Men’s Basketball Transfer Portal Open Thread

He didn’t play this year and Hall took his job. He needs to transfer to a school where he’ll he the main guy n
I mean, we’ve been through this. He didn’t play this year because he injured his back. To try and paint the picture like he’s transferring because Hall (and because Dawkins didn’t play him) is just flat out incorrect.

You don’t think he wouldn’t have started and played close to the most minutes on the team if he wasn’t hurt, like he did last year?

He lost his job because he was hurt. If he came back he might play but the ball goes through Hall now.

What I wonder how Sellers is how motivated to come back was he once he saw this team had no chance of being anything?

I wonder if him not playing was ultimately a back issue or to preserve his eligibility?

I didn’t mean Mikey by himself. That was the only reason I wanted him to stay. He’s not that good. But he brings eyes.
I mean, he didn’t bring people to watch in the gym. That’s what counts, ticket sales. A lot of empty seats this season, the team was a hard watch.

Eyes on the program from internet trolls does nothing.

That’s how you get big tv deals. Way more money than butts in seats. Random podcasts mentioned us because of him. That’s the point in joining a big conference. The TV money.

I kind of get the sense Dawkins is stepping down. Unfortunately, because the way the system is designed with the portal opening so early, a lot of these guys don’t have the luxury to wait until whenever he possibly announces down the road.

Obviously just speculation, but I wouldn’t be surprised…

lol random podcasts - the Mikey Williams era.

TV deals involve conferences, and we’re in a good one. That has nothing to do with Williams, he did very little to help UCF.

"Curious as to why you have kept this take to yourself until now?"

I'm going to answer this with this obvious statement...UH...DUH...because this website forum is about UCF Sports and by adding a George O'leary quote may spark some memories of who have been here and lived-n-died during the GOL era. George had many Ye Olde Coachspeak that we heard on all his radio interviews and such. One important cliche he use to say all the time is the difference between ME GUYS & WE GUYS. You can interpret that all you want, spin it, degrade it, praise it, but it's a good Cliche' for being successful (or, not) in team sports.

He meant you weren’t saying bad things about the player until he enters portal.

Why accept the Crown invite if that was happening? USF hired their new coach yesterday, you can’t let all potential candidates get taken by waiting a few extra weeks.

Every year players leave the program when they knew Dawkins was staying. Doubt Dawkins is going anywhere, pausing it to coach in the Crown tournament would be silly.

I don't think Johnny's going anywhere and I assume these guys are not playing in the Crown tournament. So, the question is why did we accept the Crown invite if we knew all these guys were going into the portal? The only answer(s) are that we didn't know, or we didn't care (or both). Johnny needs to hold a press conference to explain....

I also agree about the players and the portal but I was referring to him saying he thinks Dawkins is stepping down.
