First off, I'll preface this with this fact ...
A man hitting an inanimate object is still wrong. He shouldn't initiate any time of 'aggression,' period. That was wrong, even if he didn't assault anyone, it set up a 'bad situation.'
Now, secondly, with that said ...
Women 'assault' men just as much as vice-versa, especially in the age where it's socially acceptable and even encouraged. This is one of the biggest issues even womens' shelters are trying to point out as of late, especially as many do not accept men (although this is slowly beginning to change).
The problem is that men still 'battery' women an order of magnitude more. For every 1 woman who batters a man, 20 men batter women. So that's why women who assault men are usually never charged.
The only way women stop assaulting men is to prosecute women. This includes prosecuting women who get return assaulted (and battered). Women should never be allowed to initiate violence. Women need to hold women accountable on this, and not excuse it when they get return assaulted (and often battered).
Maybe it'll start with something like #donthitfirst, getting women to understand that while they don't deserve to ever be battered, they have a social responsibility to tell all other women not to hit first and initiate an assault. Because it's been way, way too socially acceptable for way, way too long.
Especially as men are now holding men accountable for everything this decade, and that's good. We just need women to step it up with women ... because the rate of assaults by women are getting scaring, and it's still socially accepted. That's just wrong.
