** The WC's Official Presidential Debate Thread **

Trump definitely stepped on his own dick there, but Wallace should have continued on with the topic instead of moving to the next one.

Wallace had an impossible job. Trump clearly wasnt going to let it be a normal type of debate. Trump is who let Biden off the hook, not Wallace. IF Wallace had kepting pushing that question, Trump would have just kept interupting.

what an incredibly terrible debate. the debates are only going to get worse.

The next one is going to be interesting just to see if Trump tones it down at all. If the next one is like last night, then I dont think anyone is really even going to care about the last one.

He hurt Biden several times, so I'd say that helps him.

There was one glaring Biden portion. It was the packing the Court question that Biden refused to answer. But due to Trump's embarrassing performance last night, no one is talking about it. He never hurt Biden.

I would guess that part of Trumps strategy was to wear Biden out, which he did. His biggest mistake was to not back off as soon as he got there. Somehow I doubt Trump will learn from that mistake so the next debate will be the same.

I dont think he wore Biden out at all. I think Biden actually came across better the longer it went on. But again, some of that is probably due to Trump's strategy. He didnt really allow Biden to make mistakes.

This was a loss on both sides. Trump did have a solid "gotcha" on why did obama leave 120 lower court seats open. But bragging about filling 3 supreme court seats...congrats on Justices dying I guess.

I thought that was a HUGE missed opportunity for Biden.

He was given the perfect opening for a discussion of how Republicans in the Senate has been manipulating the process for putting judges on the federal court for years.

About 40 minutes in, Biden started slowing down. When he was trying to cite statistics, you could tell he was wearing down. He did very well in the first half hour, but after that he really fell off and trying to go back to the Covid well didn't seem like strategy, it seemed like it was the only topic he had at the forefront of his mind.

Biden's problem was that he was listing things then getting interrupted by Trump and forgetting where he was on the list. Next debate, just stick to generalities and keep the answers under a minute.

That was part of it, but even moreso it was responses like "my answer will become an issue". You can get away with changing the subject, but refusing to answer a question when the narrative is already that you aren't thinking clearly, it reinforces that narrative.

He definitely needs to clean that up this week. Pence will go back to it next week. However, I don't know if a politician should speculate about responses to things that haven't occurred.

I'm voting in 6 days. I don't need debates 2 and 3. There is no doubt in my mind that someone needs to get this country back to normal and Trump is incapable.

It’s already basically back to normal. My funds are up, I’m busier than ever, and I’m attending my second football game. Which country do you live in?

Both of these guy are imbeciles honestly. Can’t believe they are our best 2 candidates. I would destroy either of them in a debate. It doesn’t look like they even prepare properly. They are too damn old.

Its definitely a fine line to walk. Biden has thrived in the polls being the "generic Democrat candidate", but we all knew that was going to come to an end. Well, other than Biden apparently. We are now to the point where people are asking themselves "what am I voting for?"

Unlike most presidential candidates, Biden has a governmental brand. Generic 80's & 90's Democrat. People know who he is and isn't. I think his campaign is doing a fantastic job. It's not flashy, it's just consistent and effective.

Apparently you haven't been paying attention. They are saying, and will continue to say in greater numbers, "I'm voting to get that batshit crazy blowhard Trump out of the White House!!!"

Thoughts on Trump taking on Fauci and Birx? To me, that was an awkward moment for him last night. It probably sold with the far right base but when he tried to couch that with saying Fauci praised his response it seemed weird.

I thought that was an opening for Biden to question Trump's opinion on Fauci and Birx or hit him back.

Trumps normal strategy in debates is to interrupt and stall to prevent his opponent from answering questions in the allotted time. It really backfired here against an elderly opponent who didn’t have the answers to the questions and couldn’t articulate them well if even if he did. Trump could have just sit back and laughed but instead gave Biden some outs where he didn’t have to address the questions that were posed.

Trump stalls because he doesn't know the answers himself.

There’s no way that Biden could be wired. It was too much of a fast paced clusterfukc of questions, answers and Trump interruptions for Biden to process any wire information and use it in a positive way. He would have screwed up

Additionally, he’s a presidential candidate. Who else is going to be answering these questions for him so quickly through a wire??

Eddie Murphy? Obama?Hillary?

As independent Biden won. Trump seemed too pushy like Bully. Both candidates need to address more their Platform. Also, Trump needs to address the white supremacist question. He has answered it before. Not answering it hurts him on TV.
