Duke vs UCF Military Bowl

I guess we eventually have to start talking about the bowl game....

Duke probably gets the edge in the “happy to be here” department. The Blue Devils are back in the postseason for the first time since 2018 following an 8-4 campaign under first-year coach Mike Elko. UCF is bowling for a seventh straight year but would probably rather be in another one after falling short in the American Athletic Conference finale.

***Transfer on the verge of committing?***

He's been mostly quiet, but it's been an Auburn vs. UCF battle for Alabama transfer OT Amari Kight.

After visiting UCF over the weekend, I heard he could be UCF-bound and heard today that it's looking good.

Kight was Alabama's backup left tackle this season but saw limited action (83 snaps spread throughout five games). Graded REALLY well though - 88.9 on PFF.

Both Marcellus Marshall (Kent State transfer) and Kight have experience at LT, though I'd assume one of them will move to RT, a position that will be wide open with Ryan Swoboda out of eligibility.

Militay Bowl Parking

I didn’t want to get a gold lot $40 ticket since I won’t be getting there early enough to do tailgating. Getting there shortly before the game.

Anyone over there now see any better parking alternatives if you aren’t tailgating? I thought I saw someone mention that people living around the north side of the stadium allow you to park in their driveway for around $20. Any info?

I've arrived in Annapolis; Batter Up Knightro helmets tomorrow? 😯👀

I'm afraid not, but the Military Bowl will be honoring UCF's 2007-08 era logo.

After much stress wondering if Southwest would get me here, then wondering if I'd have a car if I arrived, I can't complain about the end result.

MCO security was a breeze and the Southwest areas were mostly quiet... Lots of empty gates. That's what canceling 65 percent of your flights gets you.

I think we had six Southwest pilots as passengers. No UCF fans, which might be a first. You always see somebody. I know Southwest is having an epic system collapse, but I do wonder how well UCF will be represented.

My flight was delayed about an hour, but I got here. I saw lots of people waiting for cars, but I immediately got a car from National (thanks @AGLamb for the hookup!).

And thank you to @UCFKnights3000 and @SpaceCoastAlum for the kind offers to assist if my car didn't materialize.

It takes about 25 minutes to drive from BWI to Annapolis.

Did a late drive by the stadium and downtown. Zoomed in through the gates for a video board shot. 👀

I partied with FSU’s Senior Associate Director of Football Strength and Conditioning

Tied one on with the boys last night. Went Hotel Bar Hoppin’ on I-Drive looking for transient trim and ending up at Twin Peaks for a bite. I always forget bowl games are in Orlando but then am pleasantly surprised.

Just like last year when I partied with Iowa State fans, I bumped into Lanier Coleman, FSU’s strength and conditioning coach. Very nice dude and a beast. Had some wings and talked about Norvell and my UCF fandom. “Shit is about to pop off for UCF.”

If I was building a college football offense...

I was just thinking about if you were hypothetically building a college football offense, what would you focus on? What system would you run?

Personally, I would recruit track guys that can catch, loads of them. 4.4 or faster...A QB that was fast, but fairly accurate on the deep ball... A couple of 6'6" or 6' 7" tight ends... A couple of small track RB's like AK, and a few bruisers like Bowser... Then, attack deep nearly every play,(even if we don't throw it deep), keep running in wr's to keep them fresh... Wear their db's out....And when they try to defend the pass, hit them with running plays with the speedy rb's and qb... (keep the wr's spread out wide to open the field for runs, qb runs). For short yardage and late in the game, switch to running over them with the bruisers... Paired with the Florida heat, and the availability locally for speedy skill players, most of these midwest/northern teams won't be able to keep up...
Exciting to watch for fans, an offense skill players would want to play for...
Cons, would be difficult to execute for poor weather games/snow/etc...
