-13, 69%).

Sylla only averages 1 offense rebound for every 16 mins of play (again, because he spends a lot of time near or at the perimeter because he likes to take 3s). While Thoiune is not a great rebounder...he averages 1 offensive rebound for every 13 mins of play.
