Temple saw some early success moving the ball, but UCF"s defense clamped down and didn't allow the Owls to see another score from the midway point of the second quarter.

UCF quarterback John Rhys Plumlee had his best game, completing 18 of 22 passes for 373 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for three more scores, accounting for seven total touchdowns.

Why does the UCF Defense struggle so much with early game drives?

UCF's 2nd half defense has been stellar...heck, much of the last 3 quarters the defense has been stellar but when it comes to start of the game drives, UCF's D struggles and gives up points right away.

Wonder what TWill could do for the start of games (he doesn't sub early on...even when the offense makes substitutions in a hurry up. I think he should always sub out 1 player so the other 10 can get an extra 15-20 secs of rest...especially going up against a no huddle offense) to help create more punting situations?

Look back at early drives this season:
Louisville:
First drive...10 plays, 75 yards TD.

FAU First Q:
First drive: 6 plays, 87 yards, TD
3rd Drive: 12 plays, 88 yds, TD

GT:
First Drive: 8 plays, 51 yards, missed 32 yd FG
3rd Drive: 2 plays, 73 yards, TD

SMU:
First Drive: 4 plays, 29 yds, fumble
2nd Drive: 8 plays, 75 yds, TD

Defensive Staff makes great changes at halftime and sometimes even after the 1st Q...just would be nice to not let up so many early drive scores which puts UCF behind the 8 Ball early in the 1st Q.

What do you want to see vs. Temple? Score predictions?

The vibe in regards to UCF's offense certainly changed for the better during that second half vs. SMU. But I really need to see week-to-week consistency because it really has been yo-yo performances (often dictated by the strength of the opposing defenses).

Temple's defense is good statistically, but they did give up 30 points to Duke in the opener and subsequent opponents haven't been juggernauts on offense. So we'll see how good they really are.

I love UCF's defense facing an anemic offense with a freshman QB and o-line issues.

UCF really needs to be hitting their stride going into the final half of the season.

I'll go UCF 38, Temple 7.

I was wrong

I was critical of Gus about JRP. I did recognize that Gus may be seeing JRPs upside but that he should have started Keene and that JRP wouldn’t develop.

I’ll say it: We would not have lost to Louisville if JRP had had a few more games under his belt. I know it was temple and we shall see, but I continue to see better pocket presence and better accuracy from JRP.

If he can continue to improve and the Oline can continue to play well this team could win the conference. Gotta keep improving but they are doing just that.

It’s almost as if the ole ball coach knows more about football than I do. Go figure.

Temple QB's dad is a Pro Football Hall of Famer...

E.J. Warner is the son of Kurt Warner.

Kurt obviously has one of the best stories of anybody in the Hall, going from the Arena League to one of the best in the NFL.

E.J. is a true freshman. He came off the bench in the second game and earned the starting job after that.

Here's how Warner has stacked up game by game this season:

Space Game Improving Weather Forecast: Oct 13th vs Temple

One thing us forecasters hate to see is to have a LONG stretch of great weather prior to an upcoming game...because this is Florida and the weather will change.

Thursday, Oct 13th

Day: High of 81
Scattered thunderstorms. High 81F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

Night: (Kickoff just after 7 pm), Low of 68
Partly to mostly cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms before midnight. Low 68F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 60%.

The blip of good news is Friday's forecast only calls for 19% chance of rain so if this weather pattern speeds up, we could end up with a drier day on Thursday.
