So I'm mixed on this. Wasn't the bond forfeit basically paying a fine? I'd argue that point if I was his lawyers. That it is double jeopardy.

I do utterly agree on your 2nd point. She did drop the charges, and would have been better off -- for him -- offering a deal to plea. That would have far more protected him from double jeopardy.
So, in the end, she might have not 'screwed up' after all.

Looking back through this thread is a gold mine. It really exposes people without common sense and critical thinking skills.
The usual woke suspects were immediately ready to believe that this dude got attacked in sub-zero temperatures at 2 AM outside a Subway by two MAGA supporters in Chicago.
It never once seemed plausible, but they have to believe they’re fighting the good fight and America is lost if not for them and their goodness.
I think attacks were faked by insane people on both sides and both sides took the bait. I remember the dude who claimed he was stabbed for having a nazi haircut and people on this board lost their shit and it turned out he stabbed himself.

I dont get this either. The guy came out and said he was jumped, and initially people believed it (I mean, why wouldnt you), and then when more information came out people's opinions changed with the information. I dont understand why this some sort of "gotcha".
