Republicans seem to have forgotten what general elections for POTUS are all about. Once upon a time, it was securing your base by winning the Primaries. Then, you move to the center and put on your 'centrist' cap to attract independents and the majority of people who don't give a rip about politics until a general election.
Where is Trump's voter support beyond his Cultish base? Hell, Trump already has a sizable percentage of independents and moderates who are saying they'd NEVER vote for him.

I thought the same thing in 2016. Unfortunately the American public is quite a bit less intelligent than I estimated.
The only delusion here is with you thinking Trump has no shot and Biden is a shoo-in.
I think Biden will win but it is far from certain. he is not a good public speaker and campaigner like Obama . He needs the run of good economic news to continue and for Trump to implode which usually happens the more he speaks
I wouldn't say there is no way, but considering how many Republicans and independents are not voting for him (low turnout in Iowa, struggled with independents in NH) in the primaries so far bodes well for Biden. I can't see Trump winning back a lot of the suburban women he lost in 2020, and he is going to need them to win. It's still early and things can change, but this already feels like the last few elections where Republicans underperformed.
Look at results instead of polls. Iowa had a low turnout, only 15% of Republicans caucused. He didn't do well with independents in New Hamshire. We are not even 3 months out from Republicans losing the governor race in ky, losing the house and senate in VA, losing the abortion vote in OH, etc etc. There is no trend right now with Trump or Republicans in general that looks good for them. Obviously we are almost a year out, so things can still change, but Democrats have to be feeling more optimistic than Republicans.
The one thing that concerns me is how many on the left are pissed at Biden due to Israel/Palestine. So it is possible too many people on the left vote 3rd party, but as of now I think Biden is going to win.
Please reconsider. Yes Biden is old, but I'll take old over a literal traitor every day.
I know Americans have the right to vote and some dumbasses are going to vote for Trump which is ridiculous, but I just can’t vote for either candidate.
Frankly, they both are too damn old and aren’t offering anything to improve this country.

Vote for Biden and you'll have to put up with him for the 12 or so months he will still be alive for before he kicks the bucket from old age.
Vote for trump and you have the real chance of him (or his spawn) being in power indefinitely. It happened less than 100 years ago in Germany.
some people have really gone unhinged since October 7 and it is one variable that could F Biden bc the Gen Z bump was the buffer to keep Trump from winning the Electoral College . if they stay home it could matter in States like Michigan.

if he wins already know the play he is going to use. He is going to claim he deserves ‘consecutive terms’ and a lot of people are going to fall for it as being reasonable . And with changes in military leadership anything is possible if he gets back in the WH.
That is the best case scenario.
Worst case scenario is trump learns from his Jan 6 mistakes and goes all in on another coup.
Yep. If he wins there is no way he isnt going to try to be president until he dies, and he is going to at least try to put people around him to make that happen.

What I find amusing about this election cycle is how some of the "don't want either of 'em" crowd want to bash Biden while staying strangely silent about Trump. Why? Because they know they'd look foolish defending him.

The economy is the ultimate game changer here. If the stock market is pumping and inflation-gas-interest rates all further stabilize/go down, it is a major positive for Biden.
Traditionally a republican here. Growing up I was considered a conservative but would probably be labeled moderate now. I never believed in Trump for many reasons, so I voted for 3rd party when it was Trump vs Clinton (I thought Clinton was going to win). I learned my lesson when Trump won and voted for Biden last election. I will vote for Biden again if Trump is the opponent but will vote for Haley if she pulls an upset. Maybe we can band together, grass roots movement for moderates.

100%. Lifelong GOP member here, cast my first vote for a Democrat in 2020 after seeing what an absolute embarrassment trump was during his term. Self centered narcissistic asshat that puts his own interests above America's.
Jan 6th sealed the deal, easily the darkest day for our country in recent memory.
It's coming out that Trump is the one sabotaging any immigration bills, because he wants to run on this issue. They can't really blame Biden for the border if they are going make it difficult to do anything about it. It will be interesting to see how this impacts the election once people become aware of it.
An immigration bill to help address border security was introduced during Biden's first week in office. Congress hasn't touched it.
One of the troubling cracks in our country's foundation surfaced back when Obama was first elected President. The GOP's attitude -- as voiced by Rush Limbaugh -- was "we'd rather sit on our hands and let the country fail than work with the Dems to give Obama a win."
So much for the "Patriot" Party.
Nicky would never excite the base enough to drive votes. Ron Desantis could have before he went milk toast.
Only question is will Trump bring out Republican base more than he does the Democratic base against him. Biden is mostly irrelevant this go round. Trump either wins over Trump or loses vs Trump.
Most folks nowadays are apolitical types (independents and moderate righties and lefties.) They've seen enough to know they never want to see him anywhere near the WH anymore.
And for all the 'dementia' talk about President Biden, Trump is the one who is really losing it. The other night in New Hampshire was the most bizarre 'victory' speech I've ever heard. He literally freaked about about Nikki as if he was trailing her in the polls. Hell, if Nikki sticks around through the primaries, she might win by default because Trump looks like he's about to have a mental breakdown and go bananas in front of cameras down the road on the campaign trail.
