UCF Basketball Roster

It's been clear for a while that Sean Mobley and Tony Johnson Jr. aren't part of the squad anymore, but I just noticed Mobley was officially removed from the roster. Tony Johnson however is still listed. Neither has been spotted on the bench since early December. I asked Dawkins about their status earlier this month and he was really vague, just saying, "We'll see what their status is as we go forward."

Well, neither has made an appearance since then.

OT: Afghanistan UCFSports connection

In case people don’t wade into the political thread, I want to recognize @nosurf2day for the work he has done. Yesterday he posted about having a contact for getting people out of Afghanistan. About an hour after his post, a UCF grad buddy of mine reached out to me about a family of 6 he was working to get out. Abdul Rasoul and his wife and 4 young daughters were holed up and desperately trying to get out. I reached out to @nosurf2day and he connected us to people on the ground over there. We were able to compile all of the family’s info and get it into the right hands to get approved to get on a flight. Now the problem is that they need to get to the airport and get in safely which unfortunately is almost impossible odds. They are being advised to shelter in place until they have a fighting chance to possibly get out. This is a huge long shot to save this family but they would have zero chance without The Dungeon. Does anyone have any Tier One assets at their disposal to conduct a rescue? Had to ask. We would appreciate your prayers for a miracle here.

OT: F150 4WD

I didn’t want to highjack the Bronco thread.
I have a 2014 F150 with 4wd. I rarely use the 4wd but once in a while when I am pulling my boat out of the storage lot or up a slippery ramp I’ll put it in 4wd low. When I get on flat paved road I try to switch it back to 2wd high. It seems to have trouble switching back and it starts telling me to pull forward. Eventually it switches back but sometimes it switches back with a huge bang. Am I do something wrong? Is this normal?

Future of UCF MBB this season and beyond?

I'd admit, I am hurt after tonight's game vs usf. The usf team is the worst team in 3pt shooting and offensive rating. But they beat us by more than 20 points and on fire with 3 pt shooting.

I'd admit, I was a big fan of Coach Dawkins. I think his recruiting is stepping up gradually but still far off from the Big 12. Big 12 is D best College Basketball conference in the country. More than half of current Big 12 teams are going to NCAA Tournament.

The current trajectory and momentum of this UCF MBB Program is not going to do well in the Big 12. We will most likely be the worst team in the Big 12. Imaging us hosting Kansas and playing Baylor on the road, with this same old sh#$, we are not going to be competitive. We are probably going to be humiliated just like tonight

I'd admit, I was hopeful for this season with possibility a NCAA Tourney run plus beating some quality teams in the tourney, possibly Sweet 16. But that turns out to be just day dreaming.

But I am hopeful. Tonight is a Q4 loss for us. usf is 250 in NET Rating and we were 54 before tonight.

I have become a huge UCF MBB fan since I came to UCF when I was a freshman. I still remember when we got Nik Garcia, a top 150 player by rivals, and Marcus Jordan on Monday afternoon, I was yelling and screaming. But after more than a decade of UCF MBB, all I remember is the same old disappointing stuff day after day. We went to NCAA Tournament once and should have won the Duke game but we lost.

But I never gave up. I always cheer on my dear Knights game after a game. I will tell you, for the last 15 years? I never missed ONE GAME. I either channelsurfing, net or CBS Sports Network the game when we were in CUSA.

Finally when we can possibly turn the corner and be a successful program? Temple game happened. And tonight usf game happened

This program with the current trajectory is always going to be a second tier sport for UCF fans. Season ticket holders are going to be less and less.

I will keep supporting the program. And I still have high expectations for UCF MBB this season. I hope today's game is just abnormality. I still dreaming us making the NCAA Tournament

But after that, our program may need a change of leadership before or after the season and get ready for Big 12.

That makes me scared thinking of Big 12, Kansas, Baylor, and Texas Tech. Wow, I have one conclusion: how will we win?

UCF vs Florida gear

Given we beat the Gators, something we wanted a shot at for a long time, you would think we would have more t-shirts and memorabilia out with the score on it. Other than the few I seen on Ebay anybody know of any sites you can get a score of the game on a shirt or any kind of picture framed items? UCF bookstore I haven't seen much. I work around too many gator fans and need new gear they would enjoy.

OT: Heater

Just moved into a new construction home and I’ve turned on the heater maybe twice. Tonight being the third time.
I’ve noticed that it doesn’t really blow hot like I’ve noticed in past apartments when you turn the heat on.

Tonight I decided to mess around with the Nest and went into the equipment menu to “test” anything heat related. Once I got to the aux heat, it started smelling burnt and my fire alarms went off.
I’m still under warranty so I can always put in a ticket, but just thought I’d ask if that’s common.

OT: Financial Advisor meeting

So my wife and I have a meeting set-up with our financial advisor thru Edward Jones that I did my son's college fund thru for the past 6 years when we moved back to AZ. We have utilized the same Edward Jones office and have had no issues. The office has always been quick to respond for as rarely as I needed to make minor adjustments but we have gone thru a new advisor every 12-18 months as people come and go. We are finally branching out into things past work 401K plans, company stock options, and our small single stock account and looking at a 20-25 year plan.

I think i'm the type of person that would be more loyal to an individual broker than I am to the company they are with and ready to begin vetting a couple advisors. Outside of a joint Roth 401K that we could set-up ourselves ,i'm not sure what else they actually do? Does anyone have any tips they can share on questions to ask, things to look for etc? At this point I just want to show them we are at "Point A" based on what we have done the past 10 years on our own and for them to get me a 20 year plan to get to "point B" based on branching out on some other things i'm not familiar with all while being able to stick with the same person for as long as possible.

OT: Georgia Reports Recruiting Violation (Staffer gave visiting recruit family cash at Campus Bookstore)

Of course the staffer said he just lent the parent $$$ and was expecting to be paid back (right....). Of course he wasn't paid back and UGA had to report this and 5 other minor violations from this past fall.

From link below:

According to The Athens Banner-Herald, one of the football violations occurred after a Georgia staffer lent a recruit's parent money at the university's bookstore. There was promise of repayment, but it did not happen after the staff member failed to collect the money prior to the family's departure from campus.

UK Royal Society Speaks Out Against Social Media Censorship ...

More and more authorities are weighing-in, and against such ...

QUOTE: "In a new report, it advises against social media companies removing content that is "legal but harmful". Instead, the report authors believe, social media sites should adjust their algorithms to prevent it going viral - and stop people making money off false claims."
But wouldn't that work 'stop people making money off false claims' against the US Mass and Social Media narrative, when they are proven incorrect as well? ;)
