College Baseball teams are cancelling late OOC games to improve/preserve RPI

This is an interesting trend. As we're approaching the final week of the college baseball regular season, teams are starting to cancel games for RPI purposes:

Texas A&M cancelled a midweek vs. Incarnate Word because IW is terrible and they want to preserve RPI in hopes of hosting a NCAA Regional.

Ole Miss just swept LSU, which got them back into the bubble with a No. 38 RPI, and really needs to play well vs. Texas A&M this weekend (as in, finish with a winning SEC record). So Ole Miss just canceled a road game at Arkansas State. A win wouldn't do anything, only tax available arms, and a loss could doom their NCAA chances.

Liberty also just cancelled a game vs. High Point. Liberty should be the favorites to win the A-Sun Tournament and the automatic bid, but they could be a borderline at-large team if not. Their RPI is currently 40 and High Point is sub-200.

UCF Softball's Denali Schappacher: "Coming to UCF is the best decision I've ever made" 🥎

Denali Schappacher has given her all to UCF, a full-time starter and one of the team's best hitters ever since she arrived on campus prior to the 2018 season. The outfielder didn't hesitate to use her additional year of eligibility to come back for a fifth season as she and her teammates had big goals in mind. They've already achieved three of those, sweeping the AAC regular season and tournament championships and now hosting a NCAA Regional.

OT- It keeps getting better- Monkey Pox now in U.S. ...

Very OT: Orlando based fans of European Soccer (Europa League Viewing)

My very own Glasgow Rangers are playing in the Europa League final today. The Orlando Rangers supporters group isn't hosting games at Gamechangers still but Murphy's Pub on I-Drive is hosting a watch party. Doors have already opened. I imagine a big crowd. Swing by if you want to rip domestics and hear accents to go along with some SOCCA.

Football Parking passes going digital for next season?

Just got an email from UCF and it mentions digital parking passes for next season.

From the email...

  • Save your tickets and parking to your phone. We strongly encourage all fans to save their tickets to their mobile device prior to gameday. This will reduce lines and expedite your entry into the Bounce House.
  • Transfer your tickets and parking to a friend. You can email your tickets and parking to family, friends, colleagues, or clients quickly and easily.
  • Resell your unused tickets and parking. Tickets can be resold directly on Ticketmaster.com through your account manager. Sold tickets can be paid as UCF Account credit or direct deposit to your bank account

Remember when UCF played games on Sunday night?

I just started thinking of this today with the Black Friday announcement of UF-FSU (how UF has never played a non-Saturday game in forever) and Benny Z. complaining about Thursday/Friday games. Remember when UCF had Sunday games?

There were a bunch of C-USA games on Sunday nights in the late 2000s.

In 2007, UCF played a road game at Southern Miss on a Sunday. A big win which helped win the division.

In 2008, UCF played a road game at Tulsa on a Sunday (got hammered 49-14, Tulsa was ranked #19). The following week, UCF lost to ECU at home on a Sunday, 13-10 in OT.

In 2009, UCF's 21-20 comeback "rainy mist" home win vs. Marshall was also on a Sunday night.

Outside of maybe a Labor Day weekend game on a Sunday, I don't think college teams have played on Sunday ever since.

Are you a member of a club?

I noticed the new WBB coach spoke to the Winter Park Rotary Club yesterday.

It's something you don't really hear much about anymore. It seems like it was something more popular with previous generations, pre-internet, etc.

Rotary, Kiwanis, Shriners, Elks, etc. Even something like Toastmasters which has a little different scope.

Just curious!
