Ex-NC State player arrested for stalking coach Dave Doeren

A former NC State football player was arrested this week and charged with misdemeanor stalking and communicating threats to Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren, according to Wake County records.

The arrest stems from a tweet reportedly sent by Joseph Boletepeli, 22, a member of the 2018 and 2019 NC State football teams, saying, "Imma get him I promise. Dave Doeren and the rest."

usf tickets without ticketmaster fees (direct line)

Hey...those looking to buy tickets on the UCF Side (East Side Stands) and not deal with ticketmaster or stubhub fees...you can get face value by calling Conner in usf ticket office directly (813-974-8933).

He can help with club seats (remember, fewer sections have club access compared to Bucs or Bowl Game) or regular seats outside of the club.

He has already helped out a lot of Knights...so give him your biz if you can. (Tell him CM sent ya).

[SIAP] AL.com opinion piece utterly lacking fact checking! (RESOLVED)

This is simply 'FALSE'!!!

UCF has won games against 3+ ranked teams in a season, and even 2x AP Top 10 teams in a single season before (2013 under George O'Leary), including against a higher ranked team than 2017 Auburn.
Never seen such ignorance of even just UCF the past decade.

QUOTE: _'He’s doing things Central Florida has never done before. UCF has beaten two ranked teams in a single season for the first time with victories over No. 20 Cincinnati and just last Saturday night over No. 16 Tulane.'_

repercussions of joining the Big 12 (for Fans)

I know we are all giddy about joining the big 12 and all the benefits that come with it, but have you ever stopped to think of the possible negatives that could potentially come with it as a fan now that the playoff has expanded?

I want to present to you a very real scenario that COULD happen. what if we join the big 12 and become a middle of the road program like Kansas state, always in the upper half of the top 25 rankings and collecting 7-9 wins every year. with us and Cincinnati leaving it creates a void in the G5 for top dog that then becomes filled by usf/FAU. usf/FAU start having the success we have been accustomed to and start being regulars in the new expanded playoff. top recruits want to play for winners and play in the playoffs so usf/FAU start out recruiting us and become the superior football team while UCF is just in a better conference collecting more money.

we all laugh at the notion of this happening but so did Nebraska and Miami, etc when they changed conferences. all the money in the world is great for the school but it doesn't mean shit to me as a fan. would rather go undefeated and make the playoffs making 7 million a year then making 60 million being a middle of the pack power 5 team.

Chargeon.xyz's NIL marketplace(?) is dropping some 'digital football trading cards' today

Happy Friday ya'll.

Since many are complaining about how our fanbase doesn't have many boosters to keep the players, Gus, and of course, T-Will (cc: @shacket), I'll gladly spend $25 bucks to buy a 3 second highlight 'trading card' of Drop crushing Cincy and/or Tulane's QB into a pulp.

Start donating where and when you can (if you don't already) and if you feel the need to get something in return, try the site out as I assume they're still building it out.

Athletic: Get UCF's Name Right Or Pay the Price, and Big Noon Kickoff vs College Gameday

I still haven't watched Big Noon Kickoff show so I can't say if this is accurate or not.

Comparing the two competitors is natural. “College GameDay” has the history and branding, but it also serves as a comprehensive preview of the day’s action. It focuses on the big games but gives plenty of shine to interesting Group of 5 games and stories from smaller schools and divisions, too.

“Big Noon Kickoff” was always going to face an uphill battle, but its focus is much tighter on the game it is attending and gives off a pep rally feel from time to time that leans too much into revving up the crowd instead of informing and entertaining the television audience. Focusing on big games can work, but it’s less compelling when the show goes to a game, as it did Saturday, with Ohio State hosting Indiana as a 40-point favorite.

The show itself has bright moments but offers little to no reason for fans of teams outside the Big Ten (or, on occasion, the Big 12) to watch a program that serves as the lead-in for the noon game. It’ll be interesting to see how or if that evolves as the Big Ten’s new television deal kicks off with CBS and NBC.

And as for UCF...

Later in the show, I felt bad for McAfee accidentally calling UCF the “Golden Knights.” I did it once in 2012 in a Fiesta Bowl preview and got angry tweets about it for a month. He apologized later in the show. It probably won’t matter.

[SIAP] The Athletic (Paywall): "How UCF returned to NY6 driver’s seat w/Plumlee, Malzahn"

Chris Vannini almost always does us well.

How UCF returned to New Year’s Six driver’s seat with John Rhys Plumlee, Gus Malzahn

Select quotes ...

'[Plumlee] opened his recruitment again, and there was Malzahn again. UCF coaches wanted another quarterback ... didn’t promise him the starting job, but they told him he was a perfect fit for the offense and would be surrounded with weapons ... “They didn’t try to lie to me (in 2018) like a lot of schools at the time ... when I got in the portal again, I knew they were telling me the truth.” ... Florida State, South Alabama and Southern Miss also showed interest, but he trusted Malzahn.'
'“He’s a true dual-threat guy that can keep plays alive ... player of the week against the No. 1 defense in our league ... He does a great job getting us out of negative plays and he’s getting more comfortable. Remember, he played wide receiver for the past year and a half.”'
'Now with the team healthy and the early-season kinks worked out, UCF is playing its best ball. The Knights are in the top three in the league in scoring offense and defense.'
'Malzahn added that he hopes to save Keene’s redshirt this season; to do so, he can play in only two more games.'
'When the season ends, [Plumlee will] take a week off, go duck hunting, come back and suit up for the UCF baseball team. Plumlee is a two-sport athlete, and that was a requirement for his services when he decided to transfer ... “If you didn’t want me to play baseball, I wasn’t coming,” he said.'
'Malzahn has UCF back where it expects to be, competing for a conference championship and New Year’s Six bowl ... last season as an AAC and Group of 5 team, and they want to leave it with another championship ... “I thought this place was a goldmine before I got here, and now I believe it even more,” Malzahn said. “This place had great success before I got here, and everything is set up for the future.”'

Bonus ... (and I don't think this is very probably with SMU getting killed by Tulane)

'G5 Mailbag:
Does Coastal Carolina (or anyone outside of UCF, Cincinnati, and Tulane) have a shot at the New Year’s Six/Cotton Bowl? — Johnmark S.'
'At this point, it’s hard to see anyone but the AAC champion getting the bid. No. 20 UCF, No. 21 Tulane and No. 25 Cincinnati are all ranked in this week’s CFP Top 25, despite having two losses each. Coastal Carolina is unranked with one loss.'
'Cincinnati hosts Tulane on Nov. 25, eliminating one of them, and the winner will likely face UCF (which finishes with Navy and USF) in the AAC title game. The most likely path for someone outside the AAC would be a scenario in which Tulane loses to SMU this week, then beats Cincinnati. At that point, I’m not sure who would get in the AAC title game, but that team would then have to beat UCF. That would give everyone in the AAC at least three losses, clearing the way for Coastal Carolina (if it wins out).'
