As some have said, KJ didn’t look fired up; seemed to go through the motions. If true, and he just cashed in…then more tweaks to NIL deals need to be implemented.

It would be interesting if there were separate NIL funds that were performance based. I have never contributed to NIL funding and the KJ performance solidified it for me. I simply hate the idea of throwing unearned money at 18 year old kids that haven’t done anything to deserve it.

However, performance based contributions would be interesting.

The UCF Knights are preparing to take on Sam Houston State this weekend, and for head coach Gus Malzahn, the focus is on making sure his team is prepared. Defensive Tackle Ricky Barber knows the Knights will have their hands full with the Bearkats, but they are looking forward to building on week one victory.

Watching the awful performance by the FSU QB last night and of course our own lacking QB performance in week 1, a couple thoughts came into my mind.

For NIL and transfers, if someone was a productive starter at a good program and just wants to do that at what they perceive is an even better program, there is a pretty good chance they will be solid (Cam Ward, Dillon, and many others).
If someone couldn't get a starting job or had ok numbers on a middling team, and then they transfer, you find out pretty quickly why they probably didn't deserve any more.

Second, with these kids now getting paid to play, all of the shackles are now off for fans. If you want to insult and berate these, let's face it, "pros", you have every right to do so. Gone are the days where you could protect them saying "they are just kids". No, some of these kids are making more money than the fans cheering for them.

Third, because collectives and schools are now paying players, they are even more trapped sticking to a bad player to keep the monies coming in. No donor wants to see their money sitting on the bench. Coaches like Norvell are essentially stuck torpedoing their team because of this new system. The law of unintended consequences.

One last unrelated thought. Stats that are accumulated against prevent defenses need to be put into a separate category. You know that coaches love to point to stats to say someone didn't do badly when most of those stats came when the other team was no longer trying. See "Bortles, Blake" for the Jags.

More ratings will come, especially for cable games as they are delayed due to the Holiday Weekend. (All should be released by Wed).

Scott Frost has been mentioned for a job.

Jedd Fisch is leaving Arizona for Washington. And it’s possible a lot of the Wildcats who helped him go 10-3 in 2023 are heading for the transfer portal. So what does Arizona do now? Here’s a list of coaches who could restock the roster and get the Wildcats ready to make their Big 12 debut.

Scott Frost, former Nebraska and UCF coach​

Frost failed at Nebraska, but he also went undefeated at UCF. After a year away to examine what went wrong in Lincoln, Frost is ready to return to the field. His offense could be very successful in the Big 12. And he’ll recognize quite a few of the teams that he was beating up on in the American Athletic Conference as UCF’s coach. If Frost can diagnose the issues that affected him at Nebraska while also doubling down on what made him successful at UCF, Arizona could be getting a bargain.

Let’s start by establishing the obvious point: Twitter is not real life and probably shouldn’t be relied on as such. However, it can provide some directional perspective on the pulse of an audience following a situation or event. As it turns out, the reaction of Knight Nation before, during, and after a football game proves to be a perfect example of the directional theory.
