Venezuela Crisis

i bet those citizens being run over by armored vehicles wished they had guns to fight back. but dont worry guys, those arent democratic socialist armored cars. they are evil capitalist armored cars. lololololoololol

Again, I am not defending anyone. I am questioning our motives and I am questioning the propaganda behind it.
That's utter, anti-Trump US media BS. On this front, it's not about the US or Trump.

The entire Organization of American States (OAS) has literally said such, sans any Russian satellite. Wake up!
And again, we have a history of putting people we want in power.
In the Americas ... absolutely! No argument.

But when the OAS literally, as a whole, agrees ... I'm sorry, that's just wrong. Don't be oblivious to this reality.

The OAS, especially not since the end of the Cold War -- let alone even at times during the Cold War -- does not agree with the US and tells the US it's over-stepped. Just stop, full stop.

For the 10th time, you really don't seem to understand what Maudro and the Socialists have done in VZ. You keep talking about an "election" as if a real election took place. It didn't. Even suggesting that the 2018 election was remotely legit is insane. There is only ONE body of government in VZ that has an actual REAL vote of the people behind it, and it is the Legislature that Gaudio is head of which makes him the ONLY truly elected leader of VZ. Period.

When Maduro's party lost this Legislature, he literally stripped it of all of its' Constitutional powers and created a new Assembly that he stacked with unelected cronies from his own party. Do you not see the issue here?????

From NPR:

The last free elections in Venezuela were held in December 2015. Opposition parties won the Venezuelan legislature in a landslide, securing a super-majority that gave them unprecedented strength to check Maduro.

His ruling United Socialist Party responded by progressively stripping the legislature of its powers and ensuring the Socialists would not lose another election.

First, the government-run national electoral agency canceled a
proposed presidential recall vote in 2016. Then, in July 2017, the Socialist Party called an unconstitutional vote to elect an alternative legislature. Later that year, party officials openly committed fraud in regional elections.

When Maduro stood for re-election in 2018, Socialist Party officials
disqualified leading opposition politicians and parties from running and forced the vote seven months early to prevent them from reorganizing.

Many Venezuelans fought for their democracy.
cubs wont read any of that. he believes that russia had a major influence in our election but stayed completely out of venezuela's election in 2018. oh and did he tell you its our fault not socialisms fault they are eating pets and zoo animals? talk about johny come lately.

and its not like this new guy gaudio is really that much better than maduro. hes still a socialist to, maybe he wants to reform some things but its not like he will change a whole lot.

Gaudio is a socialist and probably believes a lot of the dumb crap that Maduro used to parade as good economic policy, but the immediate focus is simply throwing out the unelected dictator and restoring democracy. Holding fair and open votes.

That way, a free market politician can freely make the case the socialists ran the place into the shitter and advocate to be elected based upon reforming VZ to look more like every other country in S America that embraced capitalism and free markets.

It is hard to ever come back once you go socialist. You're used to being a child depending on the nice government to take care of you. They just need more private assets to steal.

Oh wait... nothing left to steal.

Pretty much this. I still remember when Venezuala decided that they didn't like Cargill having a presence in their country so they just canceled all contracts the company had and took their capital. That company was helping feed the Venezuelan people, and now the gov't expects people to eat feral cats.

actually the maduro gov wanted them to eat rabbits.

The US is responsible for a lot. But WTF?! Seriously, this is the 'new Democratic party.' And people thought Obama was bad? Nope, not even close. Obama wasn't wrong sometimes in the US taking the blame, not right all the time, but not wrong either.

Here’s our anti-Semite from MN now going all in on defending socialist thug dictators and blaming the US

We've made our share of mistakes, for sure. That being said, this deal is 100% on the shoulders of the Venezuelan government.

A Venezuelan ministry last week announced Resolution No. 9855, which calls for the establishment of a “transitory labor regime” in order to relaunch the agricultural and food sector. The decree says that the government must do what is “necessary to achieve strategic levels of self-sufficiency,” and states that workers can be forcefully moved from their jobs to work in farm fields or elsewhere in the agricultural sector for periods of 60 days.

guys, venezuela isnt real socialism...

DEVELOPING STORY - U.S. AND VENEZUELA HOLDING TALKS THAT COULD LEAD TO THE END OF THE SOCIALIST GOVERNMENT: WALL STREET JOURNAL

by Kevin Ryan

Powerful lieutenants of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro have been in talks with the U.S., discussing the possibility of allowing new elections in return for safety guarantees if the socialist government loses.

The talks have involved chief Maduro ally Diosdado Cabello, who heads the country’s National Constituent Assembly, and other important backers of the president, many of whom have been put under sanctions by Washington.

More than four million people have fled the country since 2015, hunger is growing, the economy is disintegrating and companies are closing.

The Trump administration is pushing for democratic elections that would give opposition politicians a chance to take power.

Regime figures want to avoid “retaliation, persecution, and violence,” if they are removed from power.

President Trump confirmed U.S. officials are “talking to the representatives at different levels of Venezuela.” He wouldn’t identify them but said “we are talking at a very high level.”

President Maduro, in a televised speech last night, also announced that discussions had, indeed, been taking place. “We’ve had secret meetings in secret places with secret people that nobody knows,” he said, adding that Venezuela would “continue having contact” with the U.S.

Other representatives of President Maduro have offered opposition negotiators the possibility of a presidential election in the coming months, an important breakthrough since Venezuelan government officials have publicly said they wouldn’t be pressured into holding a new vote. The opposition has demanded elections because Mr. Maduro was re-elected in 2018 in a vote widely seen as fraudulent, prompting the U.S. and more than 50 other governments to declare his presidency as illegitimate.

Maduro has even told leaders of his ruling Socialist Party to discuss restoring power to the opposition-controlled congress, which now isn’t permitted to pass laws, as well as discussion with the opposition to name new representatives to the supreme court.
