Beta liberals don't want energy independence

Yep ... as always ... does not address issue, it's deflect with a popular assumption ... ladies and gentleman ... our 'leadership.' Just remember, she's still 'for sale,' and will support whatever benefits her and her fellow Elites' pocketbooks, especially Energy.

Vote 'em all out!

Seems that a reasonable strategic approach would be to establish the infrastructure (pipelines like keystone, domestic capabilities, etc) to be able to choose between sources of energy, then apply throttles as preferred.

You mean... market forces?

Unsure why he didn't say we are going to unleash domestic energy production and continue to invest in green energy.
Because he's speaking to an audience that doesn't use common sense. They believe in instantaneous pixie dust, and we can be at 90% green energy by 2030.

And here come the 'magic pixie dust' articles ...

QUOTE: _'Conservatives argue that we need to ramp up oil and gas drilling at home, build more pipelines and increase exports ... That approach takes too long, costs too much, is based on a dwindling supply — and will only exacerbate the climate emergency ... Instead, the path forward is obvious ... Making the switch to clean, renewable energy will not only cut our reliance on petro-state autocrats like Putin but achieve a host of other societal goals as well ... The choice is clear. The only way forward for a safer world is through clean renewable energy for all. We have the technology, the know-how and the money we need to make it happen.'_

The irony of 'takes too long' and 'dwindling supply' is just utter obliviousness.

By 2050, at the most aggressive of projections, we'll be at only 30%. We also have to balance out variable inputs, with more steady ... which means more hydro/wave and nuclear, not less.

We also can't be anti-hydrogen/fuel-cell either.

North America has enough shale, at 2010 levels of consumption, to last well into the 23rd century ... so if we're going to be 70% green by 2200, this BS of 'dwindling supply' will never happen.

Green Gorons say what we should do, but don't want to talk about the realities. Real Green advocates, like myself, do.

the Russian Leadership and military have no moral code ….so who knows

I dont know if it is the military as much as Putin himself. We are getting stories that some of these soldiers didnt even know they were actually bombing Ukraine, they thought it was just an exercise. People in intelligence who know a lot more than me might know the answer to this, but I wonder what the Russian reaction would be if someone just took Putin out? (if anyone willing would even be able to get access to him)

Sorry PoltiFact, but I rate this at least 'Half-True,' and on the matter of Biden administration polices causing the US to significantly increase Russian oil imports, that is 100% 'True' (just not double). I.e.,

A) It's half-true (see #2) we doubled crude oil imports, but as the article says, that's only 3%. However ...
B) What we *DID* do (see #1) is increase *OVERALL* imports from Russia by 28% the second the Biden administration started. Why?

We gutted domestic energy production, killing leases and otherwise destroys domestic logistics too ... and with OPEC refusing to increase production, we looked to OPEC+ -- the Russians -- to fill in the gap.

That is 100% the Biden administrations doing. In fact, it's losing several court cases, and not just with allegedly Conservative judges, when the administration violated its own federal law on the matter ... but that's another 'deep dive.' Now ...

All this is all still only *PARTIALLY* the problem. The lack of adequate logistics -- and I don't care if we're talking batteries/hydrogen or gasoline/disel -- is why we're railing and trucking so much.

Per volume per distance, rail is 50-times (+2,000%) more *DAMAGING* to the environment than pipelines -- as both the US and Canadian DoT reports have shown, repeatedly. Truck is even worse than rail.

We need to stop being 'Green Gorons' and have a sustainable path to get 70% green by the end of the century. What we're doing right now is just stupid and self-defeating, and *NOT* helping 'go green.'

QUOTES:
'1) The most recent data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration shows that the U.S. increased its oil imports from Russia by about 28% in the first 11 months of 2021.'
'2) The U.S. did double the amount of crude oil imported from Russia last year. But Russia accounts for only about 3% of overall U.S. crude oil imports in 2021.'

If done by a Russian ... maybe it would stop. We'd probably get a cease-fire.

If not done by a Russian, or done by a Russian with proof they were acting on behalf of foreign entities ... he'd be a martyr, and it might actually get worse.

That would be the fear. I certainly think it would have to be done by someone close to him, but a risk either way.

Funny enough, Lindsey Graham just tweeted (and I think deleted) basically the same thing. And while I am with you in spirit Lindsey, me saying it on message board that like 20 people post in, isnt the quite the same thing as a US senator tweeting it, maybe use a little precaution bro.

It's unreal that we have a sitting US Senator publicly calling for the assassination of the leader of a nuclear power. People have completely lost their minds over this whole thing.

That was pretty dumb of him.

How about a little reality check.

In 2021, the US imported an average of 209,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil and 500,000 bpd of other petroleum products from Russia, according to the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) trade association.

This represented three percent of US crude oil imports and one percent of the total crude oil processed by US refineries. By contrast, the US imported 61 percent of its crude oil from Canada, 10 percent from Mexico, and six percent from Saudi Arabia in the same year.

This new 'screw higher prices, put a ban on Russian oil' line is from the same posters who have been whining about "Joe Biden's price increases" for gas.

I am willing to take a short term hit on prices to starve Russia of $ for its invasion of Ukraine. I am not for a long term hit on prices to starve American citizens of the living they were building a pipeline to ship oil cheaper and safer than on trucks and trains or cutting out American jobs drilling and fracking for oil, and natural gas. I am not against green energy, but it is not the answer for the next 50 years. Can we get there? Maybe. But don't cut your nose off to save your face.

All Putin really wants is for Ukrainians to wear masks and get vaccinated. Is that too big of a request?

I think it’d be more palatable across all of America if it wasn’t coming on the heels of the USG-led curbing of the economy and subsequent policies that are driving inflation to who knows where.

Now think about what would happen in the US if VISA and Mastercard were compelled to stop processing transactions.

Who really has the power?

Details are a bit fuzzy, but it sounds like this or something similar did happen.
