Rob Calabrese to the LA Rams, had been in the mix for Kentucky OC

Via his wife's IG:

Nothing on Twitter yet about the hire or his role. RoCal had been serving as the NY Jets' QB coach.

I had completely missed this, but RoCal was also being mentioned for Kentucky's OC:

In a story earlier this month:

The past three times Stoops has hired an offensive coordinator, he turned to the NFL ranks, snagging quarterbacks coaches in the first two instances. Should he take a similar path this time, Calabrese, the New York Jets’ quarterbacks coach, might be the most sensible and realistic name. Two years ago, following Coen’s first departure, Calabrese was a target in Kentucky’s search, but remained with the Jets. He just finished his third season with the Jets and spent the previous two years as an offensive quality control coach with the Denver Broncos.

Before that, he had experience in college as the offensive coordinator at Wagner College in Staten Island, New York from 2017-18, where he helped it average 28 points per game in his final season, its highest mark in nine years. With Aaron Rodgers set to return next season from an Achilles injury, giving Calabrese the chance to work with one of the sport’s all-time quarterback greats, would the timing be right to return to college?

***Antione Jackson brings confidence, big potential to UCF's secondary ⚔️🏈

Antione Jackson's journey has taken a new turn.

2023 was a pivotal year for the former four-star cornerback from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard. That should have been his senior year of high school, but a strong academic standing enabled Jackson to graduate a year early so he reclassified from 2024 to the 2023 class.

He initially signed with Miami, but later asked for a release so he could attend East Carolina alongside his girlfriend, Karina Gordon, a women's basketball player for the Pirates.

Jackson was 17 years old during his freshman season at ECU, playing in 10 games and starting three. He finished with 19 tackles, three pass breakups and one interception, which was a pick-six. He earned a PFF season grade of 66.3.

Looking for a fresh opportunity with an eye on returning to his home state, Jackson hit the transfer portal following the season. Nebraska, Utah and Colorado were among his many offers. However, UCF had the combination of location, familiarity and opportunity.

"They reached out pretty quickly," Jackson said. "I didn't know UCF was still interested in me. A lot of schools hit me up, but UCF stood out."

His connection with the program goes back to his sophomore year, when he first visited with his 7-on-7 team. The Knights had been recruiting him since his freshman year, leaving a lasting impression.

"When I came here, I wanted to hear about straight football and how I could make the program better," Jackson said.

With Corey Thornton and Decorian Patterson moving on, he'll have an immediate opportunity to contribute at cornerback, but can also play nickel and safety.

"I'm a corner that can lock down," Jackson said. "I can play all three positions in the back end, and I can turn the ball over."

On the field, Jackson said he's known as a ball hawk.

"Put me in man-to-man coverage the whole game if you want or zone coverage, it doesn't matter to me."

Transitioning to UCF has been seamless for Jackson, who finds comfort in the familiar Florida weather and environment. He also has a great connection with UCF's secondary coaches, Addison Williams and Trovon Reed.

"Coach Addison (Williams) is a cool guy," Jackson said. "I can see myself building a bond with him outside of football which is very important. He can help me as a man, not just as a football player.

"Coach (Trovon) Reed is a great guy. We've only been communicating for a week now, but it's been great so far. He did recruit me at Auburn. I knew him from back then during my sophomore year in high school. I'm very excited for this year."

Looking ahead, Jackson has ambitious personal and team goals.

"For myself, I have a lot of goals," Jackson said. "One goal is to win the National Championship with this team. Being a National Champion would mean a lot to me. My goal is to up my draft stock. I want to be the best version of myself. Create more turnovers. I want to catch double-digit interceptions. I want to ball out this year."

2024 is the debut of the 12-team College Football Playoff, making the path to a championship much more clear.

"I don't care if it's a four-team playoff, eight teams, or 12 teams," Jackson said. "We're gonna win a Natty this year. I'm very excited. We've got the guys. Every position has got depth. We have great players at every position. This is gonna be the year."

Dungeon Members help flip usf grad family into UCF Fans

One of my nicest neighbors is actually a couple who both got their undergrad degrees from usf.

They adopted a baby (Declan) from a Filipino Mom who wouldn't be able to support her baby and when the child was 3, they moved in across the street from my house.

The first 2 years living across the street, Declan thought I could be the REAL Santa Claus due to my belly laugh and large life size back then.

At about 5 years old, their Mom told me he had taken an interest in UCF and one day, I gave him one of my UCF House Flags and he excitedly put that in his room.

Last few years, he has attended multiple UCF Soccer Camps and this summer, he will attend his first UCF Basketball camp. He also has done the UCF Youth Summer Book Club Program several times and generally blows thru 100 plus books during the school break. (He is soooo smart).

Declan always yells "Charge On" if he seems me working in my yard and now had an assortment of UCF Clothing attire as he always reps UCF when he can.

2-3 months ago, his parents mentioned about wanting to go to a UCF Basketball Game and I asked fellow fellow Dungeon Members if anyone had extra tix and both @AGLamb and @UCFGrad05.

The family was suppose to go to their first game on a Wed night but Declan had his annual tests (kid has perfect grades) and cried when he couldn't go. (His cow u Dad and a friend went and had a blast!).

Last Saturday, Declan and lots of friends were all able to go to their first UCF Game and now Declan AND his friends are hooked on UCF Basketball. (Even Mom and Dad have UCF Gear to wear as well!).

You will probably see these guys at this Saturday's game as well and if you do, give them a "Charge On!".

Moral of the story...even cow u grads can see the light on how wonderful UCF is today.

PS. The kid LOVES everything and anything to do with NASA. Been to Space Camp TWICE and knows Astronauts are heroes.

SPACEU is set up perfectly to fulfill his future dreams.

OT: State pushes bill to inquire full insurance coverage and registration for E-Bikes and Scooters

I know some in the Dungeon have E-Bikes and others might have kids with scooters but if you live in NJ, you might soon have to register both of them with their DMV plus carry the following insurance:
Liability Coverage
Personal Injury Coverage for Pedestrians
Uninsured Motorist Coverage

A few other states require DMV registration and Insuramce Lobby is pushing for more (because it will "hopefully" lead to required insurance coverage and more $$$ for those companies).
