It's interesting to see the diverging opinions between the business community and the Republican party. The GOP used to strongly be the party of business, but that's been steadily eroding over the past 4 or 5 years.
Talented people tend to want to live and work in progressive cities. Forward looking high-tech businesses are more and more going to be clumped in blue states, and red states might become the "new old China" as far as being a place for low wage unskilled workers and shoddy businesses in a race to the bottom......
Take this rift to the extreme and think about what North America would look like if the religious quacks successful pushed for succession in 10-20 years. Holy cow that would suck.
The vocal minority does not equal the majority. You need to use your brain a little more. Ted Cruz, Huckabee et al do not represent the majority of the Republican party.Originally posted by UCFEE:
Like I said, the GOP has traditionally been the business friendly party but as the party keeps moving right and favoring religious nuttery that will continue to change.
And the oil business doesn't count as a high tech job. That's one of the race to the bottom businesses I mentioned
The GOP has not been the party of big business for a long time. The Dem party and Progressive side of Rep party are favored by big business. Wall Street and very large business make their living in Crony Capitalism, The Right side of the Rep party favor individuals and small business. Perfect example is Walmart, they have moved way to the left over the last 10 to 20 years. They favored Obama care, They know they can afford it while smaller competitors can't. So they raise their own cost just to gain a leg up on completion. Wall street has been in bed with the Fed under Clinton, Bush, and Obama. The market wouldn't be 1/2 of what it is without 0 interest rates and funny money rolling of the printing press.Originally posted by UCFEE:

It is pretty rare, other than in very small towns or communities not to more than on persons serving most services. I will give you and example right now, I go to do an estimate, within 3 minutes of arriving I can tell you are a person that will be a total pain to do business with, and have little chance of satisfying, and or making a profit on them, I will most likely over bid the price, and not try very hard to sell you my service. Am I discriminating against this person?? yep. I now have and have had quite a few gay customers, I have no problems with Gay people, but If I did why should I have to serve them.Originally posted by ChrisKnight06:

freedom of religion is fine. but you cannot use religion to allow bigotry.Originally posted by fabknight:
Hey, Tards, I don't know why so many of you hate the fact that we have freedom of religion and the freedom to practice it. That's not what this is all about at all. It's about the government wanting to limit YOUR freedoms and using the cause du jour to do it.
The courts have already made their choice...Hobby Lobby.
I guess freedom of religion is okay only if I want to take hallucinogens.
It isn't the same law. Do better research, and stop listening to Fox News.Originally posted by Bob the Knight:
The liberal haven of Illinois has the same law and Obama voted for it.
Hmmmm...so you're telling me in order to not be considered a judgmental bigot, I have to accept and accommodate everyone else's actions and beliefs despite it being opposed to a my particular religious dogma? Are you telling me I have to comply with someone else's belief structure and that I do not have the freedom to make my own decisions based on my beliefs?Originally posted by Dmarino110:

If we believe in the same god,
1 he doesnt make mistakes,
2 his son said not to judge people which you clearly do,
3 his son said to love one another which you clearly do not
We're not telling you any of that. We're saying if you sell hamburgers, don't deny someone a hamburger because they have different beliefs than you. You can disagree with them, just sell them the hamburger.Originally posted by fabknight:

To own a business, participate in American commerce, and benefit from the freedoms America has, you must follow certain laws. You have to maintain certain safety and cleanliness standards. You have to have clearly marked fire exits. You have to have proper licensing. You have to have ramps for the handicapped. You can't hire 8 year olds to work 16 hour shifts.Originally posted by goodknightfl:

To some degree, yes. If there is a need, some one will fill it.Originally posted by ChrisKnight06:

WTF are you talking about? That's not what this is about, doofus; it's about freedom of religion. This isn't about serving or not serving gay folks.Originally posted by NinjaKnight:
The incredible hypocrisy of the christian religion is just mind numbing. I can totally see Jesus refusing to serve someone because they are gay, just like he refused to hang out with prostitutes because of their sins.
You people defending this are pathetic.
If a person does all the garbage you have up there, they will soon be out of business. That is how capitalism works. The people who wouldn't make the wedding cake for the Gay couple payed a price and went under, as they should have. Bad press will cure most ills. There is a difference between public owned corps and privately owned business. People have the freedom to do business or not to do business with companies they have problems with, that is called freedom.Originally posted by chemmie:

...and you can't be a bigoted jerkoff who discriminates.
Technically, homosexuals are not yet on the list of groups protected by anti-discrimination laws. Luckily, that is changing and the bigoted jerkoffs are losing. Laws like this are made for right-wing simpletons who have convinced themselves that they are an oppressed minority. It does nothing but help them cling to their last hope of a minority-free, right-winged, Christian, and straight, Utopia.
They did the same thing when minorities were fighting for equal rights. They just didn't learn then.

Don't lay all this on conservatives, Liberals have plenty of bigotry of their own. Many are anti Christian, anti Semite, anti black, anti white, anti cop.

Something this ridiculous could only come out of the GOP, sorry.
The sad thing is, you might be dumb enough to actually believe that.Originally posted by fabknight:
