And we’re off!!!

We decided to drive from Orlando this time and had to leave today to get in some sights since we have to be back by the 29th. Williamsburg and DC the next couple of days and hope to see lots of Knights as we close in on Annapolis. Looks like the weather might even be warmer than the first Liberty Bowl when we froze. We also stood the whole game since nobody sat and I thought my Floridian wife would never want to go back to a cold bowl.

OT: What was your most memorable childhood Christmas gift? 🤶🎄

Probably for me it was the big Ninja Turtles craze year (1989?) and when I got the original Nintendo.

Here's a couple catalog archives (Sears Wishbook, etc.) where you can look at every page of the catalogs year by year.

UCF canceled coordinator interviews

Gus has unorthodox ideas about media coverage, one of which is requiring that coordinator interviews can ONLY be the day after games. Virtually ever other program usually has 2-3 days of availability during the actual game week when most people can attend. And they allow more than two players per week to talk.

So that means Sunday night at 7 p.m. (unless it's a weekday game) which only draws the diehard media which would include myself, Jason Beede and Trace Trylko (no chance of TV media on a Sunday).

I scheduled my road trips to be back for coordinator interviews and I was planning to be there at 7, but UCF canceled anyway because the other two people who might show were still making their way back from NC.

It can't be on Monday or Tuesday because that's how they did it at Auburn, so that's how it's gonna be. I've repeated many times that once UCF is in the Big 12 and some of the easy nonstops are no longer available (though I had to drive 1.5 hours from Greenville to RDU), that Sunday media opps after road games would be impossible but I doubt it will change.

Obviously 2022 is not yet finalized.

These are the recruiting class rankings ON PAPER which as we all know don't mean anything. UCF's previous best class was 2011, but that was largely due to the signing of QB DaMarcus Smith, who didn't even qualify and resulted in the program being put on probation. GOL's first classes were lowly-ranked, but had some really great players come out of them.

The previous second and third best classes were 2003 (51) and 2019 (52).

Marching Knights sendoff.

I anyone is interested my wife and I are planning to go out to see the MK’s off tomorrow. The busses are supposedly loading at 7:00 pm. Anyone else planning on going out? We are probably going to make a poster. Our daughter is a freshman alto sax player. We are not sure of the whole process but we are gonna get over there and figure it out. If you wanna join we would love to see some other dungeonites.
