Script-watch day 3980328: Maximalist Merch Monday

New Shirt Alert

i just spent a week in chicago. My favorite buildings in the city are 860 - 880 lake shore - beautiful, understated, minimal. They are eye catching now, even after minimalism has 'caught up' - imagine how much they would have stood out in 1950 when first constructed in contrast to other buildings of the era.

The architect, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe famously based his work on a design philosophy of "less is more".

Fast forward to 2022. UCF has a new script logo, simple and elegant. We're joining the big 12, a powerful statement in itself.

How do the reigning state champions celebrate a series of major, program-defining success? Barf it ALL up on a single cheap champion tee. All or nothing baby

(thanks for coming to my lecture i obviously bought a shirt immediately, hell yeah this shirt rocks even if ill sweat through it 5 minutes in to a tailgate)

We host a school’s out party every year at our house. Last year we had 100 people. We have a great set up for it with a huge yard on a creek and no neighbors close.

Tonight it rained though and we moved the party inside, expecting quite a dip in attendance. We still had around 80 show up.

As we were drinking and conversing the question was posed, how many people have an indoor party with more than 50 people at their house?

So I come to you, cross section of America, and ask: what’s the largest party you’ve thrown inside your house? We are talking about adult parties and not college.

OT: Coal miner’s daughter named UCF provost — first woman, African American in that role

A coal miner's daughter who started her career as a public school teacher, Elizabeth Dooley has been tapped as provost at the University of Central Florida — the first African American and first woman in the school’s 50-year history.

Dooley, 61, has served as the interim provost since April, shortly after trustees selected her predecessor, Dale Whittaker, to succeed John Hitt as the university’s president.

UCF Softball's journey continues! The Knights won their first-ever NCAA Regional with a 9-4 victory against Michigan, clinching a spot in next week's Super Regional against No. 1 Oklahoma. Afterward, head coach Cindy Ball-Malone, catcher Ashleigh Griffin and pitchers Kama Woodall and Gianna Mancha talked about the big accomplishment.

Our foods better!

While at the softball game today I was talking to a certain football player that transferred from the school in Gainesville. First of all he is a big guy. I asked him how he liked it here and he said it was much better than Gainesville. I made a comment that they probably have some better facilities since they have more money. He said our facilities are very good and then he said the food at UCF is much better. He said that we have a separate dining facility for the athletes which made it sound like they don’t at UF, which really surprised me. But I will take any recruiting advantage we can get. So when we get into recruiting battles with UF Gus should let his tight end tell them about the food 😂.
We also reminisced a little about growing up in South Miami. Which was cool as well. He seems to be a really nice guy and definitely looks the part! He is no little kid!

Class of 2022 wide receiver Alex Perry of Port Charlotte (Fla.) was among UCF's visitors this past weekend for the home game against ECU.

"I liked my visit a lot," Perry said. "I had a lot of fun. What really stood out was how passionate the students and fans were about their team."

This was Perry's third overall visit to UCF as he stopped by a couple times during the summer. The big 6-foot-6 target doesn't have an offer yet, but UCF is highly interested.

"I talked to my recruiter and the offensive coordinator," Perry said. "They're basically saying to keep working and staying sharp on my game. I definitely think they're close to offering."

Perry said he likes UCF's "family atmosphere" most of all.

He took an official visit to Purdue during the summer and plans to visit a South Florida game soon.

Class of 2023 offensive tackle Johnathan Cline received his first offer from UCF a couple weeks into his junior season.

Now the Cartersville (Ga.) product got to attend his first game as he was in the Bounce House last Saturday to see the Knights take down ECU.

"The thing that stood out the most was the hospitality of the coaches," Cline said. "I got there about an hour early and got to meet Coach (William) Lee, Coach (Cole) Heard, and an assistant. After the game I got to go into the locker room and I got to shake hands with Coach (Herb) Hand and talk with him. He's a great guy. I'd love to play for him if I end up committing and going there. Another thing thing that I really loved is the fans, and the way the rest of the guys got into the game, I’ve never seen a group of recruits so into game, I loved it."

"The visit was amazing. It was every kid's dream visit. I will definitely becoming back."

Charlotte and Memphis have since offered with heavy interest coming in from Kansas State and Coastal Carolina.
