Another Big Transfer: MEN'S HOOPS ADDS TRANSFER DALLAN 'DEEBO' COLEMAN

"Coleman is a rising senior who comes to Orlando after three seasons with Georgia Tech. The guard shot 40.3% from the field and 34.0% from beyond the three-point arc while averaging 5.9 points per contest. The year prior saw Coleman knock down 9.5 points per game in 33 games played, starting in 31."

"Prior to college, Coleman played at West Nassau High in Callahan, Florida. He was named Mr. Basketball as well as the Florida Class 4A Player of the Year in his senior season. He was born and raised in Memphis, Tenn but moved to Jacksonville, Florida where his father, Ran, became the head coach of West Nassau."

Very excited about this upcoming season.

OT: 80 years since D Day

Tomorrow is officially 80 years since allied forces launched the greatest invasion in modern history and liberated Europe. Figured this is worth its own thread.

I remain in awe of what a bunch of 16-22 year olds were able to do in the face of death and annihilation.

***Four-star DT Jarquez Carter feels close bond with UCF's Kenny Martin***

llunencc1cpssaiqewzi

UCF saw the potential early in Jarquez Carter.

The Newberry (Fla.) defensive tackle was offered by Knights defensive tackles coach Kenny Martin shortly after his sophomore season when he was still 15 years old. Today, Carter is a Rivals.com four-star prospect with a national list of offers.

A frequent visitor to UCF over the past year, Carter recently returned for a spring practice.

"It was great being able to spend time with Coach Martin," Carter said. "He's a great coach and one of the best d-line coaches in the country. I was in all their defensive meetings, sitting in there and listening how he coaches. And then being able to watch him coach practice, it felt different this time because I'm close to making my decision.

"I also talked to Coach (Gus) Malzahn which was great. He was basically asking me if UCF is still in it and they definitely are. He was just checking in with me, asking about my family."

Kenny Martin was the first college coach to take a serious interest in him.

"The biggest thing is he's a man of his word," Carter said. "He's going to develop you. Before he started coaching John Walker, he said he's going to be a Freshman All-American and he proved that. He doesn't have the top recruits like Florida, Florida State and Miami, yet their defensive line produces more tackles and sacks than all the other schools in Florida. He's a great coach."

Martin sees a similar trajectory for Carter.

"He's always telling me that I'm his top guy," Carter said. "If we put the work in, I can be one of the best players in the country. He was the first coach to really start recruiting me, the first one to see the skills that I had. Everything he's told me has come true. I trust him. He's always keeping it 100 with me, even teaching me some things so I can improve my game."

In addition to UCF, Carter has made recent visits to Florida, Florida State, Miami, Penn State and Tennessee. Upcoming unofficial visits are scheduled to Colorado, Ohio State, USC and probably Alabama.

On the official visit front, Carter expects to visit UCF, Penn State, Miami and possibly USC this summer. His UCF OV is already booked for the weekend of June 14.

Carter plans to trim his list soon, probably down to a top eight.

"I'm trying to see my top schools right now so I can get a good feeling," he said. "It's really good to see practices so I can see how the coaches operate. It's going to really help in my decision."

OT: The new Mexican Political Thread

I have no desire to jump into the cesspool that is the political thread. So I just thought I would post a new thread about the New Mexican President.

The New Mexican President is 61 years old.
The New Mexican president has a PhD in Engineering.
The New Mexican President won a Nobel Prize.
As a side note: She happens to be a Woman and happens to be of Jewish Descent. Two things the Mexican people ignored to vote for who they thought was the most qualified candidate.

By the way the runner up was also a highly educated 61 year old lady.

OT: Hypothetical - Urban Meyer as UCF head coach?

Would you ever want to see Urban Meyer as UCF head coach?

  • Yes, he's a proven winner

    Votes: 28 17.0%
  • No, he's too flaky and likely wouldn't be here long

    Votes: 137 83.0%

I heard Bianchi and Daniels discussing Urban Meyer and the UF Ring of Honor during their Bridge segment this morning. It got me to thinking - let's say that Gus decides to step down within the next couple of years, either taking another job elsewhere, or just wants to retire. And let's say that Urban Meyer wants to get back into coaching. As a Big 12 school in the heart of Florida, UCF would be a very attractive school for him. He's been a winner at every place he's been a head coach (Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, Ohio State), with multiple national championships between the latter two. I also understand he comes with a lot of baggage (especially the way he left UF).

***Rivals100 Alabama commit Duke Johnson checks out UCF 🏈

bkj1rnvqrvyc0cb9wlsi

Darrell "Duke" Johnson, the nation's No. 45 overall player, was among the high-profile visitors to UCF for Bounce House Weekend.

Johnson, a defensive athlete from Dodge County High School in Eastman, Ga., committed to Alabama in March but he's still keeping his eyes open.

"I liked hanging out with the other recruits and players, having a good time and catching up with them," Johnson said. "They made me feel at home."

This wasn't his first time on campus.

"I already knew a little about UCF," Johnson said. "Seeing the coaching staff, they're really involved with the players and make them a priority. I really like that."

The weekend included a trip to Universal's Islands of Adventure. Johnson had a great time on a couple roller coasters, another one not so much.

"I rode The Hulk," he said. "That was one super scary. I'll never ride it again. You go up real high and then come down and turn. I'll never do it again."

He gave positive marks to the Jurassic Park (VelociCoaster) and King Kong (Skull Island: Reign of Kong) coasters though.
