That’s the buyout owed if he leavesIs that a symmetric buyout? If not, which side did you quote?
Early rumor for DC is the guy that just got hired by Miami as LB coach
I'd be interested to see what the buyout is if we have to fire him as well. That’s the buyout owed if he leaves

Malzahn might not feel like a 'splashy' hire, but he's a solid choice.
With any hire, there's a chance that the wrong guy will destroy all the momentum the program has experienced over the past five years. I don't see that happening under Gus. I suspect he'll keep the program relevant and could build a top ten-level team.
You mean during the Covid year?I gave up my season tickets after year 2 of Heupel. May have to get them back after this guy gets to work. I like what he has to offer. It's good to have a HC with a decent track record.
Who said Gus bus?We made fun of the bus driver in Temple Terrace. Can we stop saying Gus Bus? It sounds weird.
In December after watching how Heupel had run the team for a year his way after giving the team 1 season doing some of Frosty's stuff. I didn't like his lack of balance and just was very frustrated with a lack of good offense and good defense. Granted Frost's defense had tackling issues. You mean during the Covid year?
For what it’s worth, quote from CBSSports: “it's the best Group of Five hire basically since we started calling it the Group of Five about 10 years ago.”

I recall pundits saying Strong to USF was brilliant move.
It's a former P5 coach at a major program, it's like when P5 transfer to a G5 school and when ever they make a play they mention former Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, ect. Player makes a big play.
Wouldn't be wrong. All I heard were, former Nebraska and Oklahoma National QB champions for the past 5 yearsSo my bet is we get at least 2 of these per televised game: "Malzahn, the former Auburn head ball coach..."
The data shows Malzahn did a heck of a lot more than Strong ever did as a head coach, or as a coordinator. He's at the perfect age...I don't think he'll want to venture for another P5 job in his early 60's, especially when you can live in Central Florida!!! Also, we seemed to do OK w/O'Leary.I recall pundits saying Strong to USF was brilliant move.

Charlie Strong, a defensive coach, who had a losing record 3 straight years at the most prestigious Big 12 program vs Malzahn, an offensive coach, who has 9 straight winning seasons as a head coach in a division where you are automatically out resourced by Alabama, LSU, and TAMU. The similarities are basically a coach going from P5 to G5, but beyond that they aren’t similar.I recall pundits saying Strong to USF was brilliant move.

I thought he had a lot of George W Bush speaking mannerismsBTW...is it just me, or does he sound like a cross between Bobby Bowden & Dave Ramsey?

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... can’t get fooled againI thought he had a lot of George W Bush speaking mannerisms
We have a saying in Texas.Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... can’t get fooled again
Voice is Dave Ramsey, I'm debt free! well almost, need another 3 months to get there.I thought he had a lot of George W Bush speaking mannerisms
I believe he will be our ninth head coach.Auburn athletics community reacts to Gus Malzahn’s UCF job
From coaches to players, the Auburn community expressed their feelings about Gus Malzahn's new job as UCF's football coach.www.al.com
What’s the significance of giving them the 9 jersey?
Could be.I believe he will be our ninth head coach.
That’s why I was confused. That’s crazy if both mirror each other.Could be.
The AD got a #9 as well - is he our 9th AD too?
If you trust Wikipedia, it looks like (not counting interims), that’s actually the case! That’s why I was confused. That’s crazy if both mirror each other.
I would hope he's debt free by now, but who knows maybe he fell for the time share gimmick and that's why he's had to coach so hard, or maybe he's a legit redneck and has 14 RVs and boats to pay off. Dave Ramsey knows how to collect money just like Gus.BTW...is it just me, or does he sound like a cross between Bobby Bowden & Dave Ramsey?
