Kiffin: Wake Forest violated 'unwritten rule' in buying out game

This past weekend, Ole Miss destroyed Wake Forest 40-6. WF informed Ole Miss the same day that they were not going to do the second part of a home and home series in Oxford next year.

A person with knowledge of the decision confirmed that Wake Forest had canceled next year's trip to Ole Miss and said the school is closing in on alternative scheduling options. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Monday because the school isn't commenting publicly on details.

Kiffin broke the news about that decision in his postgame news conference and was still unhappy about the timing two days later.

"That's rarely ever done," Kiffin said Monday. "I've never really heard of doing it, and it really puts us at a big disadvantage. It is what it is. It obviously wasn't appreciated very much, them putting us in that situation.

"Now we've got to go find somebody and most people are all scheduled up. And even when you find somebody, you've got to go pay them. It's kind of an unwritten rule not to do that, actually."

The decision leaves Ole Miss having to try to find another Power 4 conference -- or major independent -- opponent for next season or seeking a waiver from the Southeastern Conference on that requirement. Getting a waiver would mean facing four nonconference teams, without having an opponent from one of the four most prominent leagues.

"That's not what we want to do, but they may have put us in an unavoidable situation not to," Kiffin said.

He took issue with the timing of the decision.

"I really find it amazing that you wait until the week of the game to tell the team," Kiffin said.

The game was scheduled for Sept. 13, 2025.

TCU = Classy Fans

What a GAME and what a WIN! TCU has a beautiful campus, a hell of a nice and loud/energetic stadium, and probably the classiest opposing fans I’ve ever been around (and I’ve been to countless away UCF games over the last 28 years). So many TCU fans came up to my dad and I as we exited the stadium and shook our hands and congratulated us on a great game. And so many welcomed us when walked the campus beforehand as well. On a side note, we took an AWESOME JFK Assassination Tour on Friday and ate the BEST BBQ on the planet @ Terry Black’s! Dallas/Ft. Worth are GREAT cities. I hope all my fellow Knights who went to the game enjoyed Dallas/Ft. Worth and TCU as much as we did. Now, on to the Buffs. GO KNIGHTS!

TCU Fans: Better late than never?

My tailgating and game day experiences are vast and deep. I have been to UCF games home and away since the late 1980s. Based on the experiences that I have had the Citrus Bowl, the Bounce House and stadiums in far flung locations like Tempe and Boise, what I discovered in Ft. Worth was unexpected. What I found was an affable group of people who will show up, but not ahead of time.

Has anyone seen black jerseys for sale?

I have a work networking thing in a few weeks and we’re doing a Monday night football tailgate theme

I have all the space jerseys but don’t have any normie UCF football jerseys

This thing is sold out everywhere in most sizes. Has anyone seen them on sale locally? Or a ‘normal’ black uni?

Or does anyone happen to be planning on a run to alumni hall or the campus bookstore anytime soon? I’d gladly PayPal you $$$$ to cover it and shipping

SicEm365, affiliated with the 365Sports Youtube Show, is far and away the most dominant Baylor message board out there.

BYU is an interesting case. Their dominant message board is Cougar Board, straight out of the 1990s with a thread-view format. Other sites get little traffic. Coverage wise, they get excellent coverage from BYU TV, podcasts and Utah newspapers.

Coogfans (independent) might be the most popular, though it has a strange format. I'm amused that they appear to be sponsored by a Houston strip club. 247 has similar traffic. Beat writer Joseph Duarte (Houston Chronicle) seems to always have the UH scoops.

Cyclone Fanatic (independent) seems like the most active, though Rivals and 247 still receive moderate traffic.

K-State has several sites with traffic. They are the only new Big 12 school to have an On3 site, and that one appears quite active. The 247 site is also active (both On3/247 site were on Rivals at one point).

Oklahoma

A few options here, network and independent. All get traffic. The On3 site came from Rivals, and the current Rivals site just came over from 247.

Just a cursory glance, but I'm not sure if one stands out as dominant. Rivals site has been for a long time, I know.

Killer Frogs (independent) has been the main TCU board for decades. 247 also gets traffic.

Orangebloods (Rivals) is the market leader, though 247 and On3 get plenty of activity too.

If you've been on the fence about it......... Yes traveling to an away game is worth it!

Consider this a recruting thread.
Away game fan recruiting.

Yes life is busy and traveling can be hard. Heck just getting time off for some of us is hard. I get it being in the hospitality industy.
That said, traveling to an away game is worth the trip and can be fun for all involved especially if it's a game where the alumni association are putting on events.

The happy hour in Ft. Worth was awesome. They had a private band playing for us the whole event.
President of the University and the AD were in attendance hanging out with fans and mixing it up.
Networking with Knights from different parts of they country is fun as well.
Before you know it the happy hour event is over and you're in restaurants or bar hopping with Knight fans you've never met before and having a great time.

The tailgate the day of the game was great as well save for the swealtering weather.
Unlimited food and drink and again you're at tables just meeting new Knight family from all over the country.
There were single people, couples and whole families at this event. Once again President of the University and Terry were in attendance engaging with all of us.
Came away withe new friends and a great time.

People were coming up to us on the street talking about how many Knight fans they were seeing and wanted to know about what was going on.
Great look for our fan base.

Being in an opposing teams stadium all grouped up together is a great experience as well. We didn't get to enjoy much of that the first 3 quarters.
Once that comeback started however the UCF section was rocking and rest assured we were heard loud and clear by what TCU fans remained.
The TCU fans were all very nice but I can tell you this they don't know now how to get rowdy in that stadium. Night games at the Bounce House againsta Conference opponent is rocking. These folks were sleepwalking through the game even when they were dominating it.

Bottom line traveling to a game is a great time. It can be great if you're solo with friends, your significant other or even the full family.
Get out and go to one of our away games. No better way to represent our University then traveling, being seen and heard in all these other Big 12 cities
and stadiums!

Thanks to any UCF alumni or athletics staff in here for a great job on all the events in Ft. Worth!

My vote for this week's game ball goes to...

My buddy KJ.

No, not that KJ.

KJ was sitting with me at the game and helped the Knights overcome a 21 point deficit.

How you ask?

By eating hot dogs!

KJ got hungry so he grabbed a hot dog. As he finished it UCF scored a Touchdown.

Still hungry, he got another hot dog. As he finished this one, UCF scored another touchdown!

He then relates this pattern to us and asks if he should get another hot dog when we get the ball again, we all said Yes! So off he went to get a third hotdog.......and UCF scores a third touchdown!

As we get the ball back, we send him off for a fourth hot dog. He comes back empty handed and states, "They are on to us. They closed the concession stands." The Knights' drive stalls.

Our defense holds TCU and gets us the ball back.

We tell KJ to eat a "ghost" hot dog. The Knights go on to score the go ahead Touchdown!

KJ has been instructed to fast before every UCF game the rest of this season and to eat a hot dog every time UCF has the ball.

Undefeated here we come!

***UCF PFF Offense Player Grades - 35-34 win at TCU 🏈

Rivals has continued its partnership with Pro Football Focus (PFF) which grants me access to their comprehensive analytics and statistical tools.

After each game, two separate analysts grade every player on each play of the game and the two totals are averaged out. Obviously no subjective ranking system is perfect, but I am finding that my real world impressions of a player in a certain game usually reflects the PFF grade.

PFF Grading Scale

90 and above - Elite
80 to 89 - Great
70 to 79 - Good
60 to 69 - Average to Above Average
50 - 59 - Below Average
49 and below - Poor

Team Offensive Grade (by game)

New Hampshire - 68.4
Sam Houston - 88.3
TCU - 78.8

This was UCF's best offensive grade in a Big 12 game. Previous high grades were 2023 Houston (75.4) and Oklahoma State (75.1).

Overall Offensive Player Grades (Snaps Played)

WR Kobe Hudson (66) - 89.1
QB KJ Jefferson (79) - 83.5
