I don't remember it ever being like it is now. At least there was an attempt to have rules and regulations regarding $$.It has always been about the $$. Just not hidden like in years past.

we need a coach that can evaluate and recruit a 3 star and turn him into a good QB. Gus would just look at guys that lower tier SEC schools wanted. The only exception to this is a coach that is such a star that 5 stars fall in his lap.No matter who the coach is, they need a good QB. Frost, Riley or any defensive coach. I think it’s easier to get a good one in Florida than Nebraska. It really makes no difference who we get. Gus would have been good with a good QB. He just didn’t know how to get them. FSU doesn’t have one either.
Tulane can't keep Sumrall from even a decent profile P4 job (in this case NC, UCF, WV).....Purdue would be different IMO.
With Sumrall and Chadwell I feel like we be 1 to 2 years rental with no intention of being around for the long haul, Odom I am not sold on, and Kinne not sure as he is a Gus understudy.
Prime and Riley are pipdreams.
Frost is low risk high reward, he is a players coach. He would bring excitement back to the program that left about midway thru the Colorado game. And he can be gotten without a buyout.
People make mistakes in life no one on this board is perfect.
Horrible, Horrible mistake if we fall as far as Frost. Go watch the Around the Kingdom podcast, they had several good reasons why Frost 2024 would not be our best hire. With Sumrall and Chadwell I feel like we be 1 to 2 years rental with no intention of being around for the long haul, Odom I am not sold on, and Kinne not sure as he is a Gus understudy.

Can't agree enough with this.....we shouldn't care about saving a few bucks and taking on a bunch of riskLow risk? Not if he tanks the program for 3 years what do we gain? low risk financially but not for the program. His success was 7 years ago and he's been pretty well documented about his on and off the field disaster at NU. Even if a coach leaves in 2 years that only means your program is doing very well and is about to also get a buyout.
He was a great coach.....circa 2017.we are at the point of the coaching search where UCF fans on Twitter are arguing with former players that Frost isn’t a good coach
ready for this to be over
Me too.we are at the point of the coaching search where UCF fans on Twitter are arguing with former players that Frost isn’t a good coach

But what makes you think Frost would not leave if he has 2 to 3 positive years with us? Any coach, Frost or anybody else, is gonna leave us if they have success here and one of the big dogs calls. You’re dreaming if you think Frost will just stay here, no matter how successful he gets. And then we’re right back in the same boat. With Sumrall and Chadwell I feel like we be 1 to 2 years rental with no intention of being around for the long haul, Odom I am not sold on, and Kinne not sure as he is a Gus understudy.

Who knows what he would do - apparently the rumors about him and his wife were that she wanted to stay in Winter Park vs Nebraska but she supported her husband and went to Nebraska. I don't think you go back to an ex, but I see the appeal of the guy. I think he would stick around longer, especially if he brings back the UCFast and our swagger. Everyone wants to think our team was bad when GOL went 0-12 but we had more talent on our roster than UF when Meyer left. Frost inherited some talent. I think the team has talent, we just have to be sure we don't lose it all because we are rudderless at the moment. Things are much different now vs 2016/7.But what makes you think Frost would not leave if he has 2 to 3 positive years with us? Any coach, Frost or anybody else, is gonna leave us if they have success here and one of the big dogs calls. You’re dreaming if you think Frost will just stay here, no matter how successful he gets. If what you say is true that any coach may leave after 2 or 3 positive years then there is no sense worrying about that. I hope we get the best coach possible and we move forward. But what makes you think Frost would not leave if he has 2 to 3 positive years with us? no, he is not the guyThis is the guy to watch…shouldn’t even tell you people anything since you are all always trying to crap on me.

Why are you so hung up on those 3? Gimme insight maybe something I haven't seen. Dont give me anything is better than Frost.Horrible, Horrible mistake if we fall as far as Frost. Go watch the Around the Kingdom podcast, they had several good reasons why Frost 2024 would not be our best hire.
Our top choices should still be:
Chadwell (with Salter)
Sumrall (with Mensah)
Odom (with his OC Marion)
Everyone is welcome to their opinion....I (and pretty much every other media outlet) see us hiring an existing HC with a good recent track record. And these are the best 3 meeting that criteria (others think Silverfield should be a 4th option). Why are you so hung up on those 3? Gimme insight maybe something I haven't seen. Personally at the beginning my thoughts were
Brian Hartline or Will Stein
Highest bidder type of move?Tulane can't keep Sumrall from even a decent profile P4 job (in this case NC, UCF, WV).....Purdue would be different IMO.
I can only assume we are waiting on NC to make a hire since it seems we have similar interests. Seems like WV is going in other directions.
I like Stein but he's never been a head coach correct?Everyone is welcome to their opinion....I (and pretty much every other media outlet) see us hiring an existing HC with a good recent track record. And these are the best 3 meeting that criteria (others think Silverfield should be a 4th option).
Chadwell - 2 conference championships
Sumrall - 2 conference championships, coaching for a third this week
Odom - Coaching in his 2nd consecutive conference championship game, also former P4 HC
Failing that, I like Stein if we are committed to a coordinator, Marion is also a good choice.
Not saying anything is better than Frost, but he probably doesn't make mine or most non-UCF Alumni's top 10.
Sure, wouldn't you do the same? I know I have played one employer against the other and did very well (Mechanical Engineer).Highest bidder type of move?
Correct, there was one guy who said Stein was Frost 2024 in terms of OC experience and location....although Stein has more OC experience.I like Stein but he's never been a head coach correct?
Where did Monday come from anyway?oh they meant next Monday!![]()
With the right coach it will happen. Who wants to play for Gus when he wants to run 40 times a game and go slow I. Between plays? Not when the Florida school is UCF, just they way it is. Their current 5 star QB is just one in a long line of examples. Money talks (or screams in college football 2024) and UCF doesn't have much.
Im ok with the money aspect, but we need contracts. You want to commit? Put pen to paper. This way schools dont get screwed because of a coach leaving. This also allows contract language to be modified for competition (ie:incentives)Which is why I hate where College sports are at this time. It should never have been allowed to become about the money. Look I know all of the young men are dreaming about the pros but the fact is the vast majority of them never will be. Sticking with a school and getting a good education should be primary and that is definitely no longer the case.
Don’t they sign 1 year contracts?Im ok with the money aspect, but we need contracts. You want to commit? Put pen to paper. This way schools dont get screwed because of a coach leaving. This also allows contract language to be modified for competition (ie:incentives)
Wishful thinking in today's game. Even if you uncover a lower rated gem like a Cam Ward, the teams with big money scoop them up. The coach has little to do with it once guys break out. With the right coach it will happen. Who wants to play for Gus when he wants to run 40 times a game and go slow I. Between plays?
Who is that guy who seems so sure of himself and his reportingPlease no to Odom
Have to concur no to Odom now his OC I would be interested inPlease no to Odom
