it has significantly gone up and we need to do something about it.

1) no it hasn't

2) why?

I STILL have not heard a reason why you all suddenly became obsessed with this issue.

Only reason is because trump decided to start talking about it, and you mindless fuking morons are utterly incapable of thinking for yourself so you decided it was important too.

Just like the kneeling fiasco all over again, you snowflakes live for manufactured emergencies to freak out over.

These people aren’t listening to CBP or the professionals actually down at the border. Just look at how the resident idiot refuses to read my posts with direct stats and commentary from CBP professionals.

We are dealing with partisan zealots dealing in willful ignorance

Holy shit this board is amazing

You are the biggest goddamn hypocrite on this board. Every other post of yours is a personal attack, and yet you whine about people attacking you.

I seriously can not comprehend the level of hypocrisy you display on a daily basis

I posted CBP stats and you ignored them.

Only a true dipshit uses backwards facing data to contradict real-time evidence and conditions on the ground.

Liberals like Shook Chicken have spent so much time yelling about walls not working and pushing for open borders that they're now incapable of admitting when a real crisis exists on our border. And they're even willing to shit on what our CBP professionals are telling us, daily, in order to self perpetuate their idea that there is no crisis and meanie Trump is inventing all of this.
That's the way I'm looking at it. The entire purpose of these caravans was to overwhelm the system and it's obviously working.

...almost like an invasion :)

I don't understand the lefts approach to this. If they were to make the case for increasing legal immigration they would get a lot more support from centrists and they would still have the opportunity to expand their voter base in the future.

Funny, I don't understand the rights's approach. And given how many times I've asked you how a massive border wall will directly benefit you, neither do you.

Because open borders is a much quicker solution.

Unless you simply want to get rid of the citizenship concept, which many do, then modifying the legal immigration rules involves a discussion about the needs of the country for a larger citizenry. People will make points that we should be prioritizing skilled immigrants over unskilled. Those skilled immigrants are not likely to be dependent upon the government (which should be the first criteria) and thus are less likely to vote Democrat.

No, it's much better for them to keep saying that the immigration system is broken, that it should be easy and quick for people to become citizens of the USA, and make this a moral argument rather than a rational argument. Once they have you defending a moral ground, they've won. They'll just keep moving the goalposts to keep the moral high ground and eventually the low information voters will side with them against the evil opponents. It's even better when they do this and then accuse others of manufacturing a crisis.

Why should we prioritize skilled labor over unskilled?

Yet another sign the apocalypse is approaching.

Border apprehensions hit 12-year high in March as Trump vows 'tougher direction'

U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended 92,000 immigrants trying to cross the border illegally in March, a 12-year high announced Tuesday as President Donald Trump moved to replace top leadership at the Department of Homeland Security and has vowed tougher immigration policies.

This would be the Apocalypse that AOC promised and liberals ate up. We're all dead in 12 years unless we stop taking planes and stuff.

sw-border-apprehensions-by-fiscal-year.jpg

Would you look at that. Apprehensions are down every year since the 1990s.
Uh huh.

More than 100,000 migrants apprehended or turned away at border in March, CBP reveals

More than 103,000 migrants were turned away from or apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico borderlast month, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced Tuesday, an increase of nearly 106 percent over the same period last year.

In all, CBP said it apprehended 92,607 people, including 53,077 family units (a 45.3 percent increase over February) and 8,975 unaccompanied minors (a 31 percent increase over February). Another 10,885 migrants were deemed "inadmissible" by immigration authorities.

The total number of 103,492 apprehensions or rejections is the highest of any month over at least the past six years, topping February's mark of 76,535 apprehensions or rejections. The 92,607 apprehensions was the highest total since 91,566 migrants were apprehended in April 2008.

The numbers were made public hours after a top Border Patrol official told lawmakers that authorities has apprehended more families illegally crossing the border between October 2018 and February of this year than during all of the 2018 fiscal year (Oct. 1, 2017-Sept. 30, 2018).

That it's not a crisis because border crossings are at a 40 year low.

Then you said well it's not a crisis because of all the apprehensions that are happening.

Then I showed you a graph that said apprehensions are at a 40 year low.

Then you said that graph is garbage let's listen to the CBP

Then I said the data is from the CBP.

You're thoroughly owned on this topic and so I shall leave this thread knowing that even when hard data is put in front of your ugly dumb face you still choose ignorance over logic.
Who’s ignorant and thoroughly owned now??

How can we solve this problem when liberals and Democrats refuse to even admit there’s an issue?

They are complicit in this utter disaster at our border

That’s just such ass backwards logic.

No.., by showing that apprehensions are up and we have a crisis/emergency. Emergency funds are in order.

It’s a no-brainer.

Duh!!!! [laughing]

The only reason illegal immigration slowed during Obama's tenure was because the labor market was crap. Now its on the uptick and we are returning to being an attractive place for workers. Not all of it was Obama's fault just like trump doesn't deserve all of the credit

I personally think that it’s because of all the poor leadership and political unrest in these countries has come to a climax just recently

Additionally, without the facts, I would suspect the employment situation in those countries is at an all-time low.

These people are systematically using our archaic Asylum laws to game the system and gain illegal entry into the US. NPR just yesterday ran a story from Guatemala where they interviewed smugglers and people wanting to take the journey, admitting that they've realized that if they come in groups large enough to overwhelm CBP and claim "asylum", then they'll be let go into the interior and can illegally go live and work where they want.

Most of these people aren't actual asylum seekers but they know how outdated our laws are and know how to use them to their benefit.

Then the solution lies with our archaic asylum laws -- you know stuff that our Congress deals with -- not with the number of walls between the US and Mexico.

Actually no. Again, you people don't listen to what CBP professionals actually say, because if you did, you'd realize that they have said repeatedly that they absolutely need 200 miles of additional wall/fencing/barrier/whatever to deal with blocking or deterring illegal entry in those areas of isolated terrain.

This might blow your simple mind but it's possible to reform our shitty, outdated asylum law AND build the wall/fence/whatever that CBP continually says they need.

That might make sense IF this was still about lone males crossing the border illegally in order to find a job for their families. That used to be the case in the past but that's not the case now.

Today, the issue is immigrant FAMILIES coming to the border seeking asylum. Instead of attempting to circumvent our current asylum laws by separating children from the parents as a deterrent, wouldn't the prudent thing be to revise the damn asylum laws for crying out loud???!?

No. Then we may as well not have citizenship because all person would have to do is say 'I'm poor and my country sucks' and they would get in. Asylum is exactly what it should be

i think it would be awesome if trump wrote an executive order to grant asylum to as many venezuelans as possible. no cap what so ever. then he could send military planes down there and bring them here. drop them off in blue states. then make it so they were immediately eligible to vote for the 2020 election.

NEW YORK AND OTHER SANCTUARY CITIES ARE SUDDENLY FIGHTING TO KEEP ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS OUT OF THEIR CITY
by Kevin Ryan

When Donald Trump was elected president in 2016, New York City Council members authored an op-ed pledging that New York would remain a city where illegal immigrants could find sanctuary from Federal authorities seeking to deport them.

“We are prepared for a Trump era during which immigrant communities will likely be under attack. New York City will stand as a beacon of welcome, hope, and protection for immigrants,” they wrote.

Two years later, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) is pledging to go to court to stop the federal government from sending illegal immigrants to his city.

“It’s illegal. It is just plain illegal. We will meet him in court. We will beat him in court,” de Blasio said.

Trump tweeted that “Illegal Immigrants who can no longer be legally held will be, subject to Homeland Security, given to Sanctuary Cities and States!”

Sanctuary cities are areas where the local government claims to welcome undocumented people, protect them from deportation, and in some cases offer expensive services such as free access to lawyers.

Yet many of those same cities, including New York, are now saying they will do everything in their power to stop illegals from coming to their city.

This move is even better than midwestern states buying one-way bus tickets for homeless and sending them to California.

You know the democratic strategists have to be pissed over this move. By moving them to already blue areas, Trump is concentrating these new democrat voters in places where their added vote won't matter. So, as long as we keep the electoral college, this shouldn't sway the political makeup of the country.

but shouldnt these sanctuary cities be opening their arms wide for these poor migrants?

Funny how that works huh? These people grand stand and instruct their local authorities not to assist ICE in carrying out Federal Law and protecting people here illegally, yet when presented with the opportunity to get more of these people that they supposedly care so deeply about, the sue the government to stop them from coming.
