Mikey Keene is the guy, put some respect on his name!

Do you really need to be told we ended up with 25 points? Is 15 more than 10, unsure.
Keene played a half +1 drive Plumlee played a half -1 drive.

People are acting like Keene led this huge comeback cleaning up JRP’s mess when in fact we were outscored when Keene was in the game. Not saying that’s on him, but let’s calm down.

JRP is the superior athlete. I don’t know if he’s the superior QB.

Mikey hit the receivers consistently tonight and they were on target. It seems like when JRP passes it’s a roll of the dice if it’s even a decent pass. That’s probably too critical, but his passes stress me out.

I just want the best QB to play.

Wrong.

He did. RJ and Bowser both fumbled in the RedZone, we should have won by like 20.

I will not calm down bc if Keene played like this against Louisville or ECU, we are undefeated.

First of all, Mikey needs to repeat this next week at Memphis. But he has really matured since the Cincy game last year. Of the two, he's the more accurate thrower, spreads the ball around and frankly plays with a lot of confidence. He doesn't look scared anymore (like he did at Cincy last year) and that's a huge step forward. JRP is the better runner. I think we saw tonight that getting the ball to our other athletes is critical to our success, so Mikey has an edge over JRP. If Gus can keep Mikey, he has to make the change.

JRP needs to sit out next week and if Mikey continues his excellent play, then he's QB1 and there should not be any controversy. And a couple of questions must be answered...does Mikey want to play out the season and lose his redshirt and does Mikey want to stay at UCF? Both will need to be answered soon.
I think it might be good to have Keene start the next two weeks against Memphis and Tulane. I think his quick release gives us the best chance to win those two games which are probably our toughest remaining contests.

We can then have Plumlee return to health and play against Navy and USF. With this approach, 1)We should be clearly be favored to beat both Navy and USF with Plumlee, 2)will get a better feel of our comparisons between Plumlee and Mikey, 3) preserve Mikey's redshirt and 4) should win out and have momentum for conference championship and a bowl game/ NY6.

Tom Brady doesn’t win that ECU game with the way our defense played in that one.

The problem with that plan is what happens then if JRP gets injured. Then Keene's redshirt is burned.

True but that's life. We need to play who's going to get us the win instead of balancing everyone's demands.

The problem, is if Keene is steps away from the team after he plays 4 games.

That's why, we give Keene the starting role now.

Very happy with the way Keene played, but how am I the first one to bring up that we were up 10-3 when Plumlee went out of the game?
Thank you for being one of the few rational fans posting. My same thought.we might have the most fickle fan base in CFB.

In the plan I suggested, Keene only plays three games,. Cincy, Memphis and Tulane. Thus he still has a fourth game available, which he can play in the event of emergency without burning his redshirt.
I can’t even take this seriously lmfao 🤣

In what real life scenario do you think we play Keene in just those 3 games? If we were to play him those games, he’s the starter for rest of year.

Tricky situation for Gus now since Mikey was money. 4/5 second half drives moved like butter. He was on time and accurate. If Gus plays JRP vs Memphis and he struggles that just ramps up the pressure now and will draw the ire of fans.

Cincy did nit prepare for that offesne
I loved what Mikey did. But Cincy prepped for JRP. I was surprised that Cincy was giving us the short throws. Cincy coaching staff should have remembered last year and that MK is a solid short to intermediate thrower. But if he beats you with the deep ball, tip your hat. But make him beat you that way. I would have been sitting on the short stuff. That being said, he had more zip on his throws tonight than he did at any point last year. If Mikey looked like this during camp, and JRP looked like he has in most games this season, I can't see how you pick JRP over him. I tried to stay neutral on QB1 all year. JRP is the better runner. Mikey is the better passer, at least tonight. Mikey might not be the best fit for the Gus Offense, but, at least for tonight, he made the offense much more effective. He is a competent runner. He can pick up 8 yards or so. He isn't going to make a house call like JRP can, but he, again for one night, was the better passer. And the offense was clicking the entire 2nd half outside of maybe one drive. I don't envy Gus. He has 3 QB's he can win with. Keeping all happy is near impossible. Memphis will be ready for both QBs. If Mikey starts next week, he better be able to hit the deep balls, because Memphis is going to let him have at it. They are going to sit on all the short throws and limit the intermediate ones. God, this season just got a whole lot more interesting!!!!

I think everyone, including Coach and Keene need to quit worrying about burning his redshirt. I think we would be stupid not to try and keep Keene. I think if Coach Gus will give him a better chance he will stay. You know maybe Gus is the one that needs to rethink his offense and whether a running QB who is an inconsistent passer at best gives you the best chance to win.

With a concussion likely keeping JRP out against Memphis, we get to see Mikey from start. Lets see how he does starting. If he does well Gus is an idiot. If he sucks turn it back to JRP.

JRP needs to come back next week bc I don't think MK is staying for more than 4 games. Meaning we need MK for Tulane, Conference championship, and NY6 bowl game.

Mikey takes not one single snap the whole season and comes in and throws 71% on Cincinnati!!

When Mikey is on the field, the ball moves!!! With JRP, it's clunky.

I love JRP, kid loves UCF, gives his heart on every play, and is one hell of an athlete.

But like I have said since the summer, Mikey Keene is the guy!

get in here @AuburnLegacy_1
Been saying that all year. Kid loves UCF and wants to win, and has proved it. First time playing a real game this year, 15-21 for 176 yard for only the 2nd half.

It is a small sample size, I admit it. It was one half. But it was one half against maybe the 2nd or 3rd best team we will play this year if we win out. But whatever time Cincy put into the 2nd UCF QB was about TC, not Mikey.

I agree we as fans need to quit worrying about the redshirt. Who F'ing cares. Kids transfer. Win now with what you got. I am pulling for JRP. I loved what Mikey did tonight. But at the end of the day, UCF is who I care about. Put the best team on the field today and win today. Tomorrow will be tomorrow. Gus is recruiting his off and we ae in the mix for another QB. That is going to be the way of the future. And when that kid doesn't get to play, he will transfer. That is the way it is now. That is why you need to recruit at a high level, and that is what Gus is doing.

One other thing. Cudos the WR unit. They made a lot of tough catches tonight. Many times laying out full body and getting a toe tap to get the catch. Haven't seen that this year. No really, haven't seen it. I don't have cable, but I do have sling. All the games on ESPNU or CBS sports, haven't seen them. But from what I have been told by others in attendance and our wonderful radio team, WR's dropped a lot of passes.

The last thing to mention, could JRP get better? Clearly, he is the better runner between him and Mikey. JRP hasn't played QB since his freshmen year. At times I think he takes a step forward, only to take one or two back as a passer. For those of us out there who have now anointed Mikey as QB1, self included, Mikey will never be the runner JRP is. Be honest, could JRP become a better a passer? Could a few more games as a starter make him better? Could taking a series or two off in a game and seeing it from the sideline make him better? Tough call for Gus. Wouldn't want to be him for the next week or so. Then again, the money is pretty good. Not quite teacher pay, but it's still good.

Again, we are built with our receivers for the quick passes and it opens up the running game. JRP brings a running threat but we are losing too much in our lack of doing what Mikey did today to be a 10-2 team at this point. I know it's a hard decision but the aggressive style with the sort crisp passing game that Mikey showed today is worth another serious consideration. That's why I hope he gets another game next week at Memphis. The kid has grown since last season. TC is future QB and not available this season.

Based on math and stats, UC was the best team we've played this year. I would argue both UL and GTech both recruit very good talent, but as most know coaching has a very strong impact to the team. Miami is a perfect example of acquiring great talent and under performing. I don't see the doctors approving Plumlee playing for at least a week so lets go kick some Tiger tale and close this season out!

Is anything I said incorrect? I said Mikey Keene played great. If I had to choose who played better today I’d choose Keene, but it’s not like JRP was stinking up the game pre-injury. I just think forgetting how poor our offense played under Keene for the entire 2021 season because he had a good half is a little premature.

I want to see Keene start and see how he plays. If he does well we need to take OC duties away from Gus entirely.

I agree. I’m not convinced Keene is the better option to JRP, but would like to see him get a chance to prove it. Maybe best case scenario is JRP sits next week. See how Keene looks for a full game where the team preps for him and then play the best guy vs. Tulane.

Fantastic? He played great, but fantastic, really? Disingenuous? No I’m keeping it real. JRP or TC is still the fit. We wore them down all game with the rushing game.
I think TC is the future, but give him some time to develop. I think Gus handled it well this year, although it would had been nice if TC came in sooner in a couple of our blowout games.

Including his games last season I just feel like we play better offensively with Keene. It’s not just the QB itself but the way Gus calls plays as well. When Plumlee is in it seems like he tries to call “cute” plays here and there for him to run, whereas with Keene in he just lets us get the ball to our athletes and let them do their thing. We have a lot of playmakers. They both have about the same number of games played at this point.
