Newton spent the previous 14 years at Samford as the defensive line and linebackers coach. During his time at Samford, Newton was also the Director of Recruiting, Camp Coordinator and Pro Liaison. At Auburn, he was in charge of building relationships with high school coaches through clinics, visits and other forms of communication. He is also the contact for all professional teams in 2020.
