Brandon Marshall's I Am Athlete gets XM deal/nightly show

Very cool to see him doing well. Leger Douzable is going to be the host of the nightly show also.

SiriusXM and I Am Athlete, the athlete-led media network founded by former NFL All-Pro receiver Brandon Marshall, announced today they have joined forces in a new expansive content deal that includes a live nightly radio show and other game-changing projects.

The new agreement will expand the already popular I Am Athlete platform by delivering new innovative programming to more fans who want an authentic “locker room” perspective on sports and pop culture directly from those who played the game.

I Am Athlete and SiriusXM will produce a new nightly show that will air nationwide on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio (channel 82 on SiriusXM radios and on the SXM App). Debuting this Wednesday, April 27, I Am Athlete Tonight will air live every weekday from 7-9 pm ET/4-6 pm PT.

Former NFL defensive end Leger Douzable will lead a cast of rotating co-hosts that will feature Marshall, former NFL players LeSean McCoy, Brandon Flowers and Adam “Pacman” Jones, former NBA player Antoine Walker, former WNBA player Chantel Tremitiere and journalist Omar Kelly as they engage in the type of thoughtful, unfiltered discussions that the I Am Athlete podcast is known for. I Am Athlete Tonight episodes will also be available as podcasts after they air on SiriusXM.

Former co-starter alongside Joey Gatewood signs unique NIL deal

I share this link because it's brilliant marketing among a university, its advertisers, and athletes.

Boise State tight end Riley Cooper who shared quarterback responsibilities with Joey Gatewood during their time at Bantam Trail HS signed a NIL deal that allows Smith to wear his team gear on Boise State's blue turf in a television commercial due to a partnership between the school and its preexisting sponsors. These "co-branding" relationships benefit the school, advertisers, and athletes.

The Boise State administration really had a unique vision for navigating NIL hurdles. I have not seen this from UCF yet, but hope to soon, as these opportunities help promote all parties.

OT: The Augusta Rule Tax Strategy

The Augusta Rule seems like a slick way to write off a “business expenses.” Not sure how legit this is though to claim a monthly shareholders meeting. I am looking at this from the perspective of having multiple rentals with each as it’s own LLC and having an umbrella S Corp over them. My guess is the S Corp would need its own address. I would guess a PO BOX would not suffice.

The Augusta Rule

What is the Augusta Rule? The Augusta Rule lets homeowners rent their home for up to 14 days per year without needing to report that rental income on their individual tax return. This rule applies to any taxpayer who owns a home in the United States as long as your home is not your primary place of business.

OT: RetirementTax Financial Advisor

Looking for recommendations for a financial advisor. I plan to retire early, sometime in the next 0-3 years and want someone who focuses on tax strategies, rule of 55, backdoor and double backdoor ira conversions. I'm open to them managing some or all of my portfolio, but tax strategies and planning is the priority If anyone has someone they have used and can recommend, please respond or message me. Thanks.

***Season ending injury to starter?***

You always hate to see injuries whenever they happen, but this one especially. At the tail-end of the spring game, with only a couple minutes to go, offensive guard Adrian Medley suffered some sort of apparent knee injury. He was on the ground for a few moments before his teammates helped him off. I'm hearing he ended up suffering an ACL/MCL which obviously means surgery. Because it happened so late, that's likely season ending as well.

Medley was having a good spring. He had been waiting for his turn to start and with Cole Schneider graduating, it looked like that was finally going to happen.

While it's not good news, UCF does have some depth on the OL. I'm not entirely sure what they'll do, but Sam Jackson could slide over to guard as could Ed Collins.

(This interview was done on the Thursday before the spring game. I decided to leave in the J-Flash quote).

Edward Collins' No. 1 goal this spring was to become more versatile within UCF's offensive line.

His forte has been right tackle, but offensive line coach Herb Hand challenged him to add guard to his repertoire.

"We talked in January," Collins said. "(Hand) said I'd be getting more guard reps over the spring to be more versatile... A goal of mine was to get an understanding of each position and the techniques that come with playing guard and tackle. I feel I've done a good job with that, especially looking back to earlier in the spring. I dreaded playing guard but the more I did it, the better I got at it. I feel I'm able to play all the positions on the offensive line."

Fellow senior and UCF guard Lokahi Pauole has always been there to offer advice along the way.

"I always go to Lokahi about stuff with guard," Collins said. "He's always in my ear about different techniques. Going from tackle to guard, you go against a different type of guy. Things at guard can move a lot faster.

"I also watch Adrian Medley's pass pro reps to emulate him, what he does. He's one of the best pass blockers I've seen, especially at the guard position. I'm trying to learn from them."

How was spring in general for the offensive line?

"I think we've had a pretty good spring, especially compared to last year," Collins said. "We were able to come out running following the fall we had. Being able to grow with Coach Hand. He's a great coach and a great man. I love the guy. I feel we've got an experienced group coming back with Sam (Jackson), Lokahi, Adrian, me, Matt (Lee). We've got a great group of guys coming back. We're gonna have a good year."

Among the up and coming linemen, Collins has seen considerable progress from Paul Rubelt.

"Ever since Paul got here, he's been right next to me," Collins said. "Always asking me questions. Good to see him grow up. He's had a great spring this year, especially in pass pro. He's gotten a lot better. Always a tough guy, wants to play hard. He always asks a lot of questions. I'm glad to see things come to fruition for him, especially seeing how he arrived in 2020."

Asked about players stepping up this spring, Collins name-dropped Rubelt again along with tight end transfer Kemore Gamble and running backs Johnny Richardson and Mark-Antony Richards.

"They've been doing great things," Collins said of Richardson and Richards. "Johnny is doing a lot better at pass pro, listening to what the offensive line is saying and knowing his ID, what he has to scan. I think those two guys have gotten a lot better in terms of pass protection."

Who is the toughest defensive lineman he has to face?

"Probably Landon (Woodson)," Collins said. "He's got a rare combination of speed, power and length. When he turns on you, it's pretty hard to stop. Real fast, real long. When I'm at guard, Ricky Barber. He's really twitched up and athletic in there. Trying to stay in front of Ricky is pretty tough."

With the playmakers surrounding him, Collins sees a big season ahead for the offense.

"I'm very excited. I love to see when Johnny gets the ball in his hands. That's a highlight tape right there. Him, (Ryan) O'Keefe, J-Flash, all those guys. I'm really excited to see Alec Holler this year and Kemore Gamble. Those guys had a great spring. We can't wait for the fall to see what they do this season.

"I think we've got a great team. We've got a chance to be really good. That's what Coach (Gus) Malzahn says. Every team in the conference wants to win the conference championship. We know the hard work that it's gonna take. I think we'll have a chance to do that."

Terry Mohajir on WKMG's After The Whistle - He's not too happy with NIL Pay For Play

WKMG's Jamie Seh had a lengthy sit-down interview with Terry Mohajir that just aired on their "After The Whistle" program following the 11 p.m. news. For some reason, they never put these things online - she interviewed Gus Malzahn a few weeks ago that I'm guessing nobody saw because it was literally airing during the end of the Duke-UNC Final Four game. I tried recording the video via the built-in Microsoft Windows capability, but all I got was a black screen with audio so here's the audio.

TMo is very passionate in his distaste for blatant "pay for play" NIL inducements.

***Could Tray Tolliver be UCF's next playmaker? (interview)***

iwzyvyx2b8sir3rbjgiw

Lake City (Fla.) Columbia wide receiver Tray Tolliver visited UCF for the recent Hometown Hero event and came away with some pretty lofty praise from the coaching staff.

"The coaches said I play like their receiver, No. 4 (Ryan O'Keefe)," Tolliver said. "I'm just like him."

O'Keefe is coming off an electric season, making plays not only at receiver but out of the backfield and as a return specialist. He also threw a couple touchdowns.

Tolliver is a do-it-all player in the same mold. He caught 28 passes for 378 yards and two touchdowns, carried the ball 17 times for 106 and two scores, returned three punts for touchdowns, one more on a kickoff return and had a pick-six on defense.

He tore his ACL late in the season, but is expected to make a full recovery in time for his senior year.

UCF was the first FBS school to offer him last summer.

"I really like the coaches," Tolliver said. "They interacted with me a lot. I probably spent the most time with Coach (Kevin) Bolden. I like UCF because they treat everybody the same. Nobody is better than anybody else. My sister also goes here. If she picked it, I know it's a good school."

As for the Hometown Hero activities, Tolliver enjoyed the dodgeball competition.

"My team was undefeated," he said. "We won a championship."

His other offers include South Florida, Arizona, Cincinnati, South Carolina, Louisville, UMass, Missouri, West Virginia and Charlotte.

Tolliver, who also recently visited South Carolina and South Florida, said there's a lot to like about the Knights.

"I like the fact it's in Orlando," he said. "You can't get bored in Orlando. It's an adventure."
