Temple is very good yet we should have won the game....7-14 FT's cost us a victory...

Tacko played one of his best games of the year....10pts, 7reb and 3 blocks in 18 minutes.... and when he was in the game, Temple did not score inside....when he wasn't in the game Temple scored at will inside....

even though we played well, Donnie again showed he has no clue in his substitution patterns.....in one stretch, after he took Tacko out, Temple went on a run, mostly scoring inside....yet Donnie didn't put Tacko back in....then we ended with a small lineup in the game the last 3 or 4 minutes......even when we had the ball for the last shot and there was no reason we shouldn't have had both Tacko and Justin on the floor, Donnie didn't have either of them in there....those two guys could have easily taken up space down low and drawn double teams for a kick out and an easy 3 pointer....and if they weren't doubled, they could have scored for a tie....but Donnie obviously hasn't coached this team to play inside out basketball or for both bigs to be on the court at the same time....

so clueless Donnie had the little guys on the court just dribbling around and trying to hoist one up.....

this is a pretty talented UCF basketball team....Tacko played like a very good freshman C today.....now we need to replace the clueless coach and actually start winning some games....your move Danny White....it's an easy move to make....

Thought one of Tacko's best plays today were when he recognized the double team was coming over, he dished some passes to open players for 2 assists (probably would have had a 3rd one if UCF shot better than 26.7% from downtown today).

While McBride had another ineffective offensive game...he and Tacko did well on boards...as did Shaheed (lead team with 9) and AJ as well as UCF dominated the boards (47-32), let alone UCF's 16 offensive rebounds (too many putbacks just rolled off the rim).

17 assists on 23 baskets was a good sign (Temple had just 10), but poor 3 PT shooting and AJ continues to struggle at the line (just 1-4 today), ended up huge factors in game.

Liked the defensive shift/adjustments in the 2nd half as that confused Temple...as they went from 6-14 (43%) from 3 pt in the first half to just 1-9 (11% in the 2nd half), which helped bring UCF back into the lead late.

DJ has to go immediately…if we let him overstay, we will have the same problem as the football program.

1) fans will lose interest
2) revenue will decline
3) recruiting will suffer
4) snowball effect into permanent mediocrity until a drastic change occurs

Yes. We should have won this game. The free throw impact was even greater than it seems, since several of the misses were the front ends of one and ones.

I'm increasingly frustrated with Jones' game management. I thought he mishandled the end of the game. We could have fouled Temple earlier on their last possession. We could have called a time out on our last possession quicker. Then, there were two series when he really, really needed to call time out, but didn't. The first was when we substituted the starters with about 8 minutes left in the first half. Our offense collapsed and Temple started a run. Momentum totally switched at that point. Our guys were clearly rattled. No time out - he just let it go on. Suddenly we're down 5. The second was early in the second half when he really needed to call time to pull McBride out. We got a defensive stop, but McBride got roughed up and was (strangely) winded. He didn't go down court on offense, and instead of calling time out, Jones let us run a half court offense with just four guys in the front court. We didn't score, Temple came down and scored an easy bucket over a McBride who was too tired to move his feet.

And when is Jones going to do something - anything - when the refs are screwing us over? We were on the ass end of some horrible calls today, and he does nothing to work those guys. Somebody shut off his prozac. Working the refs is part of the game. As even my high school coach would scream at a mugging with a non-call, "Jesus, God ref, get in the game."

Sad to say, but I see a meeting coming at the end of the season like the scene from the Godfather where Michael tells Moe Greene they intend to buy him out of the casino. Greene says 'you think I'm skimming off the top Mike?', and Michael shakes his head and says 'you're unlucky.' And maybe that's it. Jones has caught some crappy breaks. His inherited point guard turns out to be the ward of an alleged runner, his athletic director boss turns out to be a dumb ass, and we end up on sanctions. He gets Marcus Jordan, and Jordan drops out early to go gamble or party or whatever the hell. He gets a 6'10" monster center, and he spends two seasons with an injured knee. He gets two freshmen starters who are 1 - 2 in scoring and conference 1st team freshmen, and now as sophomores both are out with injuries. He's unlucky. Some people just are....

I really, really thought we would do better this season.

I'll read the above later tl;dr, but I went to the game. It was a great game. I thought that basket at the end was released before the light went on. It should have gone into OT. Talked to Tacko briefly after the game at burger-U. He said he thought it went it also. Great game regardless. Glad I went today.

I watched it on TV and it was clearly released after the clock went to all zeroes.

It was certainly a "fun" college game...which is the benefit of being in a tough basketball conf and while its a heartbreak loss, you can't stop wondering "what if UCF had BJ Taylor in this game or in other close games this year?"

It is what it is...but like the fight in the 2nd half when UCF went man-to-man and basically shut down Temple's top 3 pt shooting (went from 43% 6-14 to just 11% 1-9).

Tanks is starting to come on...glad Tacko was aggressive at times (5-5 shooting, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks in less than 20 mins), so you just have to keep on building...as BJ and now Adonys are not coming out on that court anytime soon.

You're absolutely right. All you have to do is look at the student section/future alumni. It's the worst student section I've seen since 2002. Everyone I know that follows UCF basketball finds it frustrating to watch.

The other hidden factor might be due to ESPN3.

True...let alone the game was on ESPNU too.

Yes, while I think national exposure of the program/conf is a good thing...attendance overall in collegiate athletics is down...as every football game and now for power basketball conf (includes AAC), all are now on TV and can be accessed anywhere.

Here's a graph that showed the national TV coverage UCF use to get while in CUSA and what they get now in AAC: (PS. Sadly, UCF Students have successfully completed Pavlov's Dogs excercise...as they are now trained to only show up at a few games each season that hand out free t-shirts).
