He made NO moves to slow inflation?!?!?!? WTF??? You do know that the President oversees the Federal Reserve, right?
Like the Justice Department, The Fed has a certain level of independence. But the President appoints the majority of the board, including the Fed Chair. He can voice his concerns and participate in the conversations but ultimately, he cannot control what the Fed decides to do -- or not do -- regarding interest rates. But it seem to me that The Fed has handled rising interest rates in a prudent fashion the last few years.
Early in Biden's Presidency as inflation soared as an after-effect of the Pandemic which royally screwed up supply chains around the world, it was considered a foregone conlusion that our economy would experience a recession. So what happened? Unemployment is holding steady at is lowest rate in half a century, the economy is growing at a decent clip, wages are rising, and households are not reducing their spending (as Cubs mentioned Travel spending is up.)
Many folks -- me included -- were very concerned about what this coming recession could do to the stock market. But...it hasn't happened. Nothing is ever guaranteed, but it sure looks like we've safely navigated the post-pandemic storms.
Yet we've got people like Ucfmikes who bitches and moans without a fcuking clue how we've dodged a bullet.
