Fire Gus

We have an offensive coach and the offense is terrible. I could see if we were losing 38-34. But we don’t even score.
Gus blamed it on Richardson today in the post game press conference. When is he going to look in the mirror and notice his high school offense doesn’t Work.? The most that he blames himself is saying we need to do a better job. What do you need to do better? Everybody knows what needs to do better why can’t you just admit that your high school offense is horrid. He has also done a horrible job bringing a quarterback who has a fullback mentality Overall he has no answers. It’s been several years already. The administration gives you everything money, facilities, and everything and your arrogance and ego don’t allow you to make any adjustments whatsoever. Stop blaming everybody else because you’re the problem.

Also, how long are we going to stay with this offensive line coach and defense back coach ?

It doesn’t matter who his assistants are. They can’t overcome Gus gaffes. He’s gotta go come Thanksgiving weekend.

I hope the finances don’t hinder this. This guy thinks he’s above UCF trying to prove himself and his ego right rather then getting a good OC and stepping aside.

The concerning thing for me is this roster felt like the staffs attempt at a conference championship run. You manage to keep RB1/WR1 home out of the portal, you bring in RB depth, have experienced Oline, and seemingly plug a few holes on defense, and you find an experienced QB.

Looking at the roster, I don't see how things aren't worse next year unless the backups have incredible off season developments, or we rebuild out of the portal which is leading to shoving HS recruits down the depth chart and players with no skin in the culture for a 1 year check.

why did the announcers say gus is back calling the plays? when did he ever stop calling these shitty plays at UCF?
The beginning of last year they brought Hinshaw in. Personally, I don’t think he had as much influence on the offense then what Gus had said. Eventually, Gus admitted that he had taken over the offense. but you are right he always ran the offense as far as I could tell. The scheme never changed, which is the ultimate problem.

It was . He can’t rewrite history of expectations

And Orlando media is to blame for not being serious with challenging him instead of gaslighting our fanbase with arrogance

If USF can buy out contracts every 3 seadons, we can buy out this ****ing BUM.
Ahhh, no ... they could NOT, actually. They started hitting their academic donations and related endowment. They were pulling $20M+ most years.

We don't do that.
It's become clear that you're a UCF homer doofus like @UCFhonors. Go away.
Just because I pointed out where USF got their money?! Why are you guys literally getting pissed off at me because I'm pointing out the obvious? You're not challenging what I say, but me, the messenger. Answer the ****ing question you prompted!

Do you want Cartwright et al. to pull $10-20M+ from academic donors to pay for Gus' firing, and another coaches hire, like s. Florida did their 3 firings?!

(And that's before we visit the fact that UCF and UCFAA, Inc. are separate, and it will trigger an audit, unlike the Cows. Some of us were around and help build UCFAA, Inc. That's not 'being a homer,' we saw the program built.)

Shame you're so stupid you can only think there are 2 HCs in the universe. You do realize there are many others we could hire?
Shame you're so judgemental of others that you cannot see the statistics, and how many programs go down after firing a coach, and how the overwhelming supermajority of coaching changes don't work out ...

Especially C-USA, MAC and other coaches people are suggesting, just like Dino. They are all Dino types. And I'm using him as an example because people were screaming in 2015 for him, the supermajority at the time.

Just a reminder that Knight on Knight ad hominem attacks are a bad look fellas. Let's stick to the real reason we're all pissed off.

I think Terry's opinion of UCF was pretty low when he took the job. When they talked about his time on the committee he seemed to poo-poo the success of the program and he clearly didn't push to continue the high octane UCFast identity. Hard to see his tenure as anything but a couple steps backwards now. This was supposed to be the season things started turning the corner if their plan was working.

If they have money to pay a 300 pound QB that can't run or pass than they have the money to fire Gus. Get Jamey Chadwell before somebody else does. Proven winner and isn't being paid by another school to go away.

It felt like he equated UCF with Arkansas State. Very different attitude from Danny White , the Hittman, and Scott Frost when he was here. They treated UCF like a destination school, Terry doesn’t.

Scott Frost multiple times : ‘this is the best campus in Florida , this is the best college town in Florida’

I would disagree from the extent that he does not think UCF is a destination job. All his actions appeared be going that way.

In respect to the other guys like Scott and Danny they did leave. Frost took a job, but it was his alma mater, which was understandable, and Danny is now the highest paid A.D. in the country, again understandable but they did leave.

I personally think TM is going through some rough waters right now, but he’s done a good job overall. I do not think firing him is going to solve any problem. He may need to pull the trigger on Gus though . I think he hired an ego maniac with a HS offense when he was forced to make a quick hire to keep the recruiting at day. The extension again, I have no idea the circumstances surrounding that.

Personally, I don’t care what happens but just send this football program in a higher trajectory. I think TM can do it after a reassessing period as to the football coach. Charge on.!!!

PREFACE: My apologies if this was a troll post. If so, well done! Very well done!

$0.425M v. $12M+, let alone any new buyout of the new coach hired. Sigh...

This is 3rd grader math people. Don't post when inebriated any more than driving.

Yeah, because we missed out on Dino! Never again! JFC! That's the exact same argument people made in '15! That we were going to 'miss out' on Dino!

Only Chadwell's buyout is... what, the same as Gus'? It's it at least $10M?! He contract left is $24M IIRC.

When did everyone shoot their own brains out?! I mean, people were complaining about Key's buy out FFS!

Again, don't post while inebriated, especially as we're not even making Big XII money yet.

Think of the money UCF will save when they don't have to hire security and traffic management when crowds plummet. However, like UCFBS says, Gus is a good guy and winning isn't important.
Good point on the revenue loss in tickets, concessions, apparel, etc.

Have you ever made a post without mentioning Dino Babers? I don’t get it, is it some sick fetish?

We have a Grandpa Boom simp and a Dino Babers stalker on one forum? Good grief.

I only adopted it recently. But if you were around in 2015, there were people saying we needed to move on him before he was taken by someone else... the EXACT SAME argument! :)

Only Chadwell would probably double the cost in his buyout over just firing Gus alone. Now that's some massively primo, 3rd grader financial math atop of that!!!

No, I was a 'nuthugger' (although very pro-Frost when his name came up). My point is...

Those complaining Gus must go now, or the program will never recover if it's not done today, and barking various names that will cost even more money to buy out...

Are literally the type of emotional, illogical people who were screaming for Dino. I just want people to be logical, not 3rd graders who haven't done the math.

Saying Chadwell now, immediately, without question is utterly ****ing laughable at the sheer cost. Same with people who say it's worth the cost. They literally expose how they don't know jack, and why we ignore them.

Even Auburn fans are telling the very small minority who are stupidly still blaming Gus 4 years later that Gus had nothing to do with Harsin, and Harsin is really just the primo ****ing example of how and why illogical boosters and fans can **** a program.

But that doesn't stop them, sadly. They are not self-aware, and even Freeze has a lot of people pissed of right now. He throws his own kids under-the-bus, and many players and parents are crossing Auburn off their list for that reason.

None of that has anything to with Gus. In fact, most of the people I talked to who wanted Gus gone would rather have Gus still there than what Freeze is doing to their recruiting future.

And most agree what they let select Boosters and fans do to Harsin is their main issue too.

I think guys who sucked at schools like Syracuse could still be good at a Florida school. No one wants to go to Upstate NY and the recruiting in that area sucks.

You believe he’s done a good job!? I respect your opinion but please show me which of our athletic programs are winning?

Mohajir hired Butch Jones at Arkansas State. Who has gone 14-29 at a school that previously had 9 straight winning seasons and won 5 conference titles.

Mohajir has a history of working with a specifical sports agent that represents coaches. Jones and Malzahn are represented by that agent. Other notable coaches represented by that agent, well compensated Jimbo Fisher and Willie Taggart.

Disturbing. Starts at the top. This can't continue.

Yes people wanted Babers. Not anymore.
Also Kevin Sumlin lol
Dino is WAY overrated. He’s done
Yep. People forget 2015. I was so against the attitudes until Frost came up. I was a skeptic, but ... I was the first one to say, "If you want an innovative offense, Frost is our guy." I just never expected our defensive success too.

Again, illogical!!! Babers had less than a 70% winning percentage in the MAC, and back in I-AA too!

Gus had just shy of a 70% winning percentage in the SEC West, the ****ing toughest division in the land, against fierce recruiting ... especially in Alabama! And Gus had no problem hitting that in the AAC too.

People really suck at 2 things here: History and Math
Make an argument, but don't make us call out your absolutely attrocious history and math!

Leave emotion out of it, and make a viable argument with actual, real history and math accounted for. That's all I ask! It's not that much! And people wonder why I ended up correct almost 4 years ago during the pandemic?! I actually read articles, from medical journals to statistical studies (e.g., why the vaccinated, not unvaccinated, spread Delta).

It doesn’t matter if Gus winning percentage is 1.00. He sucks here.

Sexton reps a lot of these guys unfortunately

I was watching some of Auburn’s 2013 season (particularly the Georgia game), with former CB Nick Marshall playing QB. The one thing I noticed was the speed and crispness with which the offense was run, and I’m not just talking about the time in between plays. The motions, the misdirections, etc were all so precisely engineered by the former CB playing QB, it looked like it was at hyper speed compared to our offense today (not to mention the o-line was getting good push). It’s hard to believe how constipated Gus’ offense looks today compared to 2013.

posters complain about the Cane poster but he has been calling out the lack of recruiting and development of the OLine
