Rivals has continued its partnership with Pro Football Focus (PFF) which grants me access to their comprehensive analytics and statistical tools.

After each game, two separate analysts grade every player on each play of the game and the two totals are averaged out. Obviously no subjective ranking system is perfect, but I am finding that my real world impressions of a player in a certain game usually reflects the PFF grade.

Deciding to wait until Wednesday didn't result in a tangible difference in grading. UCF's starting OL outside of Amari Kight graded poorly, which is puzzling. Medley in particular was dinged for poor pass blocking and I'm not sure why. No QB pressures or sacks were attributed to him.

They both attended the UCF v Stanford game together years ago. She is a UCF grad and supporter.

Frankly, I can't believe I'm even positing this but this team has declined more rapidly than I ever thought possible.

I still see 3 more wins via Houston, Cincy and one surprise W.

Crazy breakdown as to why KSU would win the tiebreaker if OSU, OU and KSU finish at 7-2.

I was inclined to post the first set of grades today, but every starting OL except Amari Kight graded poorly (under 60) and that seems a bit off.

Highest grade is JRP at 85.5, RJ is second at 78.9.

Defensively, Demari Henderson has the highest grade among starters (75.5). Most players graded well, even Walter Yates.

Yes, LB Andrew Harris had his first defensive snaps. He and Kaven Call played in the final series. Harris got a 74.7 on just three snaps, which is great.

CB Brandon Adams only got 8 snaps because he got hurt early on. They took him off for x-rays, I think.

I'll be heading off the coordinator interviews in a bit. Will maybe post later or just wait to see if there's an update tomorrow. PFF rushes to get up grades on Sunday morning but sometimes has B-level graders on college games. There is supposedly a second review on Monday that is supposed to use the all-22 film (if available, apparently PFF gets it) and grades can be adjusted. Sometimes it's a minimal adjustment, but sometimes it completely changes.

Just two more wins until full mid season mediocrity is reached

Beshear won a 2nd term in ky, looks like Dems are going to win the senate and possibly the house in VA. Abortion rights won easily in Ohio. Mississippi still hasn't been called yet. Are Republicans going to wake up yet?

Texas Tech has been fairly average for most of their history. Usually around .500 or slightly better, you see a lot of 5, 6 and 7 win seasons. Never any terrible seasons though. You have to go back to 1983 for the last time they won less than 4 games.

Obviously they've been tough leagues (Southwest and Big 12). In more recent history, the run with Mike Leach was easily their most successful. The peak there was 2008 when they finished 11-2 and were in a three-way tie for the division but lost a tiebreaker to Oklahoma. They've never appeared in the Big 12 Championship Game.

Wikipedia lists 1994 as a "conference championship" but that comes with a heavy asterisk as 10-0-1 Texas A&M was ineligible for the conference title that year due to NCAA sanctions. There were FIVE co-champions of the Southwest with identical 4-3 records. Texas Tech being one of them.

To find the last legitimate conference championship, you have to go back to 1976 when they were Southwest co-champions with Houston, finishing the season with a 10-2 record. Their head coach was Steve Sloan, who later would become UCF's AD from 1993-2002.

I saw a clip looking back at his 2013 season, he needed all the bounces.

The Georgia game: I remember watching the go-ahead touchdown off the tipped pass at a dinner with the wife (TV behind her at the bar). Amazing ending. Restaurant went wild.

What I didn’t realize until today was the 37-17 lead Auburn had in the fourth.

And of course The Kick Six the weekend after against Bama.

How many other games in his career has he blown big leads (to then win or lose) or needed a miracle to win?

His luck barely ran out eventually in the NC game against FSU but barely. They had that game.

Something definitely follows this guy around.

I had the opportunity to do the Rise and Conquer Fantasy Camp this year. What. An. Experience. I highly recommend doing this if you get the chance. I don't know of any other Division I school that offers such unfiltered, unrestricted access to a football team's fall camp. The coaches were all very welcoming, very helpful, and very open while I was there. The staff was also great and happy to answer my questions.

Some of my highlights:
*Sitting in team and position meetings, watching film, learning play terminology
*Watching Tuesday's scrimmage, standing right behind the QB on every play.
*Spending time with Coach Frost at practice, and in his office, talking about football, and non-football related topics.
*Spending time with Coach Chinander as he went over his defense, and how he plans to handle the triple option teams this year.
*Spending time with Coach Walters and breaking down FIU game film from last year.
*Listening to Coach Duval talk about the strength and conditioning program. We are light years ahead already of where we were before, and are aiming to get better.
*The crazy amount of UCF gear I received, including Rise and Conquer shirts, and custom UCF Nike Shoes.

A few tidbits to share about the 2017 team for this year from my observations while I was there.
*Defense will still be the strength of this team. We have a really great front 7, potentially the best in the conference. Frankly, I did not see a drop off from last year while I was there.
*Shaquem Griffin is a beast, and already in Defensive Player of the Year form.
*Offense overall is better than last year. We will have more weapons with speed.
*Everything said about Noah Verdal's performance is true.
*Overall I think we will be a better team than last year, though we may face some stiffer competition from teams on our schedule as well as other teams in the conference that also improved.

UCF is set to host top commits, one big remaining 2024 target and top prospects from the 2025 class and beyond for Saturday's Space Game against Oklahoma State.

The list includes 11 UCF commits, many of whom will be enrolling in less than two months.

Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake offensive lineman Dominic Steward is also expected to return after making a visit earlier in the season. He's currently committed to Troy, but has since a big push from UCF, Missouri and ECU to name a few.
