That's just coach speak for "we lost." Nothing said in those post-game conferences means anything or is an admission of anything. Even if it were.... "it's on me," ok then, so what? It's not like they get fined for losing or are "held accountable" in any other way. It's sports. One team is going to lose.
It's the same reason nobody asks hard questions, because the answers don't matter and are the same whether the hard question is asked or not.
You're right about the championship game. We were not in that game, and that was Gus's negligence. Somehow we burned a redshirt on TC and yet he still had no in-game experience because all he got was a few minutes of mop-up time across the 4 games, and they didn't let him throw the ball in the CCG.
