Knights Lost During 2022

I wanted to start this annual thread so we could honor fans, players coaches and anyone else lost during the year. New Years is a time of hope and looking forward so let’s take a moment to recognize those lost.

I can update this post with names. Mention whoever you’d like, even if they’ve already been mentioned.

I’ll start by honoring @CancerSucks

Gut wrenching post and a reminder how being kind to one another matters.

2022 in memorial:

Can UCF Hoops go after bigger/thicker Centers? (Maybe from the USA?)

I realize Asst Coach N’Diaye is from Senegal...and helped bring his countryman Thioune via Utah...and also helped bring Sylla (from nearby Guinea via Ontario).

Even in the AAC...UCF needs BIGGER bodies (like 5th year Durr but hopefully more offensive game) vs the thin pencils like even a 5th year Thioune that easily get muscled out underneath.

Going into the Big 12 next year...I hope to see more MUSCLE down below...and less focus on thin sticks with limited game....as the transfer window in May should open up more options for JD to choose from for our first year in Big 12.

JRP

If he wants to become a better QB and start next year he needs to focus on football and not be at the baseball complex in the spring. He HAS to work on passing and working with his line. If he wants to play baseball Idk how much better he can get going into next year.

Season is over. Nothing meaningful will happen with JRP at Qb

Doesn’t matter that we beat Tulane. Doesn’t matter how much talent we have on offense at the skill positions. Doesn’t matter how defense plays. We won’t be able to win CCG or Bowl game with a WR playing QB. We are just too one dimensional. A better team like 6-4 UF would have shut us out tonight. Nothing left to play for because the future has already been written. Gus has given us the death sentence

Oh well. Better luck next year I guess.

How Much Money?

This isn’t going to happen, but what would it take to get Scott Frost back to UCF as our head coach? I miss the days of McKenzie Milton actually throwing the ball deep down the field. We all know Scott Frost is pretty loyal to his coaching staff and I’m not sure if I could tolerate Erik Chinander as our DC again. UCF’s defense was shaky under the tutelage of Chinander and repeatedly gashed under the tutelage of Randy Shannon. Different coaching staffs but our defense isn’t good going into the Big-12 conference. During the Duke game, Marc and Gary continuously told the audience that the Knights could rarely generate any pass rushing pressure for the entire 2022 season. The second time around, Scott Frost may not be willing to leave UCF so quickly for another HC job.

Lots of debate so want to see how many Knight fans actually want, like are going into next season hoping, JRP is our QB.

“The idea is to just keep it simple. Do you want this, would you feel good about this? If there’s a consensus that we don’t want JRP at QB then perhaps the discussion can change.

A debate on whether he is our best option I think looks different and is more civil than a debate over whether he is actually even serviceable, let alone good.”
